Henley blinked at Gavin even as he turned his head to face the Queen.
"I'm pretty confident that I die in that plan, which is such a bummer, brother," Henley quipped, a half-smile crossing his face. "Plus, I'm not so sure we can just toss a child at the King and have it All Work Out. I think we need someone who is an absolute pro at the strange world of goblin politics."
Blink. He looked frustrated. The Ogre was drawing a blank.
"That's me, usually, but I... I don't know how this works. How often do you flip a Goblin Monarch? It's not something that has happened since I've been Free."
He looked to Philicia.
"How do we manage such a thing?"

Philicia made a small 'o' with her mouth as Gavin ran over his plan.
"I think it would take negotiating with the more powerful brokers of the Market. Though, without competition, Machina doesn't really budge from his positions. You would have to convince those who wish to keep him as King of the alternative...they pick their monarch as a paradox where they are both prisoner and final say on their decisions. Really, they just need someone to make a decision for them to have any sort of direction, right? That's why they group under a Keeper or band together to Title a Hob. The Hedge doesn't pick directly, but it kind of does the more you think about it. Else Machina would have unlocked his box a long time ago, I think. He is compelled to remain."
She was talking to two Goblin occultists, so she wasn't looking to preach to the choir.
"So, really, you just need to assert your will over the bottomless pit of Goblin greed by wanting more than they do." A knowing grin stretched on the doll's face as the conclave of dwarf rabbit servants had slowly coalesced around their table in their own little courtly gathering. Noses twitched as they toasted one another and spoke silently of gossip in the elaborate finery the Queen had given them.

When the tone of response didn't jump to match his fears, Gavin looked back to his friend. "I mean obviously that 'plan' was more of a concept that met the functional requirements of flying through all the necessary loopholes. The details would have to be worked out: Keeping all of our side alive and free and not obligated to one of Them or Their agents are clearly among the objectives." He was grateful Henley hadn't assumed the worst of him. "Those could all be massaged into place."
"Machina took debt from me for the knowledge that his price to expel the Keeper from the Market was an heir for his throne. Work that into a promise from him as well as precautions that would keep him from abdicating to the heir before expelling the Keeper or allowing you to be whisked away. Technically we wouldn't even need to see to a succession of the throne to meet his requirement. " Conscious that what might be necessary to technically succeed in the endeavor was different to what Henley required to enthusiastically make the attempt, he had set out to ease his Motleymate's very reasonable concerns. Few would willingly stand near an aspect of the demigod that kidnapped and tormented them after all. "Lay out a Plan, weave on the Wheel, Seal Promises ahead of the move, map the Market's factions to manage interference, and distract or pit adversaries off each other. There is plenty to be done to control the variables to your comfort."
The occultist regarded the possibility that the destruction of the Title recently may have already truly freed a Huntsman from its bondage and could offer a valuable source of information to wield against their foe. Gavin almost mentioned it, but decided to keep the card closer to his chest for the moment.

Henley gave a thumbs-up to Gavin's more detailed plan, thinking that with time to think and prepare, they'd be able to come up with the approach. "Sounds like we need a planning session, then. We'll figure something out. I bet Victor could even make us a Plan. The Gambit is always handy."
Blink. He glanced back to Philicia.
"Who are we talking about, then? It's trivial for me to summon the cat, but I take it he's not the only one we'd need, is it."

"Oh for those kinds of negotiations, you would need to be recognized as nobility. So that would need some Entitlement backing," she sniffed, "Poppy, the Packmaster, Vasilisa the Wise, and Androcles are your established Market royalty...where the Broker is more like a visiting dignitary. That one would likely be useful if you can offer it tit for tat. Before the Hedge acts as its client instead."
