Was he for real? The Darkling's nerves were fraying from expected doom, and Loki wanted a thesis on 'Autumn Contracts And Their Effects On Changeling Psyche'. Rowan almost face palmed.
"There is a Contract that my Court has with Autumn. It's basically the first one I've learned. It allows us to know someone's great Fear in exchange for telling them one of our own."
So far, so good. There was nothing incriminating there.
"And we can bend that Fear, replacing it with something else. Like when I replaced your fear about your daughter with a fear of water so you wouldn't go after Apollo." He mumbled quickly.
He was tense, his feet ready to leap into action. He understood how Tanner must feel.

The bottle paused as the Fireheart listened. Really listened.
The Mantle of the Court of Wrath flared, veins tightening until the skin cracked, archs of solar energy pulsing across the flesh for a brief moment. He looked pained at the mention of his deceased family. The glass steamed as he put it down, hand unclenching the neck as his lips thinned.
"...Um." His jaw knotted as he took a beat to collect his racing thoughts, attention on Rowan, "Okay. Well, you're here. I'll give you that." His eye spasmed rather than blinked. He made a point to slowly move around and away from the table with the chain, knuckles popping, but the Sword of Arcadia remaining sheathed.
"Lets go."

Before Rowan can blink or respond, the Fireheart closes the gap. For a moment, he realized why the Sentry was startled -- the branded fist connecting with his jaw, despite his own incredible reflexes.

Rowan reels from the fist, all of his senses jolting awake. He could run, but that would defeat the purpose. Sometime, one just had to stand their ground and fight back. No tricks, no Glamour. The Snowskin could summon frost to enhance his hits, but he didn't.

The Snowskin, despite the Elemental priding himself as a professional, immediately returned the punch in kind with more force and fury than the Summer. Loki's lip bleeds a bit, the surprise clear on his face as he grunts from impact.
His posture changes, tagging the exchange for Rowan to try again.

Loki was waiting for Rowan to make the first move this time. He had very little experience in formal combat, his previous tactic being wait for his opponent to die from his poison. Which would explain why the Darkling tried to hit again, embolden by his previous success.

The Elemental ducked to the right, brushing the fist aside with a return jab.
His eye was bright, paying close attention to the Darkling's habits and rapidly building a profile as he moved. The skin still cracked in waves, the smell of iron and chemical flaring like a heartbeat.
A tight jab to the gut caused stomach acid to burn the bottom of Darkling's esophagus. His brow furrowed, whipping the younger Changeling a second time on the same spot.

His failed attack and the Elemental's consecutive attacks force Rowan on the defensive as he struggles to catch his breath. He brings up his arms as his Mantle fills the garage with quiet whispers.

The Elemental sniffs as he catches his breath from the assault, noting the Mantle of Fear flooding the space with a cocked eyebrow. Rowan was going to get a nasty bruise from the repeated impact on the same area of tissue. Loki waits to see what he's going to do.

The Darkling spits blood on the garage floor. He's fighting a losing battle and he knows it.
"Right. I deserved that," he answers as he sway to stand up. "Man, Rocky must have been tough to take all those beatings." He remembered his father showing him some of those movies on VHS.
He would probably be hurt worse by trying to attack, so he tries to protect himself again. "Come at me, that's my apology." Man, he felt so cool !

As soon as Rowan says 'come at me', the Elemental responds in kind, swapping styles to a low kick. He actually laughs as the Darkling gets out of the way, despite the obvious pain.
"You done?"

His efforts felt kind of last ditch, and his quip tongue obviously fell flat. He knew it was just a matter of time at this point, so why delay the inevitable?
He switches his stance, lowering his guard and switching to full offensive in a last ditch effort. He obviously fell for the taunt.

The Darkling responded to Loki by socking him in the face, getting close where he had a complete opening. "You're done," Loki chuckled through bleeding teeth -- without rage.
The Fireheart knocked the surprisingly adept fighter on his ass, sweeping a leg of iron across the bed of his knees.
Rowan's head cracks against the floor of the garage-
