Mitch zoned out for a moment, collecting his prior experience with the Courts and what this was really about. "All right, so someone is going to be negotiating a mass exodus of tenants into other city blocks, while stopping landlords from raising rental fees once they catch wind of the market demand."
He blinked. "That's..."
Unrealistic.
"A super noble endeavor I'm sure we can pull off if we work together," he smiled again. "So you're needing me to talk with some of these tenants...we'll need new contracts for them to transition to, and for them to not feel like it's weird? I'm not sure how that works, but I'm guessing you have someone in real estate on your team, and a lawyer."
Oh God, he was getting flashbacks to his teens when he had to do missionary work. The thought caused him to quietly snicker, before he composed himself with a delicate cough. "So who's going to be the ground team making this transition fast and painless, and who's going to be taking care of the legality and logistics to put pressure on landlord negotiations?"
He tilted his head at Ruby with a quizzical eye, but not an ounce of suspicion with her intent, even after the blatant lying was obvious enough at this point.
"Are you Avowed to someone or...?

She was put on the spot. You call that improvising? Just wait until you see this. An Arcadian drama. Friends separated through space and time, caught in the brambles of a horrific countryside. Dreams of a face you can't quite remember, and it hurts. A phantom on the wind calling your name. The Sun doesn't quite feel the same.
There is a flash of remembrance. A sudden need to grip the stem of the glass. Sight beyond sight at the cost of...
"Yes. I have been kept in good company, for what it's worth. You all have such a way of making it seem like a dream rather than a nightmare. There's work do be done, and, I want to do my part as best I can. And it's not every day you get to meet your heroes."

The Twilight Dancer gave a sideways look towards Ruby at her answer. She was hard to track, and certainly, a bit of a wildcard, was she truly the man from the meeting before? Avowed. Riley didn't have the time to bite into that now.
Riley's attention moved back to Mitch.
"The team is being formed, and roles have yet to be assigned"
Mitch made a good point though all of that would be needed, and from Riley could tell no one on this team had those particular skills. It didn't make sense. Why pick them?
"Ivory, could handle findin' us lawyers, I reckon. Or even Archie here. Ivory might even be good for dealing with the landlords? I was plannin' to take a look around the ground, see what the community we are dealin' with is like. "
Riley looked over towards Archie. "Perhaps we should setup a meetin' get everyone tasks?"

“Abigail is our hard nosed negotiator, yes, and has enough background in property from what little birds have said. I know my ways around some of the ins and outs of the market as well, but I am by no means an expert. Help though? Just another cheque, we can put it on Amex, I get points. Meanwhile your obvious cool head and friendliest of smiles seem ideal for helping us comfort people as we explain the situation.”
A soft sigh. Riley was doing their best, this Ruby was there that was fun, and here was Mitch - being tugged along willy nilly.
“Lets not lie to ourselves, there is more skin in the game than has been let on. This is step one, planning things on the ground. So - what do you say Mitch? Meeting in a more appropriate venue? I’ll get catering done.”
Who didn’t love free food. It was like bait for most Lost.

Mitch tucks his hair, listening to Ruby as he mused on something, "Um, sure I mean, if you're wanting to help." The situation didn't seem like fairy politics, anyway. He seemed a little worried, but had nothing to actually point to as a problem.
"I'm going to head there tomorrow morning," he said to Riley. "It really is just hitting the weekend market and lunch spots, and chatting with some people." He made it sound so easy; without an ounce of understanding that normally just walking up to someone doesn't guarantee information or friendliness. "It'll probably take all day, then if something's weird or alarming, you have have someone poke around with magic in the shadows."
He nods to Archie, "Setting up a business meeting while we're working the block is a great idea."
Sidestep, swap partners, and spin away.
The smile had just a touch of being forced, providing his contact information as he fled through the crush of dancers with a supernatural grace that would have made a Darkling jealous.
