Casual. Casual. CasualWhat the ever living fuck was casual?!The Bright one had spent over an hour looking through their collection of thrift store clothes trying to find the right “Casual”. This was trying too hard, that wasn't trying hard enough. Maybe a messy bun, or hair down. Nothing was right, nothing worked. In truth Riley was delaying. Their gut had twisted into knots thinking about where this night would go. Ivory had laid it bare that Riley was afraid, and the Moth couldn't stomach that truth much longer. They had to do something, but that exposed them to a far worse danger. Rejection or worse, disdain. Luckily for the moth they were riding a high of congratulations and warm texts from those they had told about their success. Claire was blowing up their phone every free second with a new gif, emoji or Marco Polo filled with glee. When she started to like Riley’s slow response time the questions moved from the show to “Who is it” Claire was scary perceptive sometimes. Trying their best to ignore their sister. Riley picked up a bottle of wine, slapped it in a bag then stopped and looked at the expensive bottle of whiskey. Squinted at it in thought, before snatching it too. It helped to be thorough. Picking up their phone they sent Fire a text. Hey, OMW, be there soon.  Then with the message sent they flipped over to their contact, Flexing arm, car, horse.Riley spent the taxi drive blasting some Joan jett, a little musical courage. Half hour after leaving their flat the moth showed up at the door of Firebringer. Wearing a light long sleeved shirt, short denim shorts with low hanging pockets, and simple black street shoes. Under one arm was a satchel bag with a bottle of fine whiskey and red wine. It was as casual as the moth could muster. At long last they knocked on the door.

Danica has been pacing around her apartment for a hot minute. Ah. Ahhh. They're coming over. No. Stop. It's fine. Just... oh god, does my hair look like a rat's nest?She runs over to the bathroom and grimaces as she confirms her fears. It looks like a hot mess. She spends time doing her best to make it look... okay. She gets the fried hair into a decently nice looking, messy bun. Wisps of her bangs hang out, framing her face. The elemental is dressed in a fitted tee-shirt and eevee themed PJ bottoms. When Riley knocks, she assumes, on her door, she jumps a little bit and walks over to open up. "Uh, hey!" She greets them and steps aside to let them in. Dani's apartment is rather small, but not too bad. It's a one bedroom apartment. The from door opens to the living room which includes an open kitchen in the corner. She's got a couch dividing the kitchen and living room, her TV upon a stand against the far wall (which isn't all that far). Along the wall, she has a few bookshelves filled with several manga series, anime movies and shows, and a variety of other movies and books she'd collected over the few years she's been out. There is a door leading to the bathroom through the kitchen and another door in the back corner that leads to her bedroom. "Welcome to my wee apartment! You look nice," Fire gives them a look over, "I can grab some glasses. I'm excited about whatever exciting things you've got to share. That was an awkward sentence. Heh." She's already walking over to the kitchen to grab a couple of glasses. "Wine glass or a random cup with a cool design? I've got Hogwarts glasses, some pokemons, random Trek and Star Warsy stuff." |

As the door opened, Riley flashed a smile taking a once over of the elemental before them. Seeing the display of litteral PJ's which Riley had taken mostly to be a joke, caused their heart to flutter. "Hey!"I should of worn pj's, or robe maybe a slip. Nope that would be nope.
Halp"I feel a bit overdressed" They gave a nervous laugh. Riley flashed a smile before they brushed their hair back as if to push the idea of how they dressed wrong for the evening out of their head. "Uh. So this is it huh?"The Brighton stepped in behind Dani and looked around. Their eyes scanned over the room with a smile taking it all in. Soon Riley realized they had not taken into account how nerdy Firebringer really was. The brief amount of Anime homework they had done last couple of weeks, which previously felt like an achievement, now felt rather unimpressive. "Wow, cute place. I uh brought wine, or whiskey" Riley choose not to mention that it was a 3,000 dollar bottle of whiskey provided by Archie. For fear that would make it untouchable this evening. Riley had conveniently forgotten that was a Bartender and might recognize the highland malt. "Humm Well... Surprise me. Pick a glass you think I'd like?" |

Fire laughs a little, "Hey, if you're feeling overdressed, I could always lend you a pair of PJ bottoms. I am not in short supply." "But yes, this is the Fire Swamp." She giggles at her own reference, "It's uh, actually perfectly clean compared to my last place."She made a 'hmm' sound as she thought, trying to decide what cup to take out for them, "Ah. You can have my favorite pokemon." And she pulls out a tumble with a printed image of this precious nugget of a pokemon. "Sylveon is the best pokemon, and people can fight me who say otherwise," Another laugh as she then moves to take out another cup. Today, she decided she needed the cup with Data holding his cat on it, because why not? "Whisky for definites. Lemme see what you got?" She reaches out her hand to Riley and she is wearing a very charming smile. |

Riley looked over at Fire and flashed a suggestive smile. "I'll take you up on that offer later" Whoa slow down cowboy.
They coughed as they got ahead of themselves. The Moth flustered placed the bottles on the kitchen counter. "Fireswamp huh? Any ROUS i should be watching out for?" HA yes got one.
The moth gave a somewhat proud smile at being able to keep up with the reference game that Fire was bringing. Taking the offered cup in hand Riley eyed the pokemon on. There were so many pokemon since they they last had been aware of them.
"This is the most Trans pokemon ever" They say with a laugh looking at the colors of it. "When did pokemon become queer?"
They fished into their satchel and pulled out the bottle of whiskey and placed it in Firebringers hand. "A gift from Archie, for the good news. i am sure he wont mind"

That suggestive smile and comment makes Fire's cheeks glow a little bit and she laughs nervously, "Uh...huh"
"I have been quite vigil in my quest to keep the ROUS at bay. But worry not, fair maiden, I got you." Being that normal weird that she is put her a little more at ease, her laughs a little more joyful.
"Yes, and it is my absolute favorite. It is precious. A true gay Icon, like The Babadook." And then she paused at the mention of the whisky brought, "Ohh, it's one of Archie's good ones? Oh, we're definitely having them in the tumblers. If we tell him, he'll be pissed and I will live for that moment." She giggles in an almost evil fashion.
"Mm... I do not have the proper ice for whisky, so we are gonna have to do this with care..." She does serious magic with the way she pours, because while she wants to put a middle finger to Archie via the cup, she doesn't want to ruin the actual alcohol. Once she is done, she brings the Sylveon glass over to Riley, "Here you go!"
She then walks over to her living room, which is only a couple of feet away, "Sooo, what's the big news?"

At Dani's reaction, Riley wanted to kick themself in the shin. They knew better than that, now wasn't the time. Not tonight.
"well I approve of this little gay icon." they chuckle before finding a seat.
From their seated position Riley watched the elemental moved about the apartment kitchen preparing the drinks. A soft smile crossed their face as they watched Dani in their element.
"Yeah, he would be livid...which might be worth it, to be honest. " To be honest Riley was certain Archie would make a show of it, but actually be pleased. Maybe.
"Hey uh thanks" The bright one said taking the glass with a smile . They took a moment to smell the drink before to Dani.
"Well uh, That audition i went to. That I couldn't talk much about?"
The Bright one smiled, one the warmest smiles they had mustered in months.
"I got the role. I'm in the Zumanity troupe"
The moths voice almost cracks when they say it. They hadn't said it out loud before. They made a gulp as the realization hit them again.

When Riley gives the news, Fire gives a little squeek. "Oh my god! I'm so happy for you! Thanks so exciting!"
The little ball of fire knew how to be excited, her crackled skin that is visible, glowing.
"I'm definitely going to come watch you perform. Like, hey, that super amazing person over there? Yeah, we hang." She laughs a little bit, "How are you feeling about it? You look nervous, which I don't blame you for." She couldn't even imagine that kind of attention. Oh, wait... shit, I am going to have that kind of attention at some point. Well, charity event won't be like what they'll have. Thank god. I mean, for me, not for them. That's hella awesome for Riley.
"Hugs?" She holds open her arms for a hug if Riley wants one. "Oh, and we should take a selfie to send to Archie of our drinks. That would be perfection."

Riley lit up at the excitement from the fire elemental. Something about it was entrancing to the Bright one, and took them for a moment to refocus.
"Uh.Thanks! I cant believe it happened. You'll have tickets anytime. Promise'' They smile and take a a sip of the whiskey, letting it warm them.
"I am...feelin' a lot. Nervous...excited. I never been in a troupe before. It will be new...and the stage size It-"
They wanted to tell Fire about how hard it had been. How everyone hated them there, what they thought of Riley. How it was going to be a long road. But not tonight.
"It'll take time"
At the offer of the hug gave Riley pause. Ivory's advice combated their gut feelings about the gesture. They couldn't be wrong, would that be worse than being right?
It's just a hug, don't make this weird.
"Sure" Riley smiled had dimmed slightly. Taking the offered hug. They made sure to keep it short, and brief. A hug between friends. Don't muddy this.
" Speaking of Archie , he's setting up a party. You should get an invite soon" Their eyes shot across the room as the hug ended spoke aloud about Archie more to the room than Fire.
Right invitations from Archie.
They placed their glass down for a moment. "Look...can I talk to you about the Foundation Room?" Their tone shifted.

"I imagine it'll take up until you're performing. It's what Talia always said. You'll be wonderful, I just know it." Still. That giant stage. Oof.
Riley accepted her hug, which was nice, but god was it a short hug. Even her friends she tended to hug them for inappropriately long times, just because that's the person she was. Is it because...? Imbolc always seemed to be following her. Wasn't that supposed to be the evening to forget about? Then again, she didn't drink or take drugs enough to forget, did she?
"Yeah, he told me the other day." And told me I needed to ask you out. Which... maybe? But I don't think you're interested. She let's out a slow breath.
And then Riley mentions the Foundation room. Fire cocks her head to the side a little bit, "Uh, yeah, sure. What's up?" She takes a quick sip of her drink then.
It gave her a sense of anxiety. Were they about to make sure she knew that there wasn't anything here? That they need to be friends? If that's it, that makes this really awkward. But then, she can deal with that. It'll be fine. It'll hurt, but it'll be fine. ...does that mean she needs to be more reserved with her words too? She hoped not. She liked this strange both flirty and not dynamic they have. Not as much as the before, but...

Riley raised an eyebrow slightly when Archie had already spoken to Firebringer. A spike of anxiety struck their chest as they realized Archie could have easily made this far more complicated than it already was. Goddamn, Archie sticking your nose in this.

Why did this have to be hard? Why did she want him?
The Darkling felt a wave of flightiness. Maybe laugh it off, say never mind? Text Linden for an escape? The temptation to ignore the problem was a strong one, why did they deserve to suffer this discomfort?
All they wanted right now was to share a glass of stupidly expensive whiskey. Let the lavishing of praise drip like honey into their ears. The bright one wanted to bask in the momentary joy of their victory, with a friend.
A Friend.
They didn't desire a friend, but they knew they didn't deserve even that. What was more true to spring? To pursue what you desire no matter the cost? Or to sacrifice for the desire of others?
" I've been an asshole " Riley spoke looking down at the glass in their hand.
"I know I been sending you a lot of mixed signals"
Don't tell her how you feel first, that's manipulative, apologize first.
"After Imbolc and then I just...switched after Foundation Room. Dani, you deserve the truth”
They took a sip of their whiskey

Fire's eyebrows scrunch a little in confusion at first, but then she began preparing for the worst. They're talking about the mixed signals. They're about to tell the truth. Just friends. That's fine. It's fine. I'd already resigned it to that.
But then Riley kept going. Truth?
Danica moved to lean against the side of her couch, trying to get a read on Riley. But things were moving too quickly.
"Truth?" Even her voice came out confused. But there was a knot forming in her stomach. "What's going on? Is everything okay?"
What if they don't even want to be friends? What if this needing to be face to face was to say that? Oh, god. I wish that could've just been over a phone so I could cry about it in peace.

The moth stood up, the stillness in their body felt like a prison. They needed to move. Riley placed their glass down on the kitchen counter with a nod.
“Yeah, Truth look. Fi-Dani I fucked up. On the Balcony, when we were talking and our hands touched”
Riley's heart skipped at the physical memory of it, before the truth they learned landed on them like a sack of hammers. Weighing their mind down.
The Moth had transgressed. They had abused their powers, to seek what they wanted. Used the wyrd to fill their desires. So it punished them. Swatted them down for their pride.
“I used glamor. I...saw your desires without your permission. I Dunno why I-”
You did it cause you were afraid. You did it to sate your ego. Why risk failure, rejection? A simple glimpse and you could know to cut if you should cut your losses or if you had her. You were afraid to use your words, so you cheated. Any thing but failure.
The moth opened their mouth as if to try and explain why and stopped. Their hands quivered at their side, their fingers pale from the tight fist they had gripped into. The pounding of the blood in their ears made their head ring like a drum. This was the worst idea yet.
“There’s no excuse. I saw...who you desire and I tried to give you space” Tried and failed. Why couldn't I just let her have him. Why couldn't you give her even that level of respect.
Riley pulled their gaze from the wall to Fire.

Danica blinked. They. They used...? Her eyes widened and suddenly she felt weird. She felt... She felt...
"Y-you used glamour on me?" the way it comes out of her sounds almost pained, "To see if I-?"
She lets out a slow breath, trying to figure out what to say, what to do. What the hell is going on?
"Who I desire? What the hell does that even mean?" Spring magicks, right? She sets down her drink and tries to wrap her mind around this.
"I don't understand." She breathes out, "W-why would you...?" She shakes her head. She felt violated. Her mind probed for information so easily obtained it actually hurt. Why didn't they just ask? Don't they know? Don't they know that I want them more than I've wanted anyone since...? Why?
But wait, who she desires? Why would they want to give them space once they knew she wanted them? And she doesn't realize it then, but she has blinked out a tear, sizzling slightly upon her warming skin as her emotions begin to overcome her. She'd been so worked up about all of this and this is not what she expected.
"Why would you leave me alone if you knew I wanted you? Was it too much? Do I care too much? Am I too much?" It all comes pouring out of her and she just doesn't understand why. It hurts. "Why didn't you just tell me you didn't want me instead of giving me space? I don't get it."

The darkling knew this would hurt, but they hadn't expected it to be like this. Hearing the pain in Fire's voice was worse than what Riley had imagined. Tear it off. "I did, I used magic. I was scared you'd- There's no excuse for it"The Moth froze, shocked by Firebringers' admittance of desire for Riley. It was as they had feared. The Fire didn't even know what Riley had seen, it had been hidden so deep. The Bright one didn't have time to process it as Dani's accusations began to flow. Riley? No Rowan. It had to be. They saw.
