The normally care-free Winter seemed to be gaunt these days, sticking out even in the din of everyone settling in for the Rite. Her dreads were wrapped, piercings removed for the Hunt and lacking any makeup. The serrated Glasgow smile was clenched and sawing as she watched Mitchell Carr speak with the King of Autumn. Learning about her roommate potentially slipping into a waking dream amidst action and combat was equally alarming and eternally frustrating. He thought to bring it up now? Really? The idiot was trying to barter an understanding by directly appealing to Papa Saturday, still under the assumption that Winter courtiers would be participating with the rest, and her unable to tell him otherwise without a clash of Oaths. As the banshee's attention swivels to catch Ser Alexandrite or Santiago, balking as they land on Riley Sorsa. "I'm a little bu-"As Sorsa laid out that they needed representation to help Winter on the Hunt, Cailleagh's lips thinned, eyes darting left and right as the other Darkling desperately searched for an out. Riley didn't need to beg: it was unspoken that an inability to settle their crimes would be casting them out into the potential arms of the Gentry. "Here? Now? I don't owe you that much, babe. You don't have some old connections to mine instead of throwing me under the bus?"
It was then the Dancer rejoined his friend, clearly stressed as he smoothed his hair and only noticing Riley with delayed perception. He looked a little stunned, and the Nightsinger was immediately snapping her fingers, "Earth to Mitch! I'm guessing you're still going?" She didn't wait for the affirmative, already shaking her head, "Talk to Alex. I can't- I gotta be somewhere—I can't blow your brains out with a sonic bullet. Maybe Santiago? I saw him with Piper. Everyone knows you don't fight, why is this year any different?"
Mitch kept glancing back to Riley, clearly distracted from what Cailleagh was saying to him, but he nodded without protest or questions. With what they knew from cleaning up in Whitney, Mitch being nervous about getting involved with the Hunt this year was his desperate attempt at safety over any form of cowardice or distaste. The pleading tone from Cailleagh told that she was thinking this was a moral hang-up over an issue of fugue. The faerie side of Riley whispered that they had used their Token the charm Carr before, and he would likely be easy to lean on to get the reluctant Winter to risk tarnishing her reputation with her court.

The exchange with Cailleagh was shorter than Riley had hoped. As the night singer moved on, the Moth ran a hand through their hair before turning their dark eyes onto Mitch.
"Seems like both of us are havin' a time tonight."
Riley glanced back towards the Autumn King that Mitch had just been speaking to, for a moment trying to glean further insight into the interaction and requests Mitch had made. But With the haunting gaze of the Oni and time being critical, Riley wasn't able to parse much more without asking questions.
"I know I am the last person you need on your plate tonight," Riley offered kindly, holding up their hands.
"But I am tryin' to shake this oath thang. Make up to Winter"
Something you know all about.
"Caill is my best bet in getting winter to play ball and for me to help them tonight. You don't owe me, jack, but I return my favors. "
The darkling gave Mitch the rundown of the idea. While Calli will be sticking her neck out briefly, Riley was sure winter would overlook it for this opportunity. Either Riley was helpful to what they had planned, or if something happened to the Moth, their darkling problem is gone by the end of the night.

Mitch chuckled helplessly, "Well, I kind of did this to myself."
The war-song sound Elemental was spotted among some of Solomon's vassals, and the grin the Fairest flashed as tight. "Mmkay. Not the end of the world," he muttered mostly to himself, noting Kai at least. His attention swung back to Riley on instinct as they raised their hands, already appearing apologetic for being so distracted.
"It's no trouble," he assured quietly, wincing as he snapped his fingers on reflex. Further concern set in, where Mitch clearly thought Riley's pitch was a bad idea. With the incentive that they could die and be rid of the problem, his posture sagged, looking more affected than the Moth had hoped for. As the Fairest's sense of responsibility was tapped, along with his own personal morals, Mitchell was unnaturally still as he weighed options.
Cailleagh was the only Winter he knew who wouldn't choose to endanger Riley.
"Does Archie know...?" there was a beat as he confirmed what was going on, hoping the prompt would land as he moved to lean on Cailleagh. The conversation appeared tense, the Nightsinger rolling her eyes at how serious her friend looked as he said whatever he needed to say. She snapped something, razor teeth flashing as she raised her hands, breezing back to Riley as Carr's face twitched and he defensively folded his arms.
"Fuck. Fine! We can't swear an Oath, but I'll whisper an appropriate target before you imbibe the Rite." She couldn't say more, but even Carr was beginning to understand why the other couldn't help him. She grinned with a sardonic thumbs up at the Spring noble, mouthing 'you owe me', but not receiving the usual light hearted sarcasm to diffuse the tension. Another awkward moment passed with Riley having to stand there, as Cailleagh blinked, and gestured insistently for Mitchell to get his ass over to Santiago. As the Dancer drifted to follow the prompt, Cailleagh leaned to whisper in Riley's ear.
"If he gets...worse...on account of you getting yourself hurt, Riley, I-" her jaw clenched, the threat ultimately hollow as her heart wasn't in it. Rather, she just sighed and pulled them both to a spot to sit for the arrival of the Queen and Magistrate.

"Mitch is one of the last people I want to see hurt"
Riley said in a dry and forward tone to the winter courtier with a gentle nod.
"Look, me gettin' hurt tonight won't be nearly as bad if I get ripped to shreds by the fae cause my freehold oath expires; I don't think that will help Mitch either. "
They follow Calli, before pausing as the queen enter. Leaning in they whisper in a thankful tone.
"I appreciate this, I'll make it up to ya"
