It made her curious what it is like to actually have a love or sex life in general. "Eh, I've never really gotten deep into the romance-related stuff. I can talk a big game, but I need to be chased into a corner.
"Like, it's bad. I barely even know my sexual preference half the time. Sexual fluidity is a thing right?" She chuckles awkwardly.
"Back in Baltimore, I had things I needed to get done; romance was basically on the backburner. Sometimes you get into a fight and it just sparks something, but it never develops. Here, thus far, nada. Not that I don't find anyone in our community unattractive. Y'all are all too pretty."
Huh, I wonder how I rate on that scale. I know that I can attract, but am I actually pretty? She'd never really thought or cared about it before.
"I'm sure at some point I may find a change in that area." She then begins to wonder, Do I talk too much? "Though, I'll admit, I don't know that I'd date outside of our circles. Certain people just make things too messy in the long rung. I might be that long relationship type if I want one. Probably."

"Ah, too bad," Linden said sympathetically. "Different schedules is a tough one, gotta really put in time to make that work." They didn't mean to suggest that Riley wouldn't put in the necessary effort, but they didn't correct themself either.
They listened to Firebringer, head cocked lightly to one side as they mulled her comments. "Sexual fluidity is totally a thing, and like... plenty of people don't even feel sexual attraction. I usually don't until I'm already attached to somebody, y'know, have some kind of bond." They gestured vaguely between themself and Firebringer, fingers describing an invisible line. "I get what you mean about dating folks you relate to, though. Seems hard to build something lasting without that kind of common ground. At least, to me."
Changelings could have longterm mundane partners, Linden knew that, but it sounded painful not to be seen in your entireity by someone who was supposed to know you so intimately. Like it would erase part of them, or be a lie.
"Besides, its hard enough to find someone who can respect my boundaries." They chuckled, but the laugh was more teeth than mirth.

Riley smiled at Firebringer's answer before turning to Linden's response. The darkling wondered if they had ever seen Linden with a partner, if they had it was too obvious to the Wisp. "Dating outside...uh circles can be a challenge. But then again they don't always come with the same...baggage."
The Bright one pondered that balance for a moment. It seemed that choice also reflected a lost's preferred life, the mortal or the fae. "If ya ask me," The moth pause to take a sip of their shitty beer. Before looking towards Firebringer with a smile. "Sounds like you, don't know what you want yet."

Danica nods, considering that for a long moment and then nods her head to the side, "Yeah, that sounds about right. Not like I don't form close bonds though, just not really those bonds. Then again, the gym was kinda gross back home and I didn't spend much time socializing elsewhere.
"Well... I say that. There was a cute librarian I used to hang with, but that was few and far between. Doesn't help that I'm bad around books. Paper in general." I swear, I wasn't trying to light that nearly extinct book on fire. "And then there was that guy..." Oh, we don't want to go there today, "I'm not incapable of crushes at the very least."
She then laughs a bit at Riley's comment, "You know, you're probably right on that one. You know what though, I'd take not knowing what I want to having an exact narrow type," Taking a sip of her own drink, she considers it. Poor Frosty. Though, not my tale to tell. "There are only two things I've ever been sure of - if you don't do something, you'll always lose, and Almond Joys are absolutely disgusting."

"I agree with the first part of that," Linden offered, smile crooked, "But I can't bring myself to condemn the Almond Joy."
"Crushes, though, are the food of life. I got through so many shitty jobs when I was younger by having a crush on somebody; delivery guy that only came Thursdays, the woman who worked at the sandwich place around the corner, anyone. People are cute, and it was something more pleasant to think about than what bit of concrete needed to be busted up next." With a dreamy sigh, they shook their head. "That hasn't happened as much, recently. Wonder why not, I kind of miss it."
Emptying the dregs from their glass, the Ogre stood. "Another round? I'm buying... unless you don't want me to."

"I think I am with Fire on the almond joy" Riley laughed and leaned forward balancing themselves on their elbows on the table. "And on the crushes. I wholeheartedly agree. I swear I go through half a dozen in a week. Maybe you need a change of location? "
The moth shakes their empty can as Linden stands up. "yes please, a mixed drink if you don't mind." They flashed a smile of appreciation and to earn some brownie points.
When Linden began to move towards the bar, Riley looked to Fire bringer.
"But to your first point. I would argue Having a type and knowing what you want are not the same. I am talking about what you want, what you need, or desire. Think of it like this" Riley paused and looked to the dance floor. "It's like knowing what you want is to get hot and sweaty on the dance floor for hours. To move, to dance, to be lost in the music. That's what you want. Knowing you like to get funky to Techno or say 90's. That's having a type"

"Crushes do give something nice to focus on at times, I can definitely agree with that."
"I am always down for another round. Something fruity with rum please. You buy this one and I'll buy the next if we get another." She finishes off her drink, happy to continue their fun conversations and festivities.
She thinks on Riley's points. I mean... "I have a goal in being here that I need to accomplish, or at least work towards. That is what I want. Sexually, crush wise, it would be nice to have some comfort. I'd like that, but I'm not seeking it. At least, not actively, if that makes sense? Really, I guess, if I think about it, I just want close friends. If that leads to close friends also doing sexual things, that'd be cool too, but not required." She wonders if that makes sense at all. It might have, but she is slightly inebriated.

"Mixed, and fruity with rum, got it." With a lazy salute, Linden loped off to the bar once more. Leaning against it, they let the bartender take her time getting to them; it was nice, being out and just chatting, but it was bright and painful too. Hope kept stealing into the back of their mind, that maybe it could be like this and more. And, maybe it couldn't. It was too soon to know, to do anything but set the boat on the stream and step back. They had to be patient.
When they returned to the table it was with three drinks held easily in their long fingers: a Sazerac for Riley, Mezcal with a rock for themself, and a beautifully layered rum punch for Firebringer. Setting them down gently, the Ogre lowered themself back onto their stool. "Alright, here we go! Hope I made the right choice and if you don't like it, I'll drink it for you. I'm a gentleman that way." Linden grinned, mostly teasing.
"Did I miss anything?"

The Bright one raised an eyebrow at the Elemental as she mentions having a goal for being here.
"You are too kind," Riley said turning their attention to Linden as the Metalflesh made their return. The moth lifted the drink in an appreciative salute.
"I was just talking to Dani about the difference between knowing what you want and what your type is."
Riley glanced to the firebringer with a smile. "In reflection, it seems, she does know what she wants." Riley would let Dani speak for her self, taking a sip of the Sazerac.

Danica takes her drink with a big smile, "Ooo, delicious. Thanks, Linden!" She goes ahead and takes a sip, doing a little bit of a happy dance.
"Oh, yeah. I may not know what I want out of romantic relationships really, but I know what I need to do here in good ol' Nevada." She sighs a little bit, "Oh, but on relationships. I just need close pals. Shit gets rough. You need people."
"Either of you two ever had a clique?" That was her code word for motley, but she didn't know if it was commonly over here. "I had one back home before some things hit the fan. Who knows, maybe I'll find that here again. Can be a better support group than even your frat." A word she uses for Court, just because she never could figure any other word out. She'd had enough Winters get on her case that she started getting better at code. Assuming people actually understood her.

"You're speaking my language," the Ogre said with a deep nod and a lift of their drink. "We all need people." Saying anything more on that subject felt too close to home, like they would be admitting something pitiable. And they didn't do well with pity.
"Clique? Oh, sure. No, not yet. Just haven't met the right folks, I guess." The idea of Firebringer's previous motley meeting some kind of unfortunate end, literally or metaphorically, sort of bummed Linden out. It wasn't that they expected motleys to last forever, but, well, maybe they had hoped.
"Love to find them, though."

The moth sipped their sazerac thoughtfully looking between their drinking companions.
Everyone needs people.
“Never been in one myself” they say with a slight shrug.
“Honestly, it hasn't crossed my mind” They lied.
They glanced to Linden for a moment than back to fire.
“Since being back. I was busy with hustling, keeping a roof on my head. That and living life. Ya know? But… I understand the appeal though. Claire keeps hounding me to find people outside of work. ”
They laughed almost feeling Claire’s eyes on their back.
“I think she would prefer a support group, but a clique. Could be second best”

Danica grins then, "Who knows, maybe we all find common ground and a goal and we take a plunge," she laughs a bit.
"My last one got together within ten minutes of meeting in one of their homes. We might have been somewhat drunk, but sometimes you just click like that. Don't uh decide to come up with a secret handshake before you're sober though. Ours was kind of wild. Though, it was good for all of us. That's kind of the point, getting together to make each other better people. Also having people to perpetually spill the beans to."
She smiles at those fond memories. Even though things got bad in the end, what mattered was the continual connection that exists for eternity, even though the relationships have changed. "And in my last place, beans were always ripe for spilling," Not just social drama, but all the venting in the world. The snide remarks, the feelings of self-doubt, every kind of story one could share to try and work through the mess of life.

The smile at the corner of Linden's mouth was more vulnerable than intended, unsure if they were reading too much into Firebringer's words. The idea of assuming friendship or intimacy and being wrong made them want to turn inside out, and they ended up deciding that the 'we' was more general than the three people sitting at the table.
"That's fast! But I guess if you're all feeling it..." They wanted, as someone who dealt with drunk folks all the time, to be able to say drunken motley-making sounded iffy at best, but really it sounded great. Not wise, but they could understand the appeal of the sheer fun of it, leaning into the moment.
"I don't think I know where you were before you moved here...?" The question was offered to Firebringer with a very loose grip: if she wasn't interested in answering, it would easily fall away under whatever came next.

Riley chuckled at Firebringer's story of their last motely. It seemed rash and impulsive. Two things the Darkling couldn't fault the fire elemental for. They made plenty of rash choices with alcohol and people.
They couldn't help draw the comparison to a Vegas wedding though which smiled at them.
"Wow, talk about jumping in bed on a first date!" they teased.
"Seems like it was a good thing, while it lasted"
The wisp looks to Linden's question but Fire bringers comment about taking the plunge stuck with Riley. The idea was seductive, but the Moth didn't wanna play their cards too early.
