Throughout the course of the year some events were sacred, and drenched with meaning - in fact they all had layers of history and purpose, however in the Meadows not every month was a coronation and the guidelines to throwing an event were looser than the more formal events. Enter Beltane, straddling the Spring and Summer where rituals were conducted to appease the aos si, or Faeries. Archie Hartman was doing just that, but rather than dairy and bread he was offering vodka and whiskey. Fire was an important part of the Beltane aesthetic and ceremonies and thus the fire spitting from atop the DJ’s booth and torches around the pool. A pool? Yes, a pool. This was a party as much as it was a festival, and more self-serving it was the coming out for Riley Sorsa breaking into the industry out of nowhere, with no questions needing to be asked of how. The XS at the Wynn was the chosen venue - particularly the outside portion of the venue. While the fires were warm there was always time to enjoy the spring weather with a bit of a dip in the pool. Followers adorned the booths, seats, and anywhere they could be hung to call back to the origins of the ceremony. It made the affair a big deal, formal enough, but casual enough that you would want to wear something you weren’t afraid of getting wet. It was refreshing to say the least, not nearly as stuffy but there was still a dress code, anyone who showed up looking like a bum was tossed like one so while the Freehold had an open invitation they still had to play the part. The one explicit rule? Any members of the Lost Community were expected to wish the guest of Honor - Riley Sorsa - a congratulations on her successful debut with Zumanity. A fair price to pay for no cover needed one could argue.

Afterparty seemed content to set itself aside for the event alongside trusted friends, which suited Ivory just fine. That Ivory was not among them was also not a complete surprise, given that Archie had funded and presumably planned the event. Cordial as they might be, the Pale Dragon's relationship with the Chatelaine was cool at the best of times and often icy at others. Thus, Ivory instead chose to arrive with Kai Rose, entering with her motley mate to find a booth near the pool. The Pale Dragon was dressed for the occasion, wearing a luxurious, white swim cover and beautiful sandals. Underneath, an orange two piece Burberry bikini could be glimpsed. Accessories were absent, as the dragon intended to swim. Makeup too was minimal and water resistant for the same reasons, but the Pale Dragon looked well put together. Ivory would settle by the pool, feet dipping into the water as she awaited an opening to approach the Honored Guest of the party, as detailed in the invitation. It was a clever move, insofar as Ivory could tell. It would grant Riley exposure, but whether the Moth rose to fit Archie's vision of the evening had yet to be seen. However, despite Ivory's tense relationship with their agent, she hoped Riley would do well.

Expectations must be met. As the seasons cycle, three pay respects to one. All are encouraged to embrace the philosophy of the ruling season. Gratitude should be payed to generous hosts. And when one among the Freehold triumphs, all should show their support. But Eis doesn’t recall any bloody rule that says she has to enjoy it. The venue, to the host’s credit, is grand. Eis doesn’t have any intention on swimming, but she can appreciate the novelty of it. She’s opted for a low-cut white dress with a high waisted belt, which is cool and breathable. Not that she minds warmer weather - but most would likely assume by her Mien that she’s accustomed to the cold. Which, in part, is why she’s also chosen to weave a little extra glamour into her Mask. Gone is the vivid shock of gravity defying white hair. In its place? Auburn hair bound elegantly into a high bun. Her icy, pale skin hides behind a facade of a healthy glow. She feels at a loss, unsure of where to stake out a table for the evening of obligatory courtesy. So, for the time being, she stakes out a relatively uncrowded spot in front of the pool. But she doesn’t do so to hide. No; the Fairest, by her very nature, stands out. Not nearly so much as she expects the guest of honor will, but her confidence is clear. And though she’s sworn never to repeat the foolishness of Ostara she still wishes she had a single drink to hold. As an accent to her look and a means of keeping one of her hands occupied. No matter. A drink will find its way to her when it feels ready to.

Archie Hartman's grand offering.
Ostensibly, it was to Riley Sorsa and Spring, but the powerful producer had plenty of stars to push to the front of the line. That he happened to be pushing his Motleymate made sense, but every agent needed their front-man. Kai couldn't help but wonder if this was actually his grand offering to himself. That was fine. Hartman deserved to treat himself every now and again, and Solomon's spook had no difficulty with a harmless show of grandeur. It was just tough to see him not be able to do it without someone else to be an excuse.
Chatelaines.
Still. It was a great concept, and she was happy to be there. Kai had a little something in her bag for the host and Spring's newest star. Rose wore a colorful wrap dress that didn't last long as she set it all down on a towel. The neat pile on a lounge chair made a makeshift encampment for her and Ivory for the moment. She wore a black onepiece with strategic cutouts on the sides, revealing hints of a lithe, Olympian body.
"Stay there, Abby."
The Wizened threw herself into an aerial, then cartwheeled once using Ivory's shoulder as a push-off point before backflipping into the pool. The difficulty of it wasn't necessarily the move -- what made it work was the fact she did it cleanly, without splashing anyone unduly or hitting anyone on the landing. For the Lost present, as she flew, her colors rippled off the water, giving off a little refraction like a prism.
Surfacing for air, Kai said, "You better get Wayland down here. This pool is Archie's best idea yet."
It was only then that Rose realized that Apollo would have been right there doing flips with her if he were here.

When Lucas initially received the invitation, he did not have much interest in attending. The invite was pinned on his fridge with a magnet and left there for some time. However, as time passed and various developments occurred, the event's stock rose in his eyes. While excessive parties were not his scene at all, he suspected there was going to be a good deal of gossip taking place at the party. Some of the gossip had the potential to be useful to the goals he was working towards.
After a lengthy amount of internal debating, he decided to head that way. Even if he didn't find anything useful out, there was a good chance he could score some brownie points with Sedna by ensuring there was some kind of Winter presence at the big social to-do. As well as it was an opportunity to meet Archie Hartman. He had heard the name here and there while making the rounds on the entertainment side of the Strip, but he had yet to meet Archie.
Luck appeared to be on his side as not only was his landlord available to look after Luther while he was gone, she even encouraged him to stay out late. It made her happy to see him leaving his apartment and socializing with others.
And so, he made his way to the Wynn to see what adventure awaited him. The outfit he opted to wear was simple yet stylish and it meshed with the spirit of the event. He opted for a white Hawaiian shirt, that had black palm trees printed on it, and the cut was flattering. Since he planned on swimming, he didn't bother with an undershirt. The outfit was completed with navy, anchor printed swim trunks, and sporty sandals. In order to fight off any judgmental thoughts at how over the top the whole thing was, he ordered a strong drink that was served to him in a tiki cup.
The next stage of his plan was to decide what social group he wanted to mingle with. While he scanned the crowd, his eyes were immediately drawn to Kai after she pulled off her fancy diving stunt. A familiar, friendly face was a good starting point. He was also pleased to see the Spring Dragon was in Kai's company as well.
"Sick moves, Kai." Lucas complimented the Polychromatic as he approached the pool, raising his drink to her. His face lit up with a friendly smile as he looked at the two warm weather courtiers.
"Nice to see you again." He turned his attention over to Ivory before addressing the both of them. "This party is something else, huh?"

This was an event, raucous and cheery, dedicated in no small part to a star's success under the very circumstances where Agrippa had failed. Archie was in attendance, sure to magnify the anxieties and shame the unicorn was bound to feel by the contrast alone, and all of this mere weeks before a dreaded deadline, and the unspeakable consequences another failure may bring... This freehold sure did find many cruel and unique ways to make a lover of parties wish they had the option to stay home. Agrippa would have been impressed if it wasn't so crushing.
Of course they had less than zero intention of letting their emotions affect anything about the evening aside themselves- Riley did good, and they deserved everything wonderful that this night should bring for them. Compulsory or not, Agrippa was going to congratulate them still, even if they were likely going to wait until the spotlights were off to do so. But neither they nor the spotlights were there yet, so that was an issue for future Agrippa to navigate their way around.
As it was they crept through the scene, a ghost in orange and pink blending into the lights and flames. There were plans to hug an obscure corner for the majority of the night, but those would have to wait. There was something that needed doing, and it needed to be done before Riley's showing would inadvertently render it impolite for the beast to attend to their own affairs. They had a mission, a tight schedule, and the first thing on the list was to locate a certain Sir Nimbus. There were vague plans to perhaps intercept a server with a drink destined for the Knight, but those could only come to fruition if such a thing existed and could be caught in time. Honestly, they would be happy to even speak to their mark before the party's end, but there was no point aiming for successes in mere half-measures just yet.

Even if she was standing aside, Eis retained much of her presence. Such was life for the Fairest as a whole. The intense Snowskin's decision to harden her mask was an interesting decision. Ivory did not know her well, save their brief interaction during Ostara. From what the Pale Dragon recalled, the cordial exchange was not unpleasant, it turned out to be a better impression than Rowan and Ivory had left each other following their first interaction at least.
Thus, the distant Ice Queen's presence was met with a cordial smile and a slight wave. If it was to amount to more, however, the moment was lost as Kai used her as a spring board for her aerial trick which elicited a bright laugh from the dragon of Spring. Ivory clapped for her motley mate, granting Kai a wide smile as she surfaced for air.
"Ramona's a big girl," Ivory offered at the mention of Wayland, "She'll be by if she wants to, I suspect. Besides... wouldn't want to tarnish Hartman's rep by stealing one of his guests now would we?"
A lie.
"It's better to let her make the choice."
It'll taste all the sweeter if she chooses our company.
So began the night. Ivory would soon get the attention of a server, choosing to order a Long Island. Soon thereafter, a familiar voice reached her ears, causing the Fairest to turn her head to the source.
"Lucas! Good to see you," she said, "Looking to take a dip?"
The question was punctuated through the wiggling of Ivory's toes beneath the water.
"It's definitely something," she offered as Lucas inquired about the party's vibe.
Still, Ivory's eyes were roving the crowd, seeking out familiar faces. One in particular she had hoped to see was a delight in situations such as this. It was hard to let things bother you when they were around... And there they were! The Pastel Unicorn was glimpsed as they weaved through the crowds, seemingly on a mission. Had Agrippa been roped into hosting the festivities? The invitation hadn't mentioned as much. Nonetheless, Ivory's hand lifted to wave and, should she get the Unicorn's attention, she would give them a warm smile. She had no intention to block whatever they were doing, however. The Pale Dragon only hoped to see them at one point in the evening.

Autumn was announced with the Lamborghini and the ripple of flowers bruising and drying out, time shifting shadows in a flurry against reality as secrets fought against the late spring bonfires. The overcoat and street fashion may have caused a small protest in terms of dress code, but the weightless quality to the fabric and the ripples of teal and lavender reversing shadows to light made it rapidly apparent that it was Hedgespun. Dormarch wasn't far behind, carefully watching mundane and Faerie alike try to chat up the Knight. The Incubus was always off this close to Summer Coronation, and the extra check of mortals was welcome. The Squire doubted it would come to throwing down a gauntlet. Hopefully! He elbowed his sulking friend as the familiar Polychromatic was repeating her usual stunts with a grin on his face. Alas, they didn't bring their tiger.

The unicorn was doing very well for themselves. As they spoke, Nimbus' face lit up as he suddenly recalled their angelic presence at the last Spring function, asking questions about how their projects have been going and if they had managed to publish yet. Even Piper's hard demeanor loosened up with enough jokes and alcohol, once she realized the Helldiver wanted nothing more than to soak the atmosphere; Agrippa could have passed for a True Friend sometimes. The Beast was passive enough that Ivory almost missed the soft pastels among the personalities and Mantles in the whirlpool hot tub, surprised to find that they were roosting with some high rollers.
Eurydice dragged over Loki, causing Piper to flinch as the new Mantle washed among them, but offered her friend a suffering smile that didn't last with Prasad hovering close by. The reptilian mountain of muscle was watching something afar with the uncanny tracking of a predator. Agrippa was able to differentiate that the former Sage Escort was part of Nimbus' crew, but her inclusion of the Chevaliers was a wild card.
There were a lot of Summers here in general.
They actually outnumbered the Springs.

Agrippa grinned at Ivory, giving the Dragon a surreptitious nod as they caroused with the bluebloods. They would speak to her soon enough, but not before this all-too-important next round of drinks. They had been paying attention to Nimbus' particular flavor of poison, and had placed an order for a small glass in a moment where his attentions had been elsewhere. When it had come, the unicorn thanked the server and took the thing up in dainty fingers. "Well! They say to dress for the job that you want rather then the one that you have, but as I suspect those who have sworn to you have no uniform to speak of, I have opted instead to act the part-"With a grin gracious and broad, they placed the glass before the Knight with a gentle theatricality "I bring you good things, as I would hope those sworn to you do!"

It’s a little bit of a surprise when Wayland’s invite includes directions to the “owner’s table (with bottle service!)” A welcome surprise, but a surprise still. It gives her a small, good feeling under her ribs, to have the idea that people want her around reinforced without prompting. It made shopping for swimwear a bit more bearable than it would be otherwise. Wayland never made the mental association between Las Vegas and swimming before. Sure the place has pools, but it’s also in the middle of the desert. It just hadn’t occurred to her. Fortunately she was able to find something she feels pretty good in, a nice swim top that bares her midriff, and matching shorts that hug her body. She’s not sculpted or anything, but she’s got some muscle, and she likes that the outfit shows that off. She wears it under a pair of board shorts and a tank top with a flat hammer-on-anvil logo and the words ‘HIT IT LIKE IT OWES YOU MONEY’ written across the front, with a pair of cheap sandals on her feet to walk around in. The invite mentioned a +1, but Wyaland’s gone stag. She’d wanted to bring Alecto along, but the Beast had shot her down, and by then the Ogre had left things for so long that it was too last-minute to invite anybody else. The party looks like it’s already in full-swing, a crowd of mundies mixed in with the Changelings. This would be a good night to harvest glamour, if one were so inclined. But Wayland’s inclination is for the pool. She didn’t buy new swimwear not to get wet. She wants to at least scope it out first before heading off in search of the owner’s table to congratulate Riley and say hi to the friends there. As luck would have it, there are friendly faces by and in the water. A slight smile tugs at her lips as she crosses the distance towards the pool’s edge. “Hey there,” she calls to the group of Lucas, Ivory, and the floating Kai, as she emerges from the crowd to join them in their little cluster of space. Her eyes flick between each of them with the greeting, but they linger a little bit on Ivory.

The water did look mighty appealing. It had been awhile since he had gone swimming properly. He took off his flip-flops, setting them near the edge of the pool for the time being. Then he took a seat next to Ivory, dipping his feet into the water as well.
"I'm thinking about it. You know, you still owe me a dance." He grinned at her and if he sensed she was open to it, he would give her shoulder a playful bump with his.
"Going for a dip would also suffice as a suitable substitute. I wonder if they have beach balls laying around anywhere."
Getting a group together at some point to play some water volleyball/ swatting the ball around back and forth to each other. Around that time, Wayland joined the group. It was nice to see the Ogre again, especially under far less dire circumstances than their initial meeting.
"Hey, Wayland. Longtime no see, how have you been?"

And there she was, Wayland arriving right on time. Lucas, too, which was interesting given the Thirst she'd seen around Ivory at Ostara. Different kinds, sure, but the Pale Dragon seemed like she was a Hot Commodity. Meanwhile, Kai abided, floating in the busy pool with the mortals and just vibin'.
"Thanks!" Kai replied to Lucas. She gave Icarus and Dormarch a little finger wave, and gave Ramona a chin jut of greeting.
Deep Summer attendance, indeed. A hand came up and one long finger flicked the surface of the water, sniping Ivory with a little line of wet.
"We're going to go be friends with Nimbus and Loki later, buddy. I can feel it coming in the air tonight. But first, y'all had best join me. A volleyball ain't gonna spike itself."

Why do one thing when you can do many? Archie had decided to take the absence of any official Beltane schedule and turn it into something special. It was the official coming out of Riley’s successful transition from stripper to full on burlesque star, all the while they were celebrating the spirit of the seasons and honoring the Freeholds traditions. It was also clearly a testament. Important people rubbing elbows, talent and industry professionals, Lost nobility mingling between them. This was a well crafted affair and there was only one man responsible for making it all happen - Archie Hartman.
No need to share the glory four ways as was the case with Ostara.
Despite all this strides were made to ensure that everyone was taken care of. Yes there was a bar, but there were plenty of people going around making sure that drink was flowing. Problems would be addressed swiftly by a well equipped and largely mundane security team. It was going to be a success and Archie was going to remove any and all threats to that.
With all this there was also seeing where people's social chips were falling. This was a measure of where a lot of people were standing, literally by who they were standing with. It was even an opportunity for some who would otherwise be too shy or too abrasive to make their own fortunes happen. Paved roads were easier travelled nonetheless.
While everyone was floating around Archie was busy at the green table, a handful of chips in front of him as he casually tossed them around for a few hands of blackjack while things panned out. Casual khaki shorts, a silk button up in w nice mint green, and a gin and tonic in hand.
It was going to be a fruitful Beltane.
