The venue Eis had chosen was La Cave; a cozy and welcoming retreat from the ordinary. It isn't the place you go to be seen, though the price point may suggest it (a bit pricier than a typical restaurant chain). It's the place you go when you want the atmosphere to cultivate a sense of privacy, despite being surrounded by other patrons. Chock it up to ambiance. The soft lights and simple but elegant décor seem to suggest polite, hushed tones. You would, of course, still get the occasional raucous crowd - it is Vegas, after all. La Cave's menu features tapas style plates of everything from seafood to beef carpaccio to vegan entrées, and they have quite the selection of wines. But the three of them are fortunate this evening. Couples and after-work gatherings seem to comprise the scene. Eis, wearing a rather out-of-character black strapless dress, is waiting for Archie and Blaze in the lobby. She's secured a table ahead of time, of course. But it seemed the polite thing to wait for them. Maybe they'd appreciate the painstaking efforts she's taken to make them feel welcome and reflect her genuine respect for what is to come. It's unnerving for her, really. This 'watching her prospective be judged'. Archie's receptiveness isn't something she can control. And he's certainly had his share of bad shakes among their peers of late. He's got every reason in the world not to blindly accept another into the agreement. So, plainly, Eis is anxious. She isn't even sitting when the next of her party arrives. Such is her anticipation. @archie Blaze

Le Cave described itself as a 'hideaway', and Blaze appreciated the choice of venue. It was a bit on the expensive side for her, but at least everyone there will be used to quiet conversations and expectations of privacy. She takes in the restrained design as much as she can before noticing Eis waiting in the restaurant lobby. What is that thing she's wearing? Blaze doesn't know the Autumn Courtier nearly as well as she wished, but even to her the dress seemed a bit outside of the Fairest's usual style. For her part, the Torrent is dressed much more conservatively: button down shirt, gray trousers and pumps. The most inoffensive 'business casual' she could find.
"Racy."
She smiles at the Snowskin warmly, but her attempt at levity is quickly squandered by a realization that there's something much more out of place about Eis than the dress. Subtle hints of something like concern shine through, and it makes Blaze worried.
"Good to see you. Is... everything alright?"

There would be at least a few moments for the pair to get their greetings in without interruption as the Chatelaine finally arrived, stopping at the front where the hostess was and striking up what appeared to be a friendly conversation. There were smiles, there was laughing, a card was exchanged, and the hostess would motion towards the courtiers with Archie’s gaze following, offering a smile and nod from across the room so as not to compete with the din of the venue.
Crossing the space, Archie found his seat and joined the two, his attire somewhere between the two with a brown suit with white pinstripes and an emerald shirt beneath it. As was customary his phone found its way out of his pocket and face down to this right as he muted notifications using his watch making it impossible for anyone short of Riley or Clint able to get a hold of him.
“Hope I haven’t kept the two of you waiting, Archie - a pleasure.”
The second half was directed to blaze who’s acquaintance he had yet to make. Past this he would only stop the waiter to order the Chateau Clinet, 2005 and have them bring a charcuterie board, otherwise leaving the floor for the Fall Courtier to fill in the void.

Eis perks ever so slightly at Blaze's arrival. Now or never, isn't it? She dismisses the comment on her choice of apparel with a flick of her wrist, but conjures something adjacent to a polite smile.
"What!? Of course!" she lies. Clearly. As if sensing how ridiculous she sounds, she adds "I've just got a lot riding on this evening. But... where are my manners? Please, come join me. I've already reserved a table."
With little hesitation, Eis leads Blaze to the table she's been seated at. Presently, there are only three glasses of water. Eis couldn't accurately assume her guests' choices. None the less, she's chosen a strategic, triangular arrangement of chairs around a smaller round table. To facilitate that sort of 'equal shares' atmosphere. And because, frankly, a booth would be an awkward exercise. 'Who sits next to whom' and all that nonsense.
"I suppose I should advise you ahead of time," Eis begins, once they've gotten to their seats. "that this is just business. The fact that we can tolerate each other shouldn't influence anyone's decision. Nor should anything you may have heard about Archie and his... friends." She lets that it for a moment. Blaze had likely heard about Linden's passing. Possibly even the ruckus at Beltane. The Autumn can only hope the pros outweigh the cons for the Winter. And, by default, the Spring.
Speaking of which...
"Not at all, Archie. You're practically the guest of honor." Yet another weighted comment. She hopes he'll appreciate it. The last thing she wants to do is snub her host - ironic that she's the one who invited the two of them tonight. But her mind is on the library. And a chance at brushing the dust off some Freehold History.
Her eyes flit between Archie and Blaze. Once again, her habit of not making introductions on another's behalf shines through. Others may not understand it - even possibly find it odd - but she doesn't mean enough to anyone to merit that sort of thing. No one is wrapped around her arm, after all. But after introductions have been made, she doesn't hesitate to get to the meat of things.
"As I'd mentioned before, I've considered Ms. Palmer as a potential 'plus one' for our arrangement. Since she comes from stock who value privacy," she flashes the Winter a look and a slight nod. "I thought she'd make an excellent fit. But enough out of me." She looks between the two of them, expectantly.

Blaze follows Eis dutifully to the table, chewing on what has been said. She didn't say a word to comment on the Snowskin's fears and warnings, feeling like it would somehow contaminate them. Muddy the waters. No, a simple nod and an attentive look sufficed to convey that she took all of this seriously. It doesn't take long for the man of the hour to arrive, helpfully dressed in his Court's colours. Blaze gives him a polite smile, rising from her seat to shake his hand resolutely if he'd be partial to it.
"The pleasure is all mine, Archie. Sofia Palmer, but if we're on first name basis..."
The Elemental doesn't look like she'd mind that. Archie looke like a man of means - certainly enough of them to treat them to an expensive vintage with no certainty of return on investment.
"Rebecca is very kind. I have already informed her of my familiarity with researching the past, and my interest in the science of dreams and the mind, which may also be of use depending on the subject. That said, I'd be interested to hear more about the research project. Naturally, even if we don't end up working together, I will not reveal what was said today or that the meeting ever took place. Confidentiality is standard practice, even if the need for privacy wasn't stressed as strongly as it was here."

Archie took the world of the Eis’ cohort with a grain of salt. The last person who had made him a mundane promise had taken every opportunity to disavow themselves from their word. So he would try to be more careful about the motive from Sofia versus the blind trust he had granted other Lost. “I really do appreciate the sentiment, it is really just something I would like to keep on the down low. No need to raise a fuss, right?”Wine and board hit the table as he finished speaking, a glass quickly poured for each of them. “Rebecca has proven to be someone I can respect and as such I respect her judgement in inviting you. An endorsement means a lot when it comes from someone you can trust. So when it comes to easing ourselves into some sort of deal it goes a long way. Firstly there are really two questions I am curious about. First is what skill set do you bring to a traditional book cracking study? Second, what value do you find in history in general?”Simple questions to start, but ones he found critical. SK- Archie — Today at 9:42 PM

Blaze nods, taking a sip from her glass.
"Right."
Not raising a fuss would be good. On that note, they have a nice, quiet spot in the restaurant, but Blaze doesn't let it lull her into a false sense of security. The answer she gives, though genuine, is peppered with implications and understatements she deemed necessary in these surroundings.
"I have a solid understanding of the matters the project was said to deal with, so research capacity for one, but I can be of help especially when book-cracking just isn't enough. Fieldwork, material recovery, studying non-standard sources, that kind of thing. Sooner or later any subject worth studying brings people out of a library." She watches them both for immediate reactions "For the value of history, it has one because it keeps us wise to opportunity and danger: if we know the past, we can protect ourselves and grow in the present. It also allows us to honor the sacrifices of those who came before us."
Blaze's tone and expression are kept neutral and professional, but some things do shine through: she's honest, for one thing, but it's more than that. The Sprite looks like someone who truly feels the weight of this meeting and does her best to appear in a positive light.

A forward enough answer was given and the basic answer of the cyclical nature of history so it checked out.
"Honestly, it sounds like you bring the chance to really expand this little side project with more than just curling up in our little nook and tracing through literature. I can see the appeal of getting to go on field trips. It does sound excitement that there is a chance for Rebecca to really dig into the subject matter and track down things in real time versus having to muse on her own. Any particular skills sets you think would be of value to the project?"
He sipped at the red wine as he rested his eyes on the Onyx as he asked them to expand upon their resume.

It doesn't take long for Blaze to answer: her previous words being apparently interesting enough to warrant further interview, she answers with confidence that nevertheless steers well away from bragging. You don't want to overpromise when you just enter the public eye, and then get a reputation for not delivering.
"I have specialized military training and a master's degree in psychology, with my own practice. Probably not the first things you think of when you think 'research projects', but the value lies in diversity - if it was just about reading, there'd be no need to involve anyone but the two of you. So whether you need to interview a living source, interpret a dream or vague memory, convince someone to share their own research or kick down a door when all else fails, I'd be happy to assist."
There's another sip of wine to punctuate that she's done talking for the moment.

Eis takes a leisurely, backstage approach to the two making introductions and discussions. It is, after all, in her best interest for the two to make a connection. Praise from both of her companions iis enough to stroke the Fairest ego that always seems to lurk around the corner of every polite conversation. She busies herself behind a glass of wine and some thinly shaved ribbons of Iberico ham, eyes flitting between the two as they exchange. Overall? The mood is positive. Eis's hopes of Blaze being accepted seem almost assured - which she'd happily take credit for. Small victories in the form of being a good judge of character. Her initial worries over Belatane's events haven' even come up in conversation. A wonderful relief for what could have become an awkward conversaion.
Following a pause from Blaze, Eis turns to look at Archie once more. "Initial impressions?" A brow quirks in challenge. "My opinion on Sofia's merits, I'm sure, only carry so far. But based on her skillset, I believe she'd be a good fit." She spares Blaze a reassuring glance and a half-nod of approval. "Ultimately, it's your decision to make. My agreement to your terms puts this in your 'court'. As it were."

Satisfied, Archie Hartman keeps to his initial agreement with Eis and the Wyrd, including Blaze on their collective project...
