Another history lesson finished. If you can call it that. Eis' mind during the class was on something else entirely. She'd resorted to a historical documentary and a homework assignment for the students to summarize what they learned from the video. She dismisses the class, with an "Except for you, Leith." which, of course, resulted in some snickering and students letting out 'oooohs'. Which, of course, earned a scathing "That's enough. The rest of you, enjoy your evenings. I want a minimum of two pages. Single spaced!"
Eis waits at the door for the rest of her students to depart, then closes it and returns to her desk. She eyes her student, patiently. "You're not in trouble. I just wanted to talk to you. You can bring your chair up here, if you like." She waits for him to take up the offer. Or not. Whichever makes him feel more comfortable. She's going to have to be delicate with this. He may not even know that she'd been notified of his visit to the police station. She watches him. Assessing his receptiveness to talk to her.

Ms. Goodman was not a nice teacher. The fact that she wasn't exactly liked created a feedback loop of students never really giving her the benefit of the doubt, doing small things to piss her off throughout the year so they could brag to each other, and then subsequently get mad when she actually did any discipline to manage it. She became an accessory to anyone's story of rebellion, because she was an easy target that no one felt bad to frown about: just a miserable adult that should have quit but for some reason clung to education. Leith kept his head down, knowing from his own experience that it just wasn't worth engaging. She was fair, and didn't do anything to mess with grades if she didn't like you, or punish the entire class when one decided to be an asshole. Plus, his mother would have had his hide if she got a call from the principal for any disrespect to authority. He didn't really have the self awareness to note her pride when someone answered her earnestly and showed a glimmer of inspiration, or how hard she pushed everyone to be their best, but she was fair. When she asked for him to stay, his expression blanked. It could have been nervousness, or deflecting everyone else's attention that he didn't care. He showed no signs of finding is suspicious or weird, just curious as he did everything in his power to not show 'attitude.' His hand was on his phone and occasionally wandered to check the time, not wanting to miss the bus to meet his friends at the mall. "Oh, uh-" he dragged the chair, blinking at the request. "What's up?"

She nods in approval when he grabs a chair. Though internally she's trying to assure herself that she can do this.
"I promise not to keep you long, but I need your help with something. I also need you to trust that as your teacher I have your best interests in mind." She takes a deep breath. Exhales. "So. When I tell you that I know about the police talking to you, know that it's not unusual for a teacher to be notified about things like that. The little girl. The one who gave you the note? She needs to be found. I was hoping you could answer some questions about her. What do you say? Are you willing to help?"
Eis could have laid it on thicker for the young man, but she isn't keen on the idea of riling him up. So long as he is her student, they'd be seeing one another frequently. Hell, all the time. This wouldn't be like the ladies at church or the clerk at the bookstore if things get uncomfortable.

Leith frowned as she threaded that the police were talking to her.
"Um. I thought I already told them everything?" He blinked, having a hard time maintaining eye contact.

"Well you're not talking to them, now, are you? It's just us here. And who is to say I'm going to ask the same questions? Sometimes we remember little details we've forgotten when different questions are asked. By different people." She offers a very toned down smile. Anything more would be creepy. Especially coming from her. "I have a few questions for you, but I'll start with this: what does Isla look like? You can't find someone if you don't have a reference." Eis interlaces her fingers and leans back just a little. "What do you remember?"

"Brown hair," he started, still roving his attention elsewhere and making himself smaller. "Little kid, like I don't know, six or eight? Messy hair and thin. Messy clothes."

Not much to go on. But then he's a teenager, nervous, and probably would prefer to be somewhere else. "Well, you were right to go to the police. She's too young to be out on her own without her parents around. Did she ever tell you where she lives? Or where she goes to after meeting with you?"

Leith zones out for a beat.
"She's uh-"
His brow pinches, thinking, "I th-think she's probably around that park off Pecos and Washington? Number seven bus is the one I kept running into her on." He started moving, offering a friendly smirk and hoping she was placated.

Eis holds up a finger. "A moment. I promise we're almost done. Is there anything else you haven't told me? Anything at all, no matter how trivial, that might make it a little easier to find her?" Her eyes narrow. She isn't completely oblivious to how this whole conversation might make him uncomfortable, and feels a small pang of guilt for so obviously using her authority over him to put him on the spot. But this is important. Anything left out might push them further steps behind the girl and her entourage of hobs.

"No, m'am," he said, expression neutral as he met her gaze. "We're good, right?"

"Of course. Thank you for your help." Eis gestures for the door. "Off you go."
That was that, then. She'd gotten a bus number and a general location of where the girl might live. Picking her out from a crowd would still prove to be difficult... that security footage from the music store would be invaluable. Eis slumps forward at her desk, pinching the bridge of her nose. Progress has been too slow. She and Bella has been chasing leads up and down Vegas, but every clue seems to fall short of actually locating the girl. They need help. Eis pulls out her phone and sends a series of texts. First and foremost being to Bella.

Bella's phone call goes to voicemail.
