All we do is hide away
Talia is at the coffee shop on the corner next to her dance studio again. Danica is sitting in the corner watching from afar. Again. She feels suck in place, like she's frozen in time while the world moves around her. Is she stuck like this? Will she stay stuck like this?
Riley comes to her mind again. I need to do what I have to do for my sake, for my own happiness. Yes. I can do this.
For the first time, the Elemental sets down her book, moves out of the shadow blocking her face. For the first time, she dares to stand up while she is still sitting there. Talia's back is turned from her.
She pauses, nerves catching her. Maybe she can't do this. Maybe it is too much too soon. She swallows, trying to make her decision when that punch of inspiration jabs at her again. My happiness. This isn't just for her - this is for me.
All we do is chase the day
For the first time, fire takes off the beanie that hides her hair, the glasses that mostly cover her face. For the first time, she takes those final steps.
Step. Step. Step...
She can feel her heart beating so fast, she wonders if it can be heard. A slight tremble comes to her hands as she gets closer. And then it's too late to turn back.
Talia's eyes are a hazel green, just like mom's. She'd forgotten what they looked like. She'd forgotten what mom's looked like, for that matter. And now those hazel eyes are staring right at her. Recognition.
Fear. Fear in her eyes. Not Talia's, whose eyes are still soft for some reason. Fire's eyes show an absolute terror. "Nica?" Her heart suddenly plummets. Dani can't read her at all, but she isn't slamming a door in her face or running away.
All we do is lie and wait
Fire walks over slowly and sits down, her hands in her lap as she continues to just not know what to say. She can feel her heart pounding in her ears and yet there is the edge of a calm, but the calm like the one before a storm.
"..." Talia sits just as silently, waiting for Danica to say something. Anything.
"I..." If she says another syllable, she will begin to sob.
The brown haired, practically younger twin nods to her sister. She writes down something on a piece of paper and before anything could possibly be said, not that that was likely anyway, she just leaves. The note sits folded up in front of her and Danica just sits there, not sure what to do.
The Torrent stares at the piece of paper for about ten minutes before opening it up.
It's a date, a time, and a phone number.
She is in the middle of a coffee shop, but it doesn't matter; she folds over on herself and begins to sob with no care in the world to anyone around here.
All we do is feel the fade
