Down Town Cocktail bar, the DCR was a very nice place. It was classy with the right amount of privacy and intimacy. There was enough noise to keep conversation private, but it was lively enough to be less obvious than meeting in a dirty car park. Brown pinstripes let the Arch man stand out well enough on the street and in the office, but in the dim lighting of the lounge were more than enough to blend it without being talked about eye sore. Perfect social camouflage while still being the flamboyant one. The purpose was to figure just what the hell was going on in Vegas these days and what he may have missed or not seen in the first place. Really it could be the Arch man going insane but he highly doubted that since every other conversation he had was someone going through harder times in the last few months like it was going out of style to have a nice quiet normal life. Even he himself was now ankle deep in gangsters. ARCHIE, with GANGSTERS. And not the classy kind. The Fairest had a Die Like a Samurai in front of him and was playing Candy Crush on his phone while he waited for his guest, with a small slim box rectangular box with a green bow on it in front of him. All he had to do now was wait for the gossip to come to him, and grease the wheels a little along the way. Krakenbox

The blonde faun's glittering pink heels clicked against the tiled floor as she squinted in the dark, warmth flowing from her as her Mantle flooded into Archie's spotlight. Despite being north of her thirties, her Mantle and freckles had diffused into white fawn spots, bronzed skin was adorned with a nude button up with black lace the didn't need to be low to show off her impressive assets while a high waisted business skirt hugged her hips. The beetles were polite enough to not catch on food or hair, keeping to the aesthetic of the background before fading from Reality. "Such a mood, Archie!" she announced, gesturing to the bar before she sat next to him, leg swinging over the other to sit pretty with an inquisitive lean. "How have you been?"

“What is life without a little mood lighting, Hermia!”
An easy and simple answer for her as he reached into his jacket pocket.
“It's been too long, you know? So I feel like I owe you.”
He withdrew and presented her with two tickets.
“Usher is starting his residency, prime seats, only the best for you, only the best from me.”
Talk about an ice breaker.
“How haven’t I been is more like it. Been trying to mingle in different crowds, and try to up my community involvement - was surprised that you didn’t hear about Valentines day, we booked up that fancy chocolate factory with the cactus garden. Lots of wine, and some very interesting guests. I was even surprised by who brought who. Shocking really.”
He smiled, not giving too much as he gave his own lean towards her while resting his back on the seat. He tried to keep his response like her skirt - long enough to cover the basics, but short enough to catch attention.
“What about you, anything I should be caught up with?”

She blinked, lips forming an 'o' as she looked at the tickets, "Ohmigosh! That's awesome of you! I'll make sure to clear my schedule — we'll have a great time. How did you even get these?"
Rather than a cocktail, she ordered them Absinthe, clapping the tips of her fingers together as the fountain was set up. "Valentines day affairs? You'll have to tell me," she purred, "Sad I missed it; but the hiking's been weird. Normally I can clear the hop in a couple of days? I'm not liking the signs, so, I'd advise avoiding LA unless you know your way around the bush. I went to that cabin party with Scheherazade."
She was referring to Trods and the Hedge, given her job with the Guild of the Sacred Journey. With context, the mention of the cabin likely meant a Hollow.

“Don’t feel like you need to take me - always happy for a show but use them how you see fit. As for how I got them? Please - I have all sorts of little tricks, I just save the really nice ones for the people I like.”
He chuckled as he explained that he had his own little trick for getting these tickets. He just knew that when he made things like this happen, people tended to be in a better mood.
“Chasing the Green Fairy are we?”
Haha, Absinthe.
“Should I be long term worried about the trails? I am somewhat of a thorn in the side when it comes to travelling. I am pretty sure they are going to make the Hartman rule at some point that gives you X amount of frequent flyer miles. Is everything generally okay in LA or is there trouble a brewing? More than usual I should say.”

"I didn't, and I wouldn't. You just seem fun," she said with a wink. She gestured to the elaborate instrument, "I like the song and dance, and the way it changes colour if you treat it right. But mostly it's the licorice."
She knew Archie frequented the city: travelling not as often as her, of course, but more than the average Lost for sure. Many refused to leave their Freeholds for their entire lifespan, given the risk. The faun could deduce that he likely had family there, or an important lover to be gambling with the flights. A Huntsman manifesting on the plane would be a nightmare.
"I...wouldn't. Nothing unusual with the community, but, like...lots of weird stuff appearing where it shouldn't. Gates aren't being locked and houses are getting broken into. There's a lot of wildlife sightings. Wouldn't risk your loved ones." There was a silent plea, and an experienced eye that told him in these situations, she knew better.
Goblins, Huntsman and bears, oh my.

He nodded listening to what she had to say...Looks like if things became desperate a trip to Vegas was in the works for the next holiday excursion. That would be tricky, especially as he wanted to try and keep his one foot involved with Courts. At the very least he was sure his Mother could appreciate Linden, she always did like Clint Eastwood.
“I would have thought otherwise, combining what you are telling me about the trails and seeing some of what would be established residents making a move, I was getting worried that there was trouble afoot. I mean one doesn’t just up and leave when they have all the favor, and we all know the rich don’t move for just any reason - so when Buck showed up I thought that was the prequel for what was coming.”
He brought up Buck, one of the reasons he had asked her for drinks. This was good info though and he was going to need to pocket it.

"I mean, I don't think the weather shifts aren't what's causing people to move," she said with a shrug, "Rarely does unless the whole place is about to sink, and LA's got a lot of money."
She watched the sugar cube burn, sparking green and blue from the chemicals.
"Surprised you aren't there yourself, actually. Seems more your thing." There was a lot of mundane freedom in a smaller Court — Spring was largely on its own and left to the individuals Desires than the tyranny of the mob. Archie's absence at the bigger Lost parties was noted, given her usual attendance and his extroverted nature. There was a silent letter in this algebra that needed revealing before it added up properly.

“Hmm, you think our newest Spring Playboy knew the ground was sinking and got out before the getting was good. I heard from a friend of a friend you had some hot takes on the matter. But then again, it is you Hermia, what don’t you have the hot take on?”
He chuckled, and sipped his cocktail, continuing to massage the conversation naturally and seeing if he could get more info without having to be blunt about it.
“And LA just wasn’t my flavor, I would be an absolute small fry and stereotype - and anything I would want to be close too would be what eventually drove me away. The Meadows just has a bit more hope, it doesn’t have the same stench, it doesn’t have the same way of salting that wound. I could also say I am more at home living where the show never ends, versus where the shows are made. The only real regret I have is that I didn’t learn Italian and duck to Rome. A real hotspot for talent export, but beaches that you would kill for.”
Another round of laughter as he stirred his drink up with the straw as he mused.

"Oh, Buck?" she blinked, eyelashes fluttering as the green liquid flowed to her lips. "He's been in LA for a long time. Chicago before that, I think, but that would be when he was still believably in his twenties. Spring's been smaller since the Hollywood dream started to circle the drain," her painted nail of French tips and bubblegum pink spun in the air to emphasize.
"He's always done his own thing. No crown for those antlers. We all knew he wasn't going to be the one to change things forever; but he was good about making sure the Mirror didn't squish us with our own shallow anxieties."
The heart of Los Angeles fed off of weight loss surgeries, Botox, and the crime of showing your face after twenty one and not strapped to an aging actor. The Fear there was decidedly mundane but more powerful than imagined when Lost always strived to belong.

“Here, here, I am happy to avoid unpleasant squishing.”
He raised his glass to comment on her own statement.
“Have you spent time with him? Color me curious, but someone who is a literal picture of the philosophy and not grabbing the brass ring? I mean I know some people are wired differently, but even I have trouble believing that. Especially when names like sunset get slung around."
“My only real experience is the tail end of Mabon, and after that call me spooked, so I haven’t had the time to really extend any formal greetings myself.”
Hermia was already painting a picture that may have been at odds with his own conceptions of the situation. Sure they seemed a lot more innocent and hard to pin down as nefarious but this wasn’t necessarily a situation where nefarious deeds needed to be at play. It was like introducing Cane Toads to Australia, good natured but there were going to be consequences to the transplant - and especially by the sheer nature of the Emerald court of Las Vegas’ own history of instability.

"A little bit," she said with a knowing smile. "And I thought it was a jab at the situation here, you know, with the monarch musical chairs. Do you know why they keep dying? Do you know why someone like him wouldn't want to sit in that chair?"
Hermia popped her tongue at the mention of Mabon, "I think that was more Icarus giving him a bit of a tease. He was really aggressive once he realized how shy the Magistrate is, and I think he rode the attention. Ya'know, peacocking."

“You know, I find that sometimes even though you know the history, the ‘why’ can escape you. Am I missing a Spring time curse? Should I be worried if I find the crown in a box of cereal?”
Archie aimed to pry into some of the Freehold’s history. He knew the general state of affairs but had never really been able to dig in and really get the why’s. So while he was here with the Freehold’s picture perfect model of hearsay and gossip it seemed worth trying to tap the resource. It also served to stop the aggressive line of questioning he had been pursuing. Strong King - ArchieToday at 1:26 PM

"I heard it's because the Old Regime that founded Vegas won't let anyone replace their motley members," Hermia said as she leaned in, taking a dramatic sip.

“I suppose that tells us why Rudoloh is quite content to just swear up each time there is a new batter at the plate - safer to serve in safety, then run a losing race? Either way it is quite the mess of office politics, and if I have any hope of raising my own stock I am going to have to pick a manager, worry about the old wives table, and still am wary when the new guy in town is flaunting around.”
He laughed and finished his own drink.
“And to think, I was getting used to having a dull life of bar hopping and show watching every night in Sin City.”
