“SCA, that is something I have heard in a few circles - but you know what, maybe it's just actual history that has kept me away. No one wants to get Shylock’d right?”
He laughed it off, making a reference to the Merchant of Venice, but it was mostly in jest - he was simply not a hands on person.
“Wayland, Wayland, Wayland - You are saying things that hurt me. I can’t go a week without indulging in the night life here and there, the question is are you serious about getting out there? If so you are talking to the right man. The best shows, the best seats, the best hidden gems - I book them, and am always willing to treat people to night on the town.”
He reached into his jacket and pulled out his hard, passing it to the Ogre.
“When you decide you want to go out, give me a call. Just need to know how many and what kind of show you want and I will help you make that happen - all in the Spirit of Ostara, right? Lets chase those desires. Plus that is how it goes right? First hit is all it takes, because once you taste the pageantry of Vegas you aren’t going to be able to let it go.”
Excitement, eagerness, happiness - Entertainment was not Archie Hartman’s job, it was his passion. Ostara provided him with an excuse to let others indulge in it. I mean, it was just a coincidence if Wayland took him up on it Zumanity would probably be top of the list. Call it what you would, he was proud of that chip.
It was then he noticed and returned the wave to Kai Rose, offering a kind nod and a gesture to join them.
“Have you had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Rose? She’s one heck of a Rose if you get the pun.”
It was a funny pun. He wouldn’t stop using it anytime soon.

No idea what Archie means by that Shylock comment, Wayland just takes a small sip of her drink and lets the conversation move on. When he offers his card, she takes it, looking down at it for a moment before back up to him. "Thanks, that's a generous offer," she says, tucking the card away into her jacket, "I may just take you up on that."
Once again the pun or reference or whatever it is is lost on Wayland as Archie draws her attention to Kai. Is it something about how by any other name she'd smell as sweet? "I haven't, no," she answers him, looking from Kai back to Archie, "Want to introduce us?"

Kai offered the Ogre a hand to shake and a kindly smile. Her eyeline glanced to Lucas and Riley briefly, then she turned her head back to the pair and centered up on the two, her springtime dress breezing a little as she did. "Your Dad jokes are strong," she said with a quiet chuckle at the Chatelaine's introduction, warm eyes peering at the Ogre. "It's nice to meet you. Kai Rose." Colours flowed from violet to gold beneath her skin, an emotional shift right beneath the surface. "Has Archie been offering to show you the world? Shining, shimmering, splendid?"
She flashed the Fairest a wink. "I'm going to have to take you out one of these nights, you know."

“Oh the places we'll go? Just remember that at the end of the day I am a very fragile person and tap out after just flights of stairs. I honor the ingenuity that it took to develop both the elevator and escalator. And my promises have only been within my means to both supply and to guarantee a good time. Billy Idol and Katy Perry look like they are going to stick around - just saying.”
Residencies were simply the best, and gave the Fairest all sorts of chances to show people a night out and make them feel like a rockstar for far less than one may think the cost was. But often going to these types of shows was a dream come true.
“Well I would jump right in with introductions but it seems like Kai has beaten me to it, and it would be rude to step in now. Or have you two Spears been acquainted in the past?”

Wayland's hand feels just like the tarnished silver it looks like when she goes to shake Kai's, if silver could be as warm and pliable as flesh. She's got a decent handshake, looking Kai in the eye with confidence, but releases quickly. She watches the two talk for a moment, a small smile curling her lips, before Archie's inquiry gives her an opening to respond.
"No, not before tonight," she tells him, before turning her attention back to Kai, "I'm Wayland, around here. Or Ramona Bohannon, if we're out in public." Kai had given her a full name, presumably a legal name, so it seems only fair to offer one in return.
She glances back at the Fairest, "He was just saying how deeply disappointed he was that I've lived in Vegas for a couple of years and haven't explored the night life. Or at least not up to his standards."

Equal firmness came back. Kai's hand was calloused, like someone who did manual labor. "Good to meet you." She smiled back, glancing at Archie as he went down a self-deprecating track. She didn't pick anything up off him to suggest something was awry. Maybe it was just the producer's sense of humor. "I mean, to be fair, he's not wrong. Especially if Billy Idol is in town! I didn't even know that, so, goes to show how much I know about fun."
She smoothed the front of her dress and looked to Archie.
"So where do you go for fun, Archie? Like, when you're not impressing a client, what do you like to do for you?"

Oh my, what does he do? Well it was time to bore the masses.
”A tremendous amount of nothing if it is believable. When the rare opportunities present themselves it is best to appreciate the simplicity of sitting, maybe floating, and watching, maybe reading something. I am sure I have that in common with most peoples grandparents.”
A playful grin accompanied the statement. Archie lived a life of bars, restaurants, and parties. It was not uncommon he was around a different show 7 days a week to check in here and there on his roster.
”And truth be told, there is a certain satisfaction to having the autonomy of working on your own. If I didn’t like what I was doing, or it didn’t serve the race to the finish line it probably wouldn’t be worth chasing as hard as I do. ”
Sometimes one had to live the dream to chase it, thus was the cost pursuing immortality.
”So should I lock up some Billy tickets for the two of you?”
Who doesn’t like Billy Idol, right?

Race to the finish line? Every time Archie speaks, it's like he's got to say at least one thing Wayland doesn't understand. Not that she's not able to follow the conversation anyway. Indeed, she's feeling pretty at-ease here. The alcohol has helped quiet the nerves about meeting new people, and the company has been pleasant so far. Her eyes trail Kai's hands a moment as she smooths her dress, but then return to Archie, raising her glass when he mentions autonomy. "Cheers to that. Working for myself has been one of the better things that's ever happened to my life. Set my own schedule, pick my own projects. Not that there's not downsides: I hate ordering supplies. But if I slip up, I'll run out of something right when I need it, and my creative process takes a body-blow. Still, I'd rather be cleaning up my own fuck-ups than dealing with bosses any day."
The offer of tickets makes her pause for a moment. Then she licks her lips, and shrugs, "Sure, what the hell; I'm in." She glances at Kai, "What do you say? Concerts are always better when you're going with a friend." She noticed Kai's red bracelet of course, and hopes this offer doesn't come off the wrong way. One of the reasons she hasn't been going to many shows so far is the lack of people to go with.

Kai nodded to the invitation, but said, "Archie... you don't need to always buy. Your worth to us doesn't have anything to do with your wallet, brother." She smiled at him.
The number of hours of smashing rocks Kai Rose had to do to pull together tickets to Billy Idol was not inconsequential, but she had a bit of spare cash. She'd been frugal of late, and there was a point to be made here. Archie was generous, but it was the kind of generous that made the empath wonder if he worried people wouldn't like him if he wasn't always the one buying. It was Chatelaine stuff, or people stuff, but whatever it was, Kai knew the only way it was going to change was if he saw it was possible to have a friend with whom he had an equal financial relationship.
He did not have to be the rich kid in high school who had to buy friends. He could just be the rich kid who earned them.
"You bought for the spa. We're sitting in the bleeds, but I'm buying -- and you're coming. Call it my Easter wish."

“You are better off saving your easter wishes for something grander, but if you insist I think a compromise can be made, I’ll cover Billy and you can cover Barry or Cher - I have a soft spot for Copacabana and a Life After Love. I’ll send you the name of my ticket guy, he’ll cut you an even deal, he’s good for not gouging tourists and hooking up industry favors.”
Networks were power, weren’t they?
“Two shows are always better than one.”
If nothing he was doing the duty of acquainting two Rubies in the rough with one another. It was better than whatever story he could tell about himself, likely more consequential than his not-even-a-sob-story.
“Speaking of, do either of you have an idea of what hopes and dreams you will be planting for the coming year? We can only reap what we sow, afterall.”

Alright! Two shows. And Wayland is... invited? Definitely half-sure she's invited. At least to the first one. Kai and Archie sort of took over planning and such, and apparently now Kai is buying the tickets, but Archie's initial Idol offer definitely included her. A thought occurs to her, and her lips thin for a moment as she considers how to phrase it, before she shrugs and speaks the thought; "Well now I feel left out. I'll have to take you both out to something myself. I'll have to take some time and figure out what the options are." Not exactly a topic she's excited about researching, but there; three shows! One of which she is definitely going to! (Unless they turn her down.) The mention of planting makes Wayland's brows sharpen in thought. "You mean the seed?" She asks, head tilting slightly before righting. "Riley mentioned something about that. Something of us, right? A metaphor?" As she speaks, she dips her hand into one of her trouser pockets, and produces a slim metallic rectangle, an ingot. "This is mine. Pattern-forged steel." She turns the ingot slightly so that the light glints off the rippling waves of different steel gradients that have been folded and hammered and welded together. "I figure... I could turn this into just about anything. It's pure potential. That's like a seed, to me."

Kai grinned at Archie, glancing at Wayland to see if the reserved Ogre caught the subtext. It didn't seem like it, but she dove in anyway, helping out by making a two-way reciprocation a group thing. That was fine. It probably made it more comfortable for the Chatelaine, who didn't seem like the type to let anyone treat him to anything.
"Three shows it is, for all three of us. Let's do it."
She'd buy him beer when he wasn't looking. Sometimes, people did that.
"A seed for the unknown, to grow into something known and beautiful." She held up a little baggie with a seed in it. "There are things I want to learn about myself this year. Maybe with Spring's blessings, I'll be able to."

”The joys of Spring, no? The want to grow is a kernal present in everyone but the most listless. Sometimes they just don’t know in what ways, and in that regards there is something everyone can take from the season. That being said, the goal was to plant actual seeds so I will have to talk to Riley about what kind of old spell books they have been hitting because I think they may be digging too deep with the metaphors. Should watch myself next time I say I wanting something to burn down and find them wanted for Arson.”
A friendly chuckle, Riley’s expense, he was sure they could afford it - they had a much nicer and cushy job now.
”With that though, if you’ll pardon me - my need to mingle is kicking in. I’ll do what I can to swing back around if this party is still swinging when I’m done though.”
With that, Archie would see himself off

Catching subtext is not exactly Wayland's greatest talent, but when Kai confirms that there will be three shows, and all three of them will be attending each, it's reassuring. She read things right, and there's a solid plan for both some entertainment and getting to know some folks better. She drains the last of her Moscow Mule while mentally giving herself a pat on the back.
Only to immediately feel like she's caught her foot in her mouth when Archie mentions that the planting of seeds was meant to be very much literal. Her lips form a thin line, like she's tasted something sour, and she licks them as she reaches out to set her empty drink glass on a nearby table. "Well," she says aside to Kai, returning the ingot to her pocket, "... Now I feel like an idiot."

Archie reappeared as if he had never been gone. He was expedient when it came to accomplishing matters like these. “It’s like I was never gone, eh?”He chuckled, returning not on his own but with someone else. “Now, well I am aware of the acquaintance between Kai and Ivory - may I introduce you, Wayland, to the Antler Crown’s very own Pale Dragon, and resident Space Princess of the evening as you noted. She is certainly every definition of ``don't judge a book by its cover`` - and I am sure you two are going to get along like peas in a pod.”He stepped aside and nodded his head to give Ivory the stage to now, to knock the pins down now that they had been set up so to speak.
