The Foundation Room...that was a weird name for a rooftop bar, located at the pinnacle of the Mandalay Bay. You know, because Foundations were at the bottom, not the top. Hilarious thought in his own mind, he would have to add that somewhere into his stand up routine if he ever made one. Either way the bar - It was gorgeous, mood lighting on point, couches were comfy, bar was well stocked, it just had an amazing atmosphere to it as it gazed over the whole of the city. It was a fantastic place to simply be above it all, away from the problems that existed on the ground. However, high up in the heavens there was a problem, Riley Sorsa. Schedules, work, grieving, therapy, and a desire to just not all had kept the two of them distant since Litha, but Archie had left a curt text message for the Darkling. He gave them a time, a place, and a sense that this wasn’t really an option. The Chatelaine had a seat, a royal purple blazer and slack combo that in the lighting could pass in a formal setting with the contrast of a soft mint shirt beneath. This was complemented with an old fashioned in hand, a change in palate maybe? Why not, everything else was changing. They had themselves a private corner, far enough away that the music would over power their conversation but mask most of it. Riley Sorsa

Riley had been keeping a low profile after the events of Litha. But, as Oren had said, Oath breaking was a bad look, and Riley first had seen where that put them with many and how well they handled that. Most days, they kept to themself, go to work, go home. In public, they hid their face and strengthened the mask. Small protective incentives as they tried to get this mess sorted. Riley even had given some distance with Archie. He was setting up important things and had his own reputation for mending. Having an oath breaker around would only make it worse. So seeing the text, the Moth knew it was serious. They wore a familiar emerald suit and had their hair pinned back, but tonight not with their Token. It drew attention, and contrary to the Bright One's nature, they avoided that these days. However, even with the judging gaze of the Freehold, Riley kept it stylish. "Evenin' Arch'" Riley says as they take an across from their Motley mate. A smile on their face hiding their apprehension.

With drink in hand the Chatelaine motioned towards the couch across from him so they could look at each other, but have enough distance that his back would be safe from any knives. As Riley found their assigned seat he would finish the drink he had in hand and let the glass down with a hollow thud and let the wyrd weave through the air as he set the expectation of exactly who was going to be leading this conversation.
Before speaking he waved his fingers signaling another drink
“That the fuck is wrong with you Riley? Because let me be clear that I have let this shit stay out of hand for too long and let the idea that we’ll just figure things out as they come be a piss poor excuse on my end.”
As he finished his drink slipped into place.
“Do you not get how sick and tired I am of not knowing what is going on. Of sitting here and feeling like I can’t do shit because you don’t think I need to know what's going on? I’m sorry to say this but Linden’s gone, and we are stuck with one another now. So I would prefer we get on the same fucking page, because I can’t storm in like Linden and decapitate your ex after whatever garbage he was pulling.”
The Chatelaine was not going to be interrupted, finger raised to hush the moth if they tried.
“So now I wear Summer’s bullshit because their caveman creed has the nuisance of an angry toddler, and I am wearing the fact that the only other person I am attached to doesn't respect our most basic rules.”
“So pay me the respect I am worth.”
His agitated tone, and pace left no illusion he was angry. He clearly didn’t know what was going on and was continuously blindsided by the disastrous outcomes of Riley’s actions as much as everyone, meaning that what was the point of being in a Motley if he wasn’t worth consulting.

"I-" Riley flinched and fell silent as the deluge of anger came from their motley mate. He was right to be angry; Riley couldn't blame him for that.
The moth understood how to take a beating. They tried now to bow their head and actively kept eye contact, and showed they were listening. The action was hard the best of times; it didn't come naturally. But, of course, Royal Court made it hard not to listen to the power of Archies voice and give him the respect demanded by the Wyrd.
Once Archie was done, demanding respect and satisfaction, the moth waited. The words were trapped as they tried hard how to say it.
"I wanted to tell you. But I was bound by oaths of secrecy. One of which I accidentally broke because of a change in circumstances and being distracted.
The other..."
Riley fidgeted with the napkin on the table. Unfortunately, this one didn't have a satisfactory explanation.
" The other I was trying to be clever. Find a way around it, and it backfired. "
They linger for a moment glancing at Archie.
"With everything going on after Beltane...I didn't want my presence making things harder..." But, of course, they already knew it did anyways.

“All this cowboy nonsense hasn’t accomplished anything. It already feels slimy talking to you and I don’t know where the disrespect for the wyrd starts versus the disrespect for me. I was never privy to anything, never a word, thought or care. Left to watch at Litha while whatever happened happened, and that entire gaggle acted despicable - yourself included. Do you know how sick I am of feeling the world shrink and shrink and shrink around me all because everyone doesn’t know how to ask a fucking question. So let's start with that, huh? What can you tell me? One of us has to act like this an actual motley and I think we both know you aren’t in position to take the part.”

They listen, trying not to fidget in the discomfort of the conversation at hand. Archie was right, but they had failed as a motley member. The road to hell was paved in good intentions seemed more accurate than ever.
"I'll try," they said regarding the access of information. Of course, only so much could be said after all.
"You were there when my Oath broke to Lucas. It was accidental. I was just tryin' to get everyone on the same page and..." They took a deep breath. There was a lot about how that Oath broke that still hurt and how it had been formed that drove them mad.
"I wanted to talk to Lucas about it, called him. He never responded. Litha...I-I shouldn't have done that. I was just so angry after what Eurydice said"
The moth takes a deep breath. The next part gave Riley pause. Talking around Imbolc had been the problem, and the Oath had broken, not directly by their own action, but from the ripples it caused.
"The other Oath relates to Imbolc. I can't say more than that" They were hesitant, looking up to Archie.
"That is my fault and blame I take willingly. It was driven by curiosity and fear."
They take a moment and breath in.
"I wasn't tryin' to hurt you. But I can see how I have. These oaths bound me to silence. Their circumstances kept me from confidin' in you and Lin. With Lucas, I tried. "

“Lucas, Lucas, Lucas - I am sick of Lucas already you know? Because it just sounds like you never trusted me, or Linden for that matter to pull through - the three of us. Instead this guy was going to accomplish anything for us? In secret? Just with you? You are Spring, you hope, that doesn’t mean get taken in like a fool, Riley.”
Vitriol...Was it directly at them? The actions? The situation? The mix?
“Fuck Eurydice - Chugunkin will handle it, and if it comes to it I will black list anyone and everyone who ever tries to make something of themselves around her. It isn’t hard when the waste is already toxic.”
He pinched the bridge of his nose before running a hand over his forehead pushing his hair back.
“I get it - I’m a big joke but at least I can keep my shit in order. Now look at, we have learned exactly 4 things.”
He raised a finger to punctuate each point.
“Autumn’s sly”
“Spring’s try”
“Winter’s lie”
“Summer’s die”
His fingers came down as he reached and snaked his fresh glass. He let it sit with the Moth for a moment.
“Now we, the two of us, we’re a joke and a disaster. Everyday I sit back and contemplate if it is worth dealing with anyone of us. Because apparently I can’t even play wallflower with you and is it going to Lucas next time? Eurydice? Why not Mitch?”

Riley grit their teeth. As Archie used Linden on Riley. That was a low blow. The Darkling opens their mouth to get a word in but pauses as the Fairest spirals in his anger over the situations they found themself in.
"Lucas came to me for help and an exchange of favors. I tried to allow you and Linden to know. I wasn't going behind your back."
Unable to tell the whole truth felt like trying to swim with their hands bound. "Well, you better get used to Lucas cause I am not rid of that mess till I fix this. Which I am tryin' to do."
The bright One listened as he listed the lessons of the seasons, flinching at the mention of summers dying. Then he listed who would be next for Riley to blow up, what would be the next big spectacle, social fuck up, the next scandal.
Lucas? "I don't know." Eurydice? "I don't know." Mitch? "I don't know, Arch! I didn't plan it; I was scared, isolated, angry and hurtin' somethang awful,. I just snapped, okay?"
They chewed their lip and tapped the table before looking up at Archie. He kept ragging on himself.
"You aren't a joke, Archie. If you were a joke, no one would pay you any mind. You wouldn't be in this situation if you weren't so proud. You know that? You can explain your actions to me, Linden, Chugunkin. But they don't want a why. You can pay for as many parties or memorials and throw money at the Freehold all you like. But they wont forgive you until you say, 'I am sorry, I fucked up.' "
It was a part deflection and part truth. Riley was trying to keep their voice level and calm. They had practice with a superior scalding them and having to keep their own attitude in check.
"Arch, if there is anythang we can learn from what has happened to me, is the Freehold holds value in words. " They breathe, trying to find what they meant in this.
"Sometimes ya have to say it, cause your worth more than your services, Arch."

“I do, don’t I? You made that decision for us, that the two of us are going to have to put up with Lucas. I am absolutely thrilled. It really feels like this is going to be for nothing. But if we are going to make it through, it is something we will have to do.”
His implications was to be that he wasn’t wanting to be on the sidelines, watching this tragedy continue
Riley was quick to isolate and deflect the current
“Words do have value, everything has value. If someone wants to hear it, they can come and ask for it rather than feel entitled to it because of their manufactured outrage. If no one saw the decency to speak with me, I’ll pay them the same respect. Consider it a thing - I don’t appreciate barbarity as a means of due process.”
There was a depth to the Chatelaine’s position, not hard to suss out from his words though the kernel of it may be buried deeper than the surface.
“And here we are, worth more than services, and you couldn’t confide with me. And I had to watch the fall out. And I keep reliving those moments. Asking did it almost happen again? If I I am worth more, will you start treating me like it?”
The anxiety behind the rage began to bleed through the frustration he had with the dancer as he asked them for something genuine.

"You know that's not how it works. "Riley remarked about Archies desire for others to ask, to come and speak decently. Riley had seen what Archie can do with a rumor, good or bad, within the Entertainment industry. Once something was in the public ear, no one went looking for the truth from the excused. "You're going to wait for every person in the hold to come and ask you? After what Loki put out there? "Riley hated how justice had been served, built on rumors and rage. No one had asked, no evidence was sought. And everyone who watched just nodded their head like sheep taking an angry fist as justice. But just cause the Moth hated it didn't change the fact it happened. Riley looked to Archie, trying to read him at that moment. If he had any doubt about handling this or if he was grounded to its conviction. They couldn't get a read on him, his face stern, and the power of the contract made him feel confident and in charge. They stop and pause. They don't know what more to say to Archie. They told him they were bound by secrecy; how could they have confided? "I am trying," they say softly to his request to be treated better. They linger there in silence before speaking again. "I saw Agrippa before they..," They say, looking at the table. "I wanted their side of the story; I owed them that. They were Linden's...and my friend" It was a soft explanation of why they wanted to hear the Unicorns side. "Hearing it. I wondered, feared, if you would have done that to me if I had failed to perform. I get show biz; I know the nature of it. I know what you were trying too do-" They stop and sigh. It didn't matter. "I am sorry I cost you," Riley says, passing on the message Agrippa had asked. "Agrippa wanted me to tell you that. They wanted you to know that they truly felt that" They fidget for a moment. Even now those words so honest from Agrippa felt false from the moth. Riley felt lost like everything was meaningless as it spilled from their cursed lips. "The worst part about it is I don't even trust myself. The words that come out, feel rotted and sick. My gut churns when I talk." They crossed their arms, gripping one forearm tightly. "The harder I try to be genuine, the faker I feel. I can see it in your eyes, in Mitch's, Dani's, everyone. I was tryin' to help" They felt the wyrd twist of their words in their mind. An attempt at honest turned into a razor blade against their tongue. "I am used to being judged, but this...this is somethang else. Because I feel it too, how can I be honest when I don't trust myself?"Finally, Riley makes eye contact with Archie. "How can I say sorry when it always feels wrong? How can I tell the truth when it tastes like lies? How can I know what is..." They stop their words, choke; their heart was beating fast, and their breathing was shallow. Breath. Slow down. Through feast and famine we build our way forward together: our strengths shared, our burdens and desires held by many hands. I know you will celebrate with me, grieve with me, and open your door to me no matter the storm. For a year and a day I swear to stand by you, as you stand by me, and I am prepared for the consequence should I prove myself a liar.
I am not a liar."I am sorry for what I did."
