@gavin
In Wayland's phone, Gavin is represented as the emojis for a chicken, the fast-forward button, and a book.
There is a three minute break between this text and the next as Wayland struggles with complex emotions before adding:

The Beast had been conceptualizing a new application for his experimental breakthrough knowledge in ritual creation. In the gaps between Henley's playing cult leader with the college kids, Gavin had focused his efforts on the tome used as that group's sacred text. Across several sections were the practices and promises of perfected memory and he wondered if he could move it from myth to substance.
His phone buzzed several times in quick succession.
The book held mostly references to other tomes so his research would require going further afield than the source of his first success.
Carefully taking his last notes he closed the book. The phone buzzed again.
Wayland. Hmm, another project. Requiring backup? Interesting. Usually the Maker's projects required assistants or materials, not 'backup.'

The Beast was taken aback by one of the texts: 'Chuck what we can't.' Really!? He scoffed incredulously. Now that's just short sighted. Might not be able to use it now sure, but maybe later, or perhaps someone else could see a use either of us couldn't. A powerful occultist or quartermaster stored it for later, for some reason. Someone could possibly learn from it at the very least. His scholarly side was slightly offended at the notion.

And it's hard to imagine that if there was some precaution she'd need to take, he wouldn't have told her.
