The Beast seemed to have thought that Rowan had heard something he shouldn't have, and blamed Cinderella for gossiping. The trigger was the Darkling saying, "you have your own things to deal with." He usually wasn't this paranoid or sensitive, but it was hard to tell what was up when he had ghosted for the last couple of months. Rowan had assumed it was the natural crunch time for students, and the jackelope had to work harder than most to stay focused.
"GED, general education development. I said the wrong acronym," he chuckled. "It's your diploma if you didn't do high school."
He nodded towards the clock on the wall, "You can go any time; no one has to monitor you now that you've ate. No rush, though. But fair waring, Cinder might rope you into something like making posters."

He looked down on the empty plate and nodded. "Yeah, I'll get going soon."
Somehow, it didn't as fun being on the receiving end of silence. He understood that there were plenty of things that were above his Mantle, things he didn't need to know or worry about. There was something that Tanner was keeping from him and it didn't sit well. Call it Friendly Worry, call it Darkling Curiosity.
"You know you can talk to me, right? If something's wrong."
He wasn't looking at the Beast, because he knew he was being petulant.

Tanner shifted in his chair, offering a half smile, "Listen. It's my job that I've volunteered for. To help other Autumn courtiers, that is...? You don't need to be my therapist, Rowan," he laughed. It wasn't really answering the Darkling's prompt, but the Senior was clearly used to being 'the adult' in these dynamics.

"No, not therapist. I'm not qualified for that job," he answered coldly. His features softened a little. "A friend."
Rowan got out of bed slowly, gingerly moving to replace the sheets. He had decided he had intruded long enough. He gave Tanner one last look, almost sad. "Just. Talk to people when you need help, Tanner. I doesn't make you less of a grown up." Once the sheets were folded to his satisfaction and he was next to the door, the Darkling turned around and called out loud enough for everyone to hear him.
"Thanks for the Fruits!"
