Angel felt numb as he watched the world shift and move around him in tune to the music blasting from the speakers.
It was the best kind of numb. That kind you could only get from one helluva high.
The party concert was in full swing around him as the crowd around him did its best to forget itself for as long as it could.
Just like he was doing.
He forgot what he had taken. It was quite a few illegal substances, the sheer amount would have killed anyone else; but him? Well...his Keeper made sure he was well equipped to handle such things.
Angel watched colored lights danced over the crowd in a haze.
His vision flickered and suddenly he was back in Arcadia, dark, not-quite-human shapes surrounding him, partaking in various activities with pained groans and cries, the music he once heard fading away. Suddenly he felt everything. Remembered everything. He gripped his head.
The shapes pushed various things towards him, ketamine, cocaine, acid, moon gas, every human and inhuman drug imaginable.
Angel began to seize up as his mind began to become overloaded with the noise of too much suffering.
A woman made of cherry red wood, her fingers were clawed, multicolored liquid dripping from them. “Angel, go! I’ll hold them o-“
His hand lashed out and ripped a small baggie of white powder from his pocket. He spread it along his exposed arm in a roughly straight line and inhaled through his nose sharply.
Shuddering as the cocaine entered his system, the visions of the past faded. An uneasy smile made its way across his face. A hand tapped his shoulder. He turned. It was a female, short, freckled. Beautiful. Human.
Just what he needed right now.
No true humans in Arcadia.
She tilted her head, the neon paint across her body glowing in the light. It reminded him of his own pattern, the ever shifting one hidden behind the Mask. “You alright man? You just did...well you just snorted a ton of angel dust.”
Angel chuckled but nodded. Figures he would share the nickname of a drug. The girl smiled as she grabbed his hand and began to drag him with surprising strength for one so slender. “C’mon then! Lets dance! You got energy to burn!”
He let himself be dragged along as his body settled back into a drug filled haze, numbing him up.
Maybe he could forget the past for a little while longer.
