On Representing Wyrd:
In Dark Harvest, a Changeling’s connection to the Wyrd is as described: an individual’s power pertaining to the Fae side of their nature. As a physical marker, the Wyrd stat provides shifts on a character’s Mien. There are different interpretations on what this may look like, depending on a Storyteller, and so we ask players to refer to this quick guide on how they may imagine and design their character if they choose to further devote themselves to their magical reflection.
Wyrd 1-3
The Lost clearly has something strange about them that sets them apart from their mundane counterparts. It may be an unnatural texture or tone to their flesh, or ethereal eyes that shows the window to their altered soul. No matter how little one is connected to Arcadia, they are never truly untouched.
Wyrd 3-5
The Lost radiates power, and is obviously inhumane. Physical markers go beyond quirks, and now bend reality in a dreamlike manner, temporarily twisting the environment before Reality corrects itself. A Brightone’s light may force another to squint, a Nightsinger’s song colouring the world in deeper shadows. No longer is a Fairest simply striking to gaze upon, but evokes an ethereal unease that this goes beyond simple concepts of appearance.
Wyrd 5-7
The Lost is fully realized in the marks of their Durance. The Mask is the only thing keeping them contained, as Arcadia dances in the wake of their Aura, demanding they remember their dreams. A Lost no longer differentiates worlds between awake and asleep, simply seeing two simultaneous stories in the same novel. They find themselves Othered in their community as they cling to perspective, and convince themselves daily that their existence isn’t a folktale.
Wyrd 7-9
Clarity is a treasure, and anchors matter more than ever. Life is riddled in symbology, and the Lost is no longer recognized as a being that can be described as human. Many cannot remember their Mask as it cracks and bends to accommodate their idea of Self, and wearing a mundane shield is a painful lie. A body is simply a representation. I think therefore I am.
Wyrd 10
No Lost is known to walk Reality as such a complete avatar of Arcadia’s chaos, the Hedge exploding around them in a manner of minutes as they try to manifest.
