Upon hearing someone approach him, Lucas glanced up from the mission he was reading, and over his shoulder to see who it was as he did not immediately recognize their voice.
Ah, it was the fellow Winter who had also participated in the Blood Sports competition and won. It was a surprisingly good showing for the Silent Arrow considering their more discrete appearances at other festivities.
The Fairest face lit up with a welcoming smile as he turned around to properly face the elemental. "The Gentry spies mission seems like the best fit for my skillset. You know, I don't think we've been properly introduced yet even though we've seen each other in passing a few times. "
He extended his hand to blaze. "Lucas Chevalier, it's a pleasure to officially meet you. "

Eis becomes acutely aware of many eyes on her and the Wisp. Much to Riley's credit - as this likely is something she, herself might have done - the Moth challenges the onlookers with a smirk. One that so far has not been challenged. It might be interesting, indeed, if some busybody were to say something. A smirk would be the least of their worries. Eis would give them a look that could curdle blood. Season of Fear and all that...
"Uncomfortable, perhaps." she agrees, giving Sorsa a slow nod. "But it would be a fine first step in the mending... or building of bridges." She lets the statement hang with just a slight quirk of her brow. Then she sets her sights on the board again. "For me... rooting out some spies feels right. This being as appropriate a time as any to oppress the tools of our Oppressors. I can't rightly make a decision for you, but if I were in your situation? I'd seize any opportunity to heal the damage your indiscretion has caused." The statement isn't levied with any particular level of judgement. The Wyrd itself is more than capable of bringing Riley low without any help from Eis. As suited for the task as she may be. What even was it, again, that Riley had done?

Though the details were impossible to dig up without hearing from the horse's mouth, Eis had heard enough rumours that Riley had incurred the ire of Winter as a whole. Something to do with sharing someone's secrets and breaking sacred rituals. Lucas had been very vocal at Litha about being wronged, and Riley's social circle ignoring how he had been harmed.
This reputation was paired with Riley's partner, Firebringer, being cast out in disgrace for tainting a Summer rite with Riley rather publicly. With a Keeper threatening the Freehold for the first time in a decade, the weakening of Seasonal protections were making people scared and angry. Eis' words held weight: Riley had till Yule to make amends with the Onyx Court to be permitted to stay in Vegas.

The Elemental was always one for reciprocity, and so when Lucas smiles, Blaze pays him in kind - a genuine expression
"No, we haven't - Sofia Palmer. Most people here call me Blaze, though." His hand is shaken in a firm, but not forceful gesture "I'm glad to finally meet you, Mr. Chevalier. You seem to be a popular man."
A single glance is given to the background freeholders, presumably still occupied with the latest episode of the Spring Moth drama, guest starring Eis this time around. Soon, however, the Sprite's full focus is back on Lucas. There has been enough gawking here for one night.
"Not as popular as some others, which is probably for the best. Good pick, spies. It takes an elusive man to catch similarly elusive targets."

Riley put down their glass and looked up at Eis, who stood over the darkling. It made her feel taller than she already was, and Riley wasn't keen on it.
They bit their tongue as Eis expressed their opinion on the matter. It felt like being lectured.
No one asked your opinion. The wisp thought to themself.
They gave a forced smile and a nod.
"Thanks for the tip." The moth said, glancing over at a few of the onlookers.
" I've done more than most in efforts to this freehold." But it's never enough.
" Why stop tonight? I reckon, however, I ain't gonna get much of choice in my role in all this."
Riley stood as they spoke, wiping their hands with napkins.
"Spy hunter ?" Riley said, turning the conversation back to Eis.
"Good luck with that. Have you ever killed someone before?" The Moth asked. The question was heavy, but their tone was unsettlingly light.

Eis purses her lips at Riley’s clarification. Done more than most, have they? A rather defensive comment, if one were to ask the Fairest.
But time isn’t on Riley’s side, is it? So hurt feelings are of little importance to the end result.
Riley hadn’t taken the bait and given their own duty preference, as Eis had wished. Instead, the Moth asks Eis a rather unsettling question. She pauses, staring at Riley for a moment. When she answers, her tone is chiding.
“No, dear. I suspect this is where you tell me that you have?” She lets out a short bark of a laugh. She shakes her head, then, and comes off almost sounding apologetic.
“Before this turns into something unpleasant, let me assure you that I’m… ‘rooting for you’. You and I operate very differently, but, as they say, it takes all kinds. Doesn’t it?” Her smile is about as pleasant as a crocodile’s, but it’s sincere enough.
“But forgive me. You were going to talk about taking a life?”

Riley gives a sneer of a smile and shakes their head.
"Do I look like someone who can kill anyone?" The Darkling raises their hands up into a shrug.
"No, I haven't, least not that I know of. "
The Moth glances back to the board than to Eis.
"It's sweet your rooting for me; that can be a mistake these days." Riley said with a soft , if not sad smile. " I ask, Eis cause if you are going to be hunting spies, ya might have to. We don't really take captives, do we? " They say, remarking to the criminals killed at the summer event.
The Moth looked back to the board again. The spring courtier was not exactly excited about human or changeling sacrifices being back on the menu.
"I don't know if I could kill someone. Nor do I think I am much of a monster hunter. But I don't think I am gonna get much choice tonight."

It's as if the entire Freehold held its breath. What was going to happen? If past Coronations were anything to go by...
With Henley having wandered off somewhere, Yuan's attention turned to Riley and Eis.

Lucas' eyes followed Blaze's over to Eis and Riley. The Gravewight had had his fill of Moth drama and then some. His goal was to avoid any collisions with Riley during this event. With Imbolc right around the corner, Riley's situation was becoming increasingly more dire. However, he needed to switch gears and focus on his own agenda for the evening. When one was going to go investigating the Gentry, there was no room for being distracted on any level.
"That's high praise coming from someone with your skill level. I was impressed with your showing at the arrow competition. Congratulation winning."
He beamed at the compliments the Elemental offered him and he returned them in kind.
"Heh, I agree with you there. There are those who argue all publicity is good publicity, but I suspect they've never been fully whammied by the Wyrd before. I'm good with where my popularity is at." He chuckled softly to alleviate any awkwardness regarding his own involvement in Riley's drama at Litha and he focused his attention on the mission.
"This will be a good challenge to see if I am truly a international elusive man of mystery. What about yourself? Which mission is calling to you?"

Nott's eyes played across the faces of the Freehold, trying to guess who would commit to which task. On the surface some folks felt like an easy call but factoring in motleys and the relationships between courts, she couldn't be sure-- how things actually broke down would certainly be informative.
Moving between clusters of other Winters, she took her time considering her own place in the mix. Neither this nor that, still deciding which way to fall. In the end the decision came down to the team leaders: Dame She-Wolf was of more personal interest than Loki, but it was hard to pass up a chance to assess such a volatile-seeming personality. A hunt wasn't the best time to be doing that, however, so when she approached the board the name Nott went down in neat capital letters under the group hunting spies.
Politely brief greetings made to Felicity and Hush, Nott cycled back toward the table in search of a cup to fill and maybe a new acquaintance to be made.

Blaze is as pleasantly stoic as she's always trying to be, as if she's attempting to make herself less noticeable, eclipsed by the Fairest. This was comforting, and suited her: the Sprite was rarely singled out for anything these days, and even positive attention felt off, like a piece of clothing that doesn't quite fit.
"I'm just making observations. Now that I've decided to take a more active role in the freehold's life I have to keep my eyes open, you know? Or, occasionally put on more of a show, like in that archery contest. I'm glad I could do my part, and it allowed me to do some technique analysis. Duels are... not the form of fighting I'm used to."
Especially duels that end with people getting their Mantle torn from them.
Oh wait, which duel were we talking about again? Maybe both?
How embarassingly ambiguous. Unlike the answer she gives Lucas about the hunt she is most interested in.
"I signed up to remove the spider nest in Naked City. It'll be a nice change of pace to bring the fight to a morally uncomplicated target, and I'm grateful for the chance to see the Paladin of Shadows in action."

Victor marched in, boots heavy on the stone floor, and gently pushed his way past those gathered around the board- pleasantries and other things he didn't want to engage in could wait until after he had ensured his place on it. He raised a calloused finger up to the listings and traced his way down, muttering the titles as he went. "Trafficking, Jorogumo, Huntsman, Spies..."His brows knotted. A hunt with mundanes on the target list was exactly the kind of mess he could make himself useful in, if those involved weren't neat about it. And it was being led by an officer of Fall no less. The Fairest nodded to himself and took his finger back, only to retrieve the utensil that would allow him to mark his name, and a little more to follow in Henley's footsteps. Victor (Cleanup)That done, the Chimera pulled back and finally took note of his surroundings. He recognized one of the people he'd nudged aside as Blaze, though the person she was talking to was unknown to him. He nodded towards her, part greeting, part apology. Scanning the crowd he thought he could see another familiar face, though it was a stranger ( Gavin Graves) who caught his eyes as a possible kindred spirit. He nodded towards them too, smiling in what he hoped was a fashion that would invite and encourage the man to introduce himself.

Gavin had been standing around idly vaguely wondering which of the options his liege would push him toward. He scanned the room from time to time and noted the murmuring around Eis and Riley conversing. Much as each of them had been helpful in the work he'd done along side each of them, the situation was clearly not in favour of open conversing with the pariah as was occurring. Even as he remembered the assistance the Moth had rendered in the depths of the Market, doubt and suspicion crept into his soul. Shadows cast over them harshly in one moment, bright glare pained looking in that direction in another. His notice of Eis was lost to the miasma of the Darkling's disfavour and the discomfort looking in that direction.
Further checking the room, he took notice of the relative newcomer smiling at him. Perhaps a new acquaintance to be made.
Approaching the man, he noted the patchwork features of the creature. Gavin wasn't quite sure where to look. One eye was unreal, and the other surreal. He settled on the living eye, even though it was obviously 'borrowed' from a Hob.
"Heya mate, you look like you might have seen the outdoors for more than a park visit. Have I got the right of it?" he offered with a smile that said he already knew it was true.

A deep laugh rumbled from the back of Victor's throat
"The jacket gives it away, don't it?"
The jacket in question was obviously a hunting coat- a brown leather thing with brass fittings and a buffalo plaid lining. Even from a comfortable distance it smelled faintly of smoke and oil.
"Yeah, I've been out hunting once or twice in my life. And fishing. And camping. Not in dessert territory though- Nevada's still strange to me. Much prefer places that won't cook you from the inside out! If the coyotes get to me, I want them to have to eat me raw."
Though still smiling, the Chimera didn't appear to be joking. He offered up a hand, in blatant disregard to the consequences of performing such a gesture with Gavin "has literal razor hands" Graves
"Victor, by the way! Wouldn't happen to know your name already from the board, would I?"
