It had been far too long since their first meeting. One may have thought that it was something that had since been forgotten considering the results of their last get together. So the three Springs who had previously had a constructive conversation were set to meet again, this time over a nice meal versus renting out a section of a fancy bar. Thought bottomless Mimosas were on the table. Absent was Ivory, who had - despite trying to mend things - still walked out on their first meeting and thus wasn’t going to be making an appearance. The Joys of Therapy. The trio had a nice table arranged on the second floor of the establishment, just at the edge of the balcony looking over the ground floor. Archie had picked up Riley to cut down on time and they were currently just waiting for Agrippa to make an appearance. The Fairest was rocking an brown today with white pinstripes, his blazer hung on the back of his shair and the sleeves of his white shirt rolled up - accompanied with a green and silver bowtie. “So after I had finished just chatting and getting a read on the situation I figured that I may as well make my move right? I assumed that despite the loosey goosey nature of everything, and the fact that her current suitor was shirtless I could pull her away. Bing, bang, boom, by the end of the night the Dragon and the Maker are all lovey dovey and I can pat myself on the back for making it happen.”He was happily musing about Ostara antics that weren’t simply gushing about how amazing Riley’s performance had been, having sent them WOW every morning for the first week after. Riley had thrown on a pair of cut-off shorts and a cropped fringed denim jacket over their rehearsal leotard. They sat cowboy boots up on one chair as they nursed a mimosa slowly.
"I was surprised to see 'em out on the dance floor. Super cute. They look good together. Don't know if they will click or not, but time will tell. "
Riley chuckled.
" Ya ever thought, throwing the towel in on this manager thing. And starting a dating network, just you match-making? Hell, it could be for the community and all. Sure, Philicia could make a job title just for it. "
The Verdant Tinder. Blossoming Heart. The cherub.
They gave the Fairest a bemused smile before taking a look at the Menu.

"There you are!"
Agrippa slipped between the tables and chairs of other patrons, a flash of pink and mint against the grey carpet and beige walls. They grinned up at the duo as their hand fell of the back of an unoccupied chair right next to Riley.
"Didn't keep you waiting too long, I hope! Had trouble spotting you hiding all the way up here. You wouldn't think that such a brilliant pair of friends would be so hard to spot!"
The unicorn chuckled at their own wordplay as they dragged out the seat and maneuvered themselves into it.
"How are the both of you? Decided on what you are getting yet?"

“Don’t tempt me, I have enough time these days to get something going on the side so why not dating particularly in the community? I’d tag Mitch but I think it is uncouth to ask a Bishop about everyone's dateability.”
He mused lifting his drink to his lips, its color matching the sweating pitcher in the middle of the table - it was at this point when they were joined by the Grips himself.
“Mmm - First of all bottomless Mimosas so let's see if we can meet the challenge shall we? Secondly do we need a book an eye appointment? Riley here is absolutely glowing.”
It was a tsk tsk rib, all in good fun.
“As for food, I’ll let you two make your own calls but lobster grilled cheese? Oof, don’t tell the other Jews - I’ll just make sure I pretend it was a mistake. Who knew lobster was shellfish? Not this guy.”
He stopped to enjoy that sweet brunch time mimosa again.
“So,”
He directed at Agrippa.
“Small talk - have you decided which manager you are feeling? Things are getting tense, rumour is Red team is going to be told saddle up or else so I assume we aren’t too far behind so I am trying to put at least the seed of choice in the consciousness of my closer friends in the department. Riley and I have made our call.”
Was it really small talk? Not really but it was an offside opener that was not what they had talked about last time and something that needed to be brought up anyway.

Riley smiled, raising a hand in greeting as Agrippa approached. Riley brushed off Archie's remark about glowing with a roll of their eyes. The Manager jumped straight to business as he was want to do. However, the Moth took a more casual approach.
"Afternoon Pen. You're lookin' good." They smile, gesturing to a seat.
"The mimosas are great, I am thinking the chicken and Waffles myself." They say with a nod of certainty.
"Before we leap into Current news and events. How you been since Ostara?"

Agrippa was about halfway through reaching for a menu before Archie's question slammed them in the chest and left them frozen. It wasn't a distressing topic really, but it wasn't expected and they certainly didn't have an answer on the tip of their tongue. They blinked up, expression blanking until Riley came to the rescue.
"Oh, Thank you! I would say the same for you, but I wouldn't want to cause you eye-strain."
Having the moment to stall via genuine small talk brought them back down to earth, as if the Moth had unpressed a cosmic pause button on the unicorn's remote. An easy smile returned to their lips as they snatched the laminated page of consumable wonders off from the center of the table.
"Busy, but otherwise alright! Been enduring the blessed curse of a mundane week, cooped up in my apartment with a word processor and my writing playlist to keep me company. May you live in interesting times may be a curse, but that becomes easier to forget the longer those interesting times stray from me. You?"
Their eyes scanned across the listings in the menu, getting progressively wider as they noticed the extravagant items with equally extravagant prices. They were glad that Archie had already taken up the bill- they weren't sure they would have been able to afford much aside a glass of water otherwise.
"Have you chosen similarly?"
They glanced up to Archie first before Riley, making it clear that this last question was finally picking on the thread he had left dangling.
"Personally, I'm afraid I haven't gotten to know them all well enough to make an informed decision. Don't know who I'd want, know even less who would have me. If either of you would have suggestions or directions, I am all ears."
They went back down to the menu for half a second, expression already betraying an indulgent guilt for what they were about to ask
"You wouldn't judge me too harshly if I got fries and smores, would you?"

“If I made a habit of judging people I would be very bitter, and a much poorer person. Smores ahead my good man.”
Of course he wasn’t going to judge the walking fairy tale for having a Sweet Tooth. If anything Archie was sure that if Agrippa had a taste of spice and vinegar it would be more traumatizing. Salt licks though? A little on the nose but he had seen weirder, and that wasn’t even within the Lost community. Moral was Dish Soap was not a shot.
“Well, the worry is sooner or later it won’t be a matter of who will take you versus who you are put with. So this is a way of getting ahead of the curve before you get caught in the wave. We didn’t exactly walk away from this whole walker thing unscatched. Pretending things are going to be okay, just aren’t an option.”
He was more somber about this portion, 10 of them had died, and the community had struggled to keep things contained and orderly. Archie had done what he could with mortal infrastructure and it didn’t feel like he had done anything at all - as if he was nothing more than a chicken running around with his head cut off.
“Riles, any insight on our banners star players?”
There was an attempt in his tone to lighten the mood so they could just talk about politics. Talk about a twist, eh?

Riley took a sip of their Mimosa; the mention of the walker thing caused a visual twitch of the antenna as the moth flinched slightly. Those events had left their scars, both physical and mental, on the Darkling, and it was clear it wasn't their favorite thing to reminiscence on.
Archie redirected the conversation towards Riley and their opinion. The Darkling paused for a moment in consideration before speaking.
"Well, only considerin' the two that are taking on new blood. Both of em' are livin', proud traditions of Sin City."
Las Vegas was built by the Mob, and Chugunkin was the court's living example of that. Nimbus, on the other hand, was connected to the lifeblood of Vegas, entertainment.
"Chugunkin is organized, connected, and helps keep a tight ship. You've met him and know what he is like. Politically he is a political powerhouse among us. Comes with some advantage working for him, but the kind of work can be...unsavory, I imagine for some."
They glanced to Archie for a moment as if he might have thoughts on that before moving on to Nimbus.
"Neil is a bit of a dreamer. Connected to the Entertainment industry, he does a lot of community and social work. But from what I can tell isn't too ambitious; instead, he focuses his energy on those parts of his circle. "

The guilt melted away as the fairest gave Agrippa a pass on their tastes, leaving only a happy nod as they placed the menu down gently before them. They threw a look over their shoulder in search of a server while Archie elaborated on the nature of the draft. The closest one was several tables away. Agrippa gave up trying to flag her down with a look by the time Riley was halfway through their own spiel, which only further bleakened the situation by narrowing the options down to two. The unicorn turned back, expression a bit more despondent than before.
"Between the two, the latter appeals more to me than the former. I think."
They grimaced
"As you say, I've met Chugunkin. Charming man, but the business would take a toll on my soul that couldn't be rubbed clean by neither the money, nor power, nor protection he'd provide. Mr. cloud nine is at least an unknown to me. Closest I've had to direct conversation with the man was unintentional eavesdropping."
Their fingers played nervously at the laminated edges of the menu. After a moment of contemplation, they shrugged
"He sounds nice."
The wistful tone made it clear that the statement was less of an actual guess of Nimbus' character, and more of a hopeful prayer to the whims of fate.

"I would agree with that assessment." Riley said with a smile and a nod to Agrippa.
Chugunkin was not the Unicorn's speed by any means. So what role would Agrippa find themself in under the knighthood of Nimbus?
"Nice aside. His work seems more your pace. Have you put much thought into what you want your role within the community to be?"
It was a common question these days for the Moth. Then again, some folk didn't want a role; they wanted a place or a community, which was enough. But, Riley had begun to realize this last year, that was not enough anymore.

The unicorn bit their lower lip, frowning as they were once again ambushed by a question without a prepared answer- a part of them was starting to suspect that the seemingly casual nature of the meeting was a ruse, hiding a motive more purposeful than a want for drinks and conversation. They hadn't missed that neither Archie nor Riley had divulged either of their interests, after all. The urge to play coy rose, being dismissed by an outwardly unprovoked shake of their head- the cat was already out of the bag on their lack of direction, and Agrippa couldn't imagine what ill the pair could possibly do with their honest answers anyways.
"I would think something ambassadorial, if such a thing needs doing. Working with people charitably, in any case. From the sound of it, that wouldn't be out of Nimbus' purview by any means..."
Of course what actually needed doing and what they could convince the court needed doing wasn't necessarily equivalent, but they weren't going to put that foot forward even in trusted company, especially when there was still a chance they would land on something without needing to pull out those particular stops. A ghost of a smile crept back onto their lips, as optimism started to get the best of them. This arrangement wasn't sounding half-bad, for something the might be forced to do blind.
"Do you have any particular direction?"
Brows rose as they passed hopeful eyes from Riley to Archie, signaling that the question was plural.

“We have our own sway, yes, though we have been trying to play it close to the chest. I don’t want people to think we are on some sort of recruitment march. On my end I want to make sure that people that I am familiar with are prepared for what is on the horizon. Better to have an idea of where you are going with this sort of thing than being caught unprepared.”
He tipped his glass towards the Unicorn. This wasn’t a malicious meeting but rather a sort of wake up call if the Unicorn could read that, a chance for Agrippa to get ahead of the crowd and have some sort of say where they were going before the shit hit the fan.
“I would say follow your gut with this one, and just know how deep the water is when you jump in... but it looks like our meals are here, and we better eat while we can - Cirque will kill me if I don’t get Riley back on time!”
The meals arrived, the trio had a good time, and small talk filled the rest of the lunch.
