The paralysis gripping the Beast's mind loosened its grip on him as he was dragged farther away from its cause through Henley's diligence in swimming him away. As he regained his senses he heard the warbling sounds of heralding trumpets carried through the water heralding the arrival of The Archon, as was custom during the Autumn. The hunt was on, but they had a lead and they needed to capitalize on it and fast.
Gavin shrugged free of his friend's assistance in mobility and gestured for the others to stick close to him. Grabbing hold of the trails of a nearby jelly fish he drew it down with him toward a bubbling volcanic vent. Cleaving the vent's calcified structure with his other claw, the gases rushed out and began filling the mantle of the transparent creature. The heat from the escaping gas and broken stone burned his hand. A bead popped when he extended some of the warp he had held to the action the creature began to glow a luminescent orange and ballooned to enormous proportions. The trailing tendrils wove themselves seemingly of their own accord into a loose basket shape. It was just shapely enough to hold the fleeing crew and allowed the water to rush by them and flow through the gaps on their rapid ascent through the water.
A handful of the mermaids continued in their reverie swimming after Nate trying linger in his presence and hold onto the high of the adventure just a little longer.
The heated gases propelled the Motley up and out of the depths, eventually outpacing Henley's groupies. Bursting through the surface of the waters they'd stirred up earlier, the runoff waters tinted their erstwhile steed and trailed a rainbow cloud of vapors behind them into the air.
Winds caught the jellyfish balloon sailing it through the air like a hot air balloon a while drafting off the lingering heat from the volcanic bubbles before setting them down in the field near the derelict power transmission lines they'd passed in the journey earlier. The Ghosts had resumed their haunting positions hanging from the structure after their dance.

Hedgespinning, No Place Like Home! Strength + Brawl + Spec + Hedge Sense + Willpower + Bushwhacker + Fate - 2 Thorns (8 again), rolled 18 dice and got 7 successes. 5 5 5 3 7 5 5 6 8(10)(8)(10)(6) 6 10(7) 3 6 3 2 4 10(8)(1) 5
The effort is an exceptional success.
1 Success spent on Gavin's chase. Leaving 6 Successes + 5 Banked available for Hedgespinning and or Paradigm Shifts.
2 Glamour spent for a Paradigm Shift, which was unlocked by exceptionally succeeding on an action designated for Hedgespinning.
9 Successes spent on 'Move your immediate environs, with a radius up to (your Wyrd x 10) yards/meters, up or down one step on
the scale from trod to normal Hedge to Thorns.' To move us up to a nearby Normal Hedge space.
The remaining 2 Successes continue to stay Banked.
Gavin takes one Lethal from his interaction with the Thorns, meeting the Loophole for activating Pathfinder and navigating for the group.

Hedge Chase:
Our stated goal is to exit the Hedge inside the Freehold where Bastille hosts the strongest defenses.
Gavin has the Edge and therefore automatically gets to go first: The Challenge is Manipulation + Subterfuge + Appropriate Spec + 4 (spinning the wheel) + Optional willpower. You may choose to use a different pool, but you lose 10-again and gain a stacking -1 penalty to all chase pools for the rest of the chase for doing so. We are not on the Trod yet and need to get at least one success each in our chases to get back on that path. This round we are simply in the Hedge, not the Thorns, and not on a Trod. Hedgespinning takes a -1 now and is 9 again.
Penalty for Failure this round is set at take Two Bashing Damage. Either from the crashing of the jellyfish or twisting an ankle or otherwise getting bashed around in the field trying to get back up onto the trod.
The Hedge's Initiative Modifier is 2 (Everyone is thrice the Hedge's Modifier, Except Henley whom is only twice that of the Hedge)
The Hedge's Speed is 10 (Everyone is faster than the Hedge, Gavin is more than twice the Hedge)
(Please indicate if you activate anything that would alter your Initiative Modifier or Speed. It does change some stuff. Or if you have a power that makes you immune to Fatigue.)
We are not travelling on an established Trod, yet.
We have a non-pressing time constraint/urgency (Currently anyway, that could change) the passage of time is magically in our favour as well.
We are travelling passed 2 Hedge Milestones along the way, lengthening our journey and thus the chase. Kraken can indicate the things we go by in her descriptors. The Archon isn't trying to reach our destination, only us. Therefore it does not need to account for the distance travelled (yikes).
The Hedge's Stated Goal is to drive us off the Trod and into Worse and Worse terrain until you are in the Thorns. Whomever gets caught gets the Lost condition and is moved to a worse terrain tier and the ST may hit you with an encounter--in this case it may result in the Huntsman catching us. We can choose to remain together and opt to Lose if one of us gets caught. The encounter happens and another chase will begin in that case as the Hedge presses to claim you further and further.
There is another party in the chase complicating it somewhat. The Archon, Huntsman for Metatron's stated goal is to catch Mitchell Carr and drag him back to Arcadia.
Complex non-hedgespun equipment that is actively used in the Hedge is affected by the Volatile condition which may cause it to go haywire if you fail in using it.
Gavin requires 6 Successes to win his Chase vs. the Hedge, which requires 11 to catch him.
Mitch requires 4 Successes to win his Chase vs. the Hedge, which requires 9 to catch him.
Henley requires 8 Successes to win his Chase vs. the Hedge, which requires 9 to catch him.
Yuan requires 6 Successes to win his Chase vs. the Hedge, which requires 9 to catch him.
The Archon requires 4 Successes to win its Chase vs. the Hedge, which requires 8 to catch it.
The Archon is only interested in catching Mitch, per conversation with Kraken.
The Archon requires 4 Successes to Catch Mitch, and Mitch will escape both the Huntsman and the Hedge with 4 Successes. (This may be adjusted by certain factors that Kraken has to feed me. A Hedgespin that nerfs the Archon's Initiative Modifier by at least 1 will add one to the required amount for it to catch Mitch).
The Hedge is starting rather middling with base stats vs this group
Any turn the Hedge has the Edge it gets +2, but Gavin has lasting control of the Edge due to his Contract.
Staying on the Trod gives it a -3. We are currently not on the Trod.
Maintaining at least one positive mental or social condition for each of us fully mitigates the pile of penalties for having negative conditions.
No one in the group is feeding the Hedge due to our high clarity.
Flickering Hours is penalizing the Hedge AND THE ARCHON by -2
The Hedge's base pool will grow by 1 each turn the Chase lasts after the first. Gaining momentum.
Conditions can change for the worse with Hedgespinning, or someone starts bleeding out and needs medical attention.
Mitch having unleashed Bedlam with an exceptional Success has fed the Hedge a +3 to its chase pool.
Gavin having removed the group from the Thorns, has reduced its pool by 3.
The Hedge's Pool for Round 1 is 6 dice. Kraken may alter that with circumstances. (for perspective it would have been 11 if Gavin didn't do what he did and didn't have his contracts.)

Gavin is at 1 of 6 required successes to win his chase.
Spent 2 Glamour using a bead, 1 Willpower.
