Lucas grew quiet while he considered Riley's question. The two of them had discussed some of the darkling's dating preferences before and he had told them he wasn't bothered by any of it. However, he did not go into full detail as to why it didn't bother him. Normally, he tried to not think about it too much but the alcohol mixed with the potency of the glamour he had been feeling had brought down some of his walls.
"I like the idea of a night with just you. A lot." He said in earnest.
"As for my take on sex and these kind of situations..."He shrugged his shoulders. He was sober enough to know that mentioning he wasn't terribly attached to the idea of being alive and he was often open to at least trying new things to see if they brought him any kind of joy was going to be an instant mood killer. However, he did want to be open and honest on some level about his general take on relationships, sex, and life.
"Actually, before I get into all of that, why don't we go outside and go for a walk? Get some fresh air and talk where we can actually hear each other and not have to yell so much. I can close out my tab."

“Sure” Riley said with a nod, grabbing their jacket from the back of their seat.
“I’ll meet you at the door” The Darkling said before making their way through the dispersing crowd.
Closing time was the worst for the Moth. Ending the party before it even started, with all the energy in the world. The cooler air of the outdoors only highlighted the building warmth provided by the alcohol. Their fingers tingled as they fished into the jacket and produced a pack of cigarettes.
“Can I bum a light?” Riley asked a group of Rock’a billies. Once lit, the darkling moved to standing next to a parking sign to await the arrival of Lucas.
Riley eyed the contact number scribbled on their hand. Lucas wasn't interested in the tempting offer. Instead he had preferred a night with the darkling. That brought on some mixed feelings. On one hand they were touched, he was beyond handsome he could get anyone there if he wanted, hell they offered. Yet he chose Riley, it gave them a sense of pride.
The other hand there of course was the surface feeling of ‘fear of missing out’, the night was young why not have fun. In truth the Moth was still envious, and had not been given the chance to out shine them. He just handed it to them.
Their Atennea flicked in cold annoyance at the internal thoughts, taking a long drag from the cigarette before letting the smoke escape their lips.

Lucas left a generous tip when he closed out his tab. While his pockets were far from being deep, he seldom went out and splurged on social outings. So when he did decide to actually go out in the world, he had extra wiggle to spend more. The bar tender looked pleasantly surprised when he saw the tip amount and went to thank Lucas, but Lucas had already taken his leave.
He shoved his hands inside of his pockets, trying to sort out his thoughts while he walked towards the parking lot. Fortunately for him, he had not drank enough to slide into a depressive mood. He had learned his limits along time ago and how to hit the happy spot. He was a touch inebriated beyond buzzed, which lead to having a pleasant, floating feeling that acted as a helpful buffer against his thoughts plummeting into negativity.
"I think one of my favorite things about living in Vegas is that no matter what time of year it is, I can walk outside and stay warm. When I lived in Detroit and Toronto, I always had to start my car early or bundle up." He partially rambled in a melodious sounding voice.
Lucas offered Riley his arm. Regardless if the darkling took his arm or not, he would gesture for them to start walking with him. The path they took was away from the bright lights and large crowds that were loitering outside of the bars so they could have more privacy while they talked.
"To answer your question...I honestly think way too many Changelings are hung up human values. For most humans, the goal is to find a monogamous marriage, have kids, build a functional relationship so you can effectively run a house hold together, retire, and live your golden years in some sunny town in Florida. You and I and everyone else...we're not going to have that kind of happy ending. We might be safe from the True Fae here in Vegas, but we're not safe from ourselves."
When he realized how cryptic that likely came off, he waved dismissively with one of his arms.
"Here's the thing, you and I share a bond that no human is ever going to be able to share, right? We got taken somewhere that the human brain can't comprehend and wasn't built to comprehend. There's a bond between us, all of us really, that runs deep. Casual sex can't really compete with that kind of bond. I don't need someone to be my everything, our lives don't allow for that kind of thing anymore." He looked up towards the sky while he spoke, taking in all of the stars that started to shine now that they were moving away from the light pollution from the strip.
"TL;DR casual sex or having a friend with benefits or whatever aren't things to be ashamed of and can be fun. I don't need you to change to make things work. If you accept me for my quirks, I'll accept you for yours. All I ask is that when we are together, you're present with me. And if we can get all that down, then we can enjoy the time we have together and explore whatever fun and adventurous experiences Sin City throws our way."

Riley accepted the offered arm and walked alongside the Fairest down the street. Navigating through the crowds that moved from the bar in and off the strip.
"I can't imagine that kind of cold honestly. Texas, California, here. Warm nights all my life...well most of it"
They smile a bit, never thought that was something to be lucky about. They watched Lucas as he began to describe his thoughts on the aforementioned question. His thoughts were bleak but understandable. They weren't human, they couldn't be after all that.
"Maybe, I know enough people those goals don't fit for. But that's beside your point ain't it"
They glance upwards towards the neon lights, street lamps. They squinted, why was this city so damn bright.
"But do we? Do we share that kind of bond?" Riley looked over to Lucas. "We share empathy maybe. A brief concept of understanding. But how can we know each other when we are still trying to make sense our self of what happened?"
The moth paused not sure where they were going with the line of thought. It was there but they couldn't follow the thread. So they let it drop. "I don't think casual sex is intended to compete with that bond. It doesn't even have to be a bond. " Riley chuckles slightly.
"Sex is only as important as what you bring to it. It's just important those involved make those meanings- expectations clear beforehand. Cant be casual let alone good, otherwise"
They paused pulling him to a stop for a moment as they spoke on the corner of a crosswalk.
"But that like any transaction I reckon. I am not lookin' for you to be somethin' your not" They smirk reaching up and brushing a bit of his hair aside, taking a moment to take him in.
" If you want me to be present ya just had to ask" They reach into their bag grabbing a small wet wipe and smeared it across the hand, the numbers fading away with it.
"A few woo girls wouldn't compare to ya any ways" they wink with playful smile.

Lucas came to a halt when they tugged on him at the cross walk. He listened to them, contemplating their words and his own thoughts on the matter.
"I think we do. Maybe we don't fully understand what happened to us, but that doesn't stop us from being altered. We were all touched by the Fae, have a connection through the Wyrd, and make promises to protect a place we want to call home." He shrugged his shoulders. Maybe it was just empathy in the end or fear driving all of these behaviors. Whatever the truth actually was, he was confident that some new red ribbons had attached to all of them during their time in Arcadia.
He grew quiet again as he listened to the rest of what the darkling had to say. His eyes followed their hand intently as they reached into their purse and then the contact information of the woo girls disappeared all together.
"I'm not the type who wants to go out all the time. I prefer my solitude more often than not for a lot of different reasons. Some good, some maybe I need to change in time. I'm not there yet. I like being alone."
After they are done cleaning off their hand, Lucus turned around so he was facing Riley rather than being beside them. He switched up his arm so that he was holding their hand in his. Unlike earlier when they shook his hand free from theirs, his grip on their hand was a confident one. If they didn't pull back, his other moved to cup their cheek with it.
"But tonight, I don't want to be alone. " The eye contact Riley asked for earlier was there as the fairest's eyes unflinchingly deadlocked with the darkest's eyes.

" I get that. There is solace in being alone. All of this" Riley gestured to the city streets looking about the burning bright lights of Las Vegas. They thought for a moment to explain it to him, to explain the push and pull of this life. Riley for a brief moment to tell him why they did all this when all they wanted was to be alone at home. Maybe he would understand.
"It's just fun. It's not important." maybe another time.
"I am okay with you wanting to be alone," Riley says with a soft smile. The moth doesn't pull away at his touch. Their black eyes were locked on his face, letting the distraction of the city bleed into bokeh of light. The Bright one pressed their cheek against his cold hand.
" How does that song go? Two is the loneliest number?" The bewitched have him a smile, the kind someone had when they were about to get into trouble. Riley gripped the front of his shirt and pulled him close with a tug, and planted a a kiss upon his lips, giving his lower lip a light tug before they pulled away.
"What do you say we get out of here?"

Lucas once had a lover tell him that he kissed like someone learning a new language; there was no past or future, only the present. Usually, when he kissed someone with that kind of intensity, it was because he was trying to use the kiss as an anchor to the present. Something that helped him block out his past trauma and the thoughts of doom and gloom he had about the future. The kiss he shared with Riley was different. The darkling had given him so much tonight, even if they were not aware of it. He wanted to thank Riley for accepting him for who he was, but their lips were already locked and he wasn't sure if he could even find the right words to begin with.
Instead, he focused on his channeling his gratitude through their kiss and the way his hands held them. Lucas wanted them to know that this wasn't some kind of fantasy fulfillment for him like with their handsy customers or a cruel game like the True Fae liked to play for their own entertainment What he felt in this moment was real and his desire was all for Riley. The only lips he wanted to feel on his lips were Riley's. The only body his hands wanted to explore and adore was Riley's. The only company he wanted tonight was Riley's and Riley's alone.
When the kiss ended, he stepped back and ran his tongue over his lower lip.
"You don't have to ask me twice."
