Everything had gone off without a hitch. Venue was the biggest the kid had ever had - headlining, full set, a decent enough opener, and everyone had laughed their asses off. What more could an up and coming comedian ask for when they got the chance to step up to the next level. Archie had already been putting texts out about getting an album done for the kid, no more youtube or instagram bits anymore - real bank for that hard work.
Archie had snuck backstage to meet his client as he came back from his set, program from the event in hand, and was amped as he caught sight of his client
“You killed it my man! Drop that mic! We got this.”
Archie opened his arms to give him a hug, and quickly he passed with a pat on the side.
“Thanks man - we’ll catch up later!”
And with that he was gone, slipping to the greenroom where some of his friends and family were, with a cheer immediately erupting.
“I did it Fam!”
The Fairest heard it echoing into the hall before the screeches, cheers and applause. Archie looked almost confused.
‘I did it…’
There was no ‘I’ without Archie. Deep calming breath as he crumpled the pamphlet up in his hand and moved through the narrow hallway, passing the room of celebration to reach the rear exit for talent. He saw the trash can by the door and made the motion to toss the program away. When he made the motion his fingers just seemed to be unable to release, and toss the program away…
Sighing he stood for a moment and began to uncrumple the paper, trying his best to futilely smooth it out though it would do little good...He knew a Wizend that could help with it if it came to that.
‘We...It was we, there is no I without me’
He was a kid still, he would learn how lucky he was to have Archie steering the ship. Talent was like a cannonball, just a burden until someone aimed it the right way. They just never seemed to realize it.
Program in hand, Archie left the building, pulling out his phone and hitting the GPS direction for the Fortress of Solitude.
