After the shot burns its way down, Eis wipes her mouth in less-than-refined fashion. She slaps her shot glass down with a clack and opens her mouth to answer Ivory when Riley - this stranger - answers for her. Eis does frown. Oh yes. It takes her a second to gather her thoughts (for some reason), but a retort does find its way to her lips.
"'Some sort', yes. Someone needs to educate the young and inexperienced. People tend to live longer that way." She offers a venomous smile. She'd been willing to let Riley's audacity lie by the wayside... all the way up until she dethroned the Autumn from her seat of control. This hasn't exactly been the first time this evening in which someone has done something to derail her confidence, and frankly she's getting tired of it. She isn't here to show weakness. Respect for a Season's traditions, perhaps. Some degree of goodwill? Tolerable. But weakness!? This Riley may think she knows the Autumn Fairest, but she has much to learn if she thinks Eis will just roll over and play dead.
Despite herself, her smile turns three degrees less toxic when Lucas suddenly appears to join them. She waits a little, registering that everyone seems to have something to say to to him, before calling out "Lucas! Dear boy! We're having such a wonderful time. Glad you could join us."
The fact that Lucas knows Riley is news to her. She half wonders how the Winter feels about the little upstart radiant moth. She watches, ever curious.
She also notes this is the second time Riley has chosen to introduce Firebringer. As though the poor girl doesn't have a tongue of her own to speak with. All at once, Eis decides Firebringer is absolutely no threat. She even smiles, almost matronly, in the fiery girl's direction. Everyone has their place. Perhaps hers is at the foot of her date?

Gavin strode straight up to the bar. He needed to smooth those edges off.
Flagging down the barkeep, "G'day. Two stubbies 'r a longneck, aright." Flashing his eyebrows to check in if his meaning was clear. It was always a bit of a struggle when coming back from the bush after a spell. Words didn't come easy; American words less so.
The barkeep stood holding eye-contact trying to read Gavin and parse his meaning. It was a struggle.
Laughing nervously to cut some of the tension "Frosties?" he let that hang a moment. "Beer, in a bottle if y'ave it," clarifying further. The bartender nodded with the relief of finally understanding. Shortly the bottles slid over the countertop and money exchanged. "Ta ... Thanks." What an alien concept, money, Gavin thought, shaking his head trying to get around the idea of being a man and less of an animal. The head shake probably didn't endear him to the barkeep if he saw it, but Gavin wasn't connecting his outward reactions to the previous interaction. Picking up a bottle he took the whole of its contents in the first pull.
All these faces seen only a few times before, it was going to be something novel. New since getting away anyway. All this pretense and consideration. It would be so much simpler to be walking the wilds searching for the next need. Have to keep moving.
Grabbing up the other tallboy Gavin took a swig and moved along the bar toward the others looking for an opportunity to break into the scrum.
"Hiya ..."

Lucas' return was noted, with Ivory lifting her head at his words and granting him a smirk. She had to admire his persistence and, frankly, the sheer amount of balls he seemed to possess in approaching a now known friend of his ex. Whether it was confidence or bravado remained to be seen, however.
The exchange between Riley and Eis was noted as well, though, even with the tense nature of the air around her, Ivory couldn't help but let out a soft laugh into her cocktail before she pulled another drink. A faintly amused expression bloomed on the Pale Dragon's kind features as she looked between them.
"As much as I love bearing my teeth…" she began.
She really did. Archie and others could readily attest to that.
"Let's… not," the words were casual, the dragon's decorum dropping yet again as she settled in her seat before looking to the assembled, "Not tonight, anyway. Tonight isn't about us. So… I propose we all put our collective dicks away and just enjoy the time together, hmm?"
"Or do I need to buy a second round of shots to help lighten the mood?"
Turning her attention to the quiet Elemental, Ivory would smile.
"I have to say… I'm looking forward to seeing what the Spear has to offer when their ascendance comes," she says, "I don't want to get rusty."
A change of subject beyond Riley and Eis' little tiff and a little new information on herself.
The new figure recieved a nod.
"Sup." the Pale Dragon offered.
Maybe Kai living in Ivory's domicile was having an effect after all.

Stage one of his evening quest had been completed. He had managed to successfully integrate himself into the conversation and he even found a friendly face in enemy territory.
"Hey, Eis. Cheers, my friend. You're showing us how one lives their best Ostara life." The Winter fairest raised his drink towards the Fall Fairest.
While Eis looked Lucas over, he seemed as chill as the court he hailed from. For all intents and purposes, it appeared he was just there vibing along with Riley and the others.
When Riley looked Lucas over to see if he was about to start shit, nothing about his body language or the expression on his face indicated he had any hostile intent. If they chose to observe him for awhile longer, they would pick up that he seemed amused whenever they spoke to him in such a formal way. His attention shifted from Riley to Dani, looking genuinely impressed at her title.
"Firebringer of the Ironspear...I need to up my name game. Your intro is way more epic than my own." He chuckled and the smile on his face shifted to a playful grin. "Nice to meet you, Firebringer."
The bar area was quickly growing crowded, which wasn't surprising with how many forces of personality were centralized in one location. If he wanted to make his move and try to make some headway with Riley tonight, he needed to move fast. Fortunately, Ivory offered the perfect opportunity for him to try and set things in motion.
"Here, here. Another round of shots sounds great. This round is on me this time. "He flashed a smile at Ivory before turning to look at Riley.
Time to shoot his shot and see what happens.
"Riley, mind helping me round up the drinks and carry them back? Gives us a chance to do some catching up as well."

The fact that the Pale dragon had picked up on Riley's jabs made the moth a bit self-conscious, realizing that perhaps they had not been the most subtle. The Twilight Dancer gave Eis a quick glance at the mention of putting dicks away.
"Look, I packed tonight for a reason." Riley winked, playing it off as a joke. Letting the tension ease as requested by their friend.
Riley shot Lucas a glance at his familiarity with Eis. Of course, they knew each other. At the offer to grab the shots alongside Lucas, the moth raised an eyebrow.
Catch up? Why would we do that?
"Sure. I'd be happy to help" Riley gave Firebringer's hand a squeeze.
"Don't tease Ivory too much now." They glanced to the Pale Dragon. "Feel free to tease all you like"
Riley looked to Lucas, giving him a nod. "Lead the way."
The night had already taken a strange turn, but Riley wasn't going to let that deter them.

Firebringer gets a good look over Lucas and shrugs, "Eh, other people choose your name. Make sure if you are willing to let others choose it doesn't turn into something like Jerk Face Pretty Boy," she gives a friendly wink. She really did mean it in a friendly way, or, at least, she found it amusing. Riley walks over with him and she feels like she should feel some sense of 'eek', but she really doesn't. Nope. Not tonight. Tonight is for feeling free and channeling some of the wants over the needs.
Fire practically ignores Eis. Something about her just... really pisses her off. Like, singling out Riley in that judgmental way.
She looks over at Ivory with a grin, "Oh hell yes. I'm excited to get on with wicked Summer festivities. It'll be the bomb dot freaking com. Will also be my first over here, so I'm going for a clean slate not to compare." She wiggles a little bit, the Elemental never actually able to stand still. Perhaps another way she embodies the flame. Since when could a flame ever be forced to stand still?
Fire's attention turns to the newcomer and she gives a friendly wave, "ay-oh. Sup?" She had a voice of her own, even if she didn't have much to say at times. ...well, often she had a crap ton to say, but once she has a drink in her hand, it's go time for the slurp, so she was ready for that.

Eis almost looks chided when Ivory puts her two cents in. Too direct, perhaps? No matter. The pale dragon's admission to enjoying a good jab here and there speaks to the frigid Fairest. So she relents. When Riley next makes eye contact, Eis can only shrug. She picks up her newly empty glass and almost seems disappointed that a new drink hasn't magically appeared in it. Conveniently, Ivory doesn't waste time in opening the door for yet another drink. She gives Ivory an uncharacteristically playful grin at what Eis may hold to her as an offer. Then there's Lucas. Ever charming. She'll allow his compliment, she decides. She certainly doesn't need a younger man to inform her she's doing a fine job, but perhaps it would work to disarm the rest of the crowd. Maye that's simply how he operates? Even his comment on Firebringer's name is disarming and endearing. Despite having written the girl off, Lucas' delivery legitimately makes her seem more interesting. And Firebringer's retort earns a chuckle and a single snort from the icy Autumn. She covers her mouth almost immediately. This is why we hardly ever drink, dear. Apparently, Lucas and Riley are just catching up on some friendly business, and Eis shrugs it off. Which leaves only her, Ivory, Firebringer, and a new face in the mix. She gives Gavin Graves a little nod. Everyone else has only offered little one-line greetings. Pretense be damned. She stands up, strolls over to the newcomer, and offers a hand. "Eis of Autumn. You seem familiar. Autumn, as well? I'd offer you a drink, but it seems you already have the idea." Another chuckle. A tiny, faint voice in the back of her mind says this will be an evening absolutely brimming with regret.

Gavin nodded with a smile to each of the surface greetings from Ivory and Firebringer, catching the playful banter flying about mixed with tense restraint as he approached. Clearly these people have a good bit of history with each other. I Found a good mix of interesting people, a solid start. Here's hoping they're looking for new friends or have some business in the hedge. Too bad some of them are so busy.
"Been out and about in the bush on my own a spell lookin' for bits and bobs. Keeping an eye on the mountains and notables making sure to catch when they go on walkabout; you know how they can be." Everyone was familiar with the Hedge's proclivities for changing at the passing of powerful presences. Some might be less familiar with someone going out there on their own and being so casual about this usually dangerous activity. "Brought back a few tasties for the trouble and worked out an understanding with the local Gobos."
When Eis approached it was naturally the time to introduce himself "The name's Gavin Graves," he tried to offer more generally while carefully and delicately accepting the handshake. His lethal armature withheld as best he could manage, eminently qualified in the control of those limbs, not a scratch was left behind: The blender had not switched on. "Yeah, Autumn. I've made a few appearances here and there, but I've taken to walking the road a bit keeping an eye out for troublemaking Gobos. Seen more of Summer than our own while out there." He seemed pleased that someone had taken an active interest in talking to him even as he chaffed against his instincts calling for him to walk back to his solitary pacing in a familiar space--a bit of internal discord fighting it out as most beasts commonly wrestle with. He shifted his weight back and forth a bit with that nervous energy; it had to go somewhere. "I may have the idea, but some ideas bear repeating," taking a pull from his beer with a smile.
"Know anyone in need of an experienced bush-guide around here?" He reopened the conversation more broadly.

Ivory pays Lucas and Riley little mind as they slink off, presumably to talk about their history, or so the dragon believes. That was their business and, frankly, Ivory didn't really have the desire to dig in and learn more due to her mild curiosity. Leave that to the Mirror.
"That's a yes," the dragon says as Eis manages a nigh-playful smile. SHe'd signal the bartender, though it would take them a moment to round up the shots. They did just get served, after all.
"Should be fun!" Ivory offered as Firebringer grew excited and spoke of the coming season, "Although I think we Emeralds won't be in too much of a hurry to see them come." The dragon's light tone and accompanying wink signaled the words were just in playful jest. Ivory was looking forward to the events all the same... she was just happy to exist within her season for a little while.
The subtle fangs within the Pale Dragon's smile glint in the neon lights as she smiles wide at Gavin's code speak. It was admirable in its execution, but unnecessary for the current venue. There was little reason to tease the man though, even if it was tempting. Motherhood had a way of numbing out the mean girl over time. Mostly.
"A pleasure, Gavin Graves. Among our own, I'm called Ivory, out there?" she said, vaguely gesturing to the outside world, "Abigail Cartwright. And... I don't know of any immediate needs for a Hedge guide, no. You can speak plainly though, no need for code. The only people here are members of the Freehold. Otherwise the Antler Crown wouldn't have announced deaths and the ongoing investigations by the Knighthood."
A little explanation and assurances never hurt. As Gavin said, he was rarely around.
"As for who to cozy up to... I think it'd be kind of rude of me to dictate who you should chat with in your own court when you have a fellow Autumn here," Ivory said, nodding her head to Eis, "but good to know there's someone around who might be down for a little gig now and then."

Lucas' head is full of thoughts as he makes his way back to the group, carefully balancing the drinks in the process. Tonight had given him a lot to think about. A thought that was becoming more prevalent to him was how disconnected he had become from the rest of the Freehold. Sure, he knew he most of the other Freeholders were through his political connections, but he didn't really know who they were as individuals. Most of his time was spent with the dying and dead, learning their deepest regrets, and helping them find some peace in the afterlife. Over the past year, he had spent a minimal amount of time among the living who were actually out living their lives.
If he wanted to improve his good will within the Spring court, he needed to spend more time among the living. It would do his mental health some good too. He knew who he was a Winter Courtier. Who was he as a Spring Courtier? Or at least a Spring Courtier Lite. After all, raising ones good will standing within a court was more than just making friends; it was understanding what they were all about. What did he know of desire these days? If Winter Lucas was all about helping folks understand their deepest regrets and work through them, then Spring Lucas could help folks explore their desires. Just about everyone desired to feel like they were apart of something, especially on nights like this. The Fear of Missing Out was real and it could be seen in every corner of Vegas, no matter how much the neon signs tried to push it out.
Okay, Ostara rites. You want a celebration? Let's do this and get the libations going.
Lucas was all smiles when he returned to the group. He handed everyone a drink who wanted one, including the Fall new comer who he did not recognize. After wards, he settled back by Ivory's side.
Lucas waited until Riley rejoined the party, then he picked up his drink in a way that signaled he wanted to give a toast.
"The Ancient Greek's had a phrase called "Kalos" that was used to celebrate how an individual, typically in the military and almost always male, epitomized the kind of qualities everyone Greek should strive towards in whatever situation or celebration they were in; beauty, graciousness, intelligence, honor, bravery, you name it. They wanted to celebrate it. The Freehold went through a long, sorrowful winter full of losses. We have been in desperate need for new beginning and Spring has brought that to us tonight. We are far beyond the ignorance's the ancients showed and honor everyone, regardless of which gender they identify with, although we honor that too." He raised his drink towards Ivory and Riley.
"To Ivory, Riley, and every other Spring Courtier who helped put together tonight's festivities, KALOS!"
Lucas knocks back the entirety of his shot in one go.
"Dignitas Amicorum Pie Zeses Vivas! Aka Worthy among your friends! Drink that you may live. May you live!"
Lucas shifted his attention back over to Ivory, a softer smile on his face. "May I steal one of our wonderful hostesses away for a walk or another dance, before your duties no doubt take you elsewhere again?"

Fire picks up one of the shot glasses. She is ready. Something about the atmosphere really had her excited, ready to shed all of the bullshittery that came with Winter, the fractured friendships, the running around in circles, not knowing what to do with life. It's Ostara, time to rebirth with the cycle. "Cause I'm a goddamned phoenix bitches." Pause. Oh shit, I said that out loud.
She would normally have blushed, eyes widened, looking like a goof, laughing awkwardly. Tonight, she goes with it and doesn't apologize nor really continue that train of thought either. It is what it is. Spring is like that. She may be a fire, but she an go with the flow sometimes.
"I'm with Jerk Face Pretty Boi, Kalos, y'all" She raises her glass to Spring and then takes her shot in one go. There were also those seeds too right? Where the heck did she even put hers? Planting them somewhere, she assumes at some point. She'll be honest, she doesn't even remember which ones she picked up from the store. having kind of grabbed and went this morning because she'd forgotten...
She then looks over at Riley with a goofy smile, "Hey. Why are you so far away?" There is this obnoxious cute something in her orange eyes, glittering with both affection and complete mischief. Other people were cool, but they weren't Riley. It isn't even that Riley lights up a room just as they are, they just light up her room, as cheesy as that sounds. "We should get in our own shot, to bomb parties together."

Eis can't help but smile back, as the next round was, indeed, confirmed by Ivory. The Autumn Fairest might actually be having fun. And when you're having fun, why stop? She can handle another drink. The new arrival with the accent regales them with a colorful tale of his recent activities, marked by colloquialisms and coded speak, which Eis can't help but find a little endearing. If still somehow beneath her. Well, listen to him go. In some company, that might even sound coherent. Bless his heart... Still, the context of his activities bear merits, which she'd have to grill him for at some point. Just because this is a Spring celebration doesn't mean Autumn can't collectively become stronger through the sharing of ideas, after all. As Ivory wraps up her introduction, as it would so happen, the opportunity seems to present itself. Eis should probably stop after this next drink and focus on... that goal she had. Which she remembers. Obviously. Right! She wants to learn more about the Spring rituals. Before she can whisk Gavin away, Lucas returns once more and proposes a toast to Spring. And damnit, has he always been so articulate? Eis could still give half a shit about the whimsical sentiments of this season's events, but Eis finds herself, again, second guessing after Lucas' speech. "Kalos!" she replies in a consequences-be-damned tone, then slams the latest drink. Oddly enough, it doesn't burn nearly as much this time. She's got this. Yes. Though Firebringer's second use of her title for Lucas has her grinning. She leans closer to Firebringer and loudly whispers "I'm going to have to 'borrow' that phrase, dear."Eis can barely even summon the effort to be chiding and make a remark at Riley's return. They came back with Lucas, but, well... Riley isn't Lucas. Beacon of attention though they might be. To boot, Riley's date seems to want more of her attention anyway. Rather than spoil the rolling good times, she returns her attention to Gavin. "We should find a place to... discuss things. If I stay with this crowd any longer I may need a chaperone!" She lets out a laugh, inadvertently eyeing Lucas once more. "In all seriousness, though. We should talk. There's also another young man of our Court I should introduce you to." As the words leave her lips, she's already scanning the crowd for her chosen disciple, Rowan.

Riley follows Lucas back towards the others. As the Fairest raised a shot glass to a toast, Riley raised the shot of whiskey they are still nursing. The Moth's eyes flick between the gathered loss, before settling to meet Firebringers. It would be near impossible to try and make eye contact with everyone, so instead they opted for one person.
Lucas was good with words, always had been, even if it was a bit academic for the moth. Riley appreciated the sentiment, and the subtle nod to those who had passed this year. The memory of those events shadowed their mind for a moment before they came back to the present.
“Kalos-” Riley snorted at Dani’s contribution to the toast. They glance towards Ivory as Lucas offers to take them off for another walk or dance. If they needed an out Riley was sure Ivory would ask for one, or state her own intentions.
“Ah'rite, party Phoenix” The Brightone stuck out their tongue at Dani, crossing towards their date and wrapping an arm around Dani’s waist.
“If yer fixin’ for another, I’ll grab ya one. But I gotta perform still, can't be too drunk. Yet” The Brightone beams. Their eyes move to the dance floor and the other gatherings around.
“Another whiskey? Feeling dancing, or would you like to bomb someone else?”

Maks lumbered over to the bar then looked around, his face betraying nothing but internally he was frustrated. He had just seen the one matching the description he was given around here. Where did he vanish to? With a sigh. He retrieved a bottle of vodka, after seeing the label and being disappointed, it was a shame his personal favorite brand had gone out of business mid seventies, but it would suffice.
He knew one thing about these sorts of parties. Everyone went to the bar if they drank. Multiple times. So he would wait.
Like a good soldier.
