"It... means a lot. Really, Abigail."
She'd leave it at that. The dragon's largesse had come to pass after all, and that was something she'd pay back in the future. To her directly, to be sure, and also to the Golden Hind whose life she had saved. Turning her attention to Massacre and weighing his answer, she did not appear to find it wanting. The colors shifted to a pleased fuchsia. "I do, if you've got the time. I... well," she leaned in, lowering her voice so as to not be overheard above the Chilean singer at the center on the piano. How did you explain a time-killer in a bar?
"Abigail's club has a real swell fellow in it. Just a cool guy. Name's Buck. You've probably heard of him?"
If he hadn't, he was living under a rock. The Buck Chasseur hosted all the best parties, or so she had heard. Her next line was going to be oblique for concealing their nature. It had to be.
"Someone tried to shoot him at a party, but the responsible party was not the shooter. It's a very complicated situation involving some weird timing, but I mean to find out who is behind it. You want to help?"

"Oh I am gifted in many areas, M," she offered, her smile turning almost playful at the insinuation, though she does not move to correct herself, "And thus far, yes, I haven't had to nurture those talents in some time. Perhaps that is for the better, hmm?"
There were soldiers and there were brawlers. The violence that rang with the Pale Dragon was neither. It was... something else and lacking in civility. To the Fairest, it was best left buried.
"He is quite swell, isn't he? Some say he's quite dreamy," she offered as the conversation turned to Buck, her tone dipping low alongside the Wizened's, "Although this little... tragedy has postponed our meeting, sadly."
Very inconvenient.
With that she settled in, sipping on her cocktail as the Kai opened the door to recruit Massacre to her investigation.

The hermit who'd emerged from under his rack indeed, not, heard of Buck. Kai was very gifted at layering her questions with sensitivity to where they were. Massacre steeled himself from asking a thousand questions. Euphemisms made him want to beg for clarity. A persistent wound from his time in Arcadia that made him mistrustful of puns, japes, and hidden meanings. Instead, he regarded Kai and her multi-colored expressions. It was hard not to take everything she said at face value. He wanted to trust her at her word. That made it more necessary to be cautious. "I'll help. Though it comes with a condition. If this is for vengeance or to repay blood for blood, leave me behind. I've no stomach for that sort of work. Anything outside of that? We can work together, favor-free; so long as I can count on you hearing me out when I require assistance." He let the words linger and searched Kai's face for understanding, and sussing out if there was any anger. He turned to Abigail. She seemed to be exactly what she presented herself as. What she presented herself as, Massacre couldn't approve. The forthcoming nature, however, made Massacre nurture a sliver of respect. "Better for the world to not nurture those talents, perhaps...but do take care. I've known extraordinary individuals of iron, copper, and steel." He paused and made a twirling motion with a hand. "The materials are a metaphor and these individuals were not literally made of metals." An important distinction. "Those of steel, true steel, thrived in conflict...but when they were hung up. When they hung up, most let themselves go to rust." The skull seemed to stare out past Abigail. "They let themselves be their skills, without being anything more." He then tapped a long blade against the side of his skill. "Passion, Abigail. That's how we keep the rust at bay. Is Buck one such passion for you?"

"Oh, I'm sure you'll get the chance. Especially if you come help. I'm sure your people will want a liaison on the case," Kai suggested. Factually speaking, it was usually easier having someone from the Court you were investigating involved. They were usually helpful for cutting through red tape and giving context to Courtly things that might not otherwise be apparent. M's reply was interesting. Was he a pacifist? Or just a guy with no stomach for the rough stuff? In either case, it didn't matter.
"Reasonable. It's a case, not a hit. We do a fair bit of police work around here, it seems." In fact, that seems to be Summer's role in Vegas for the most part. Look into the bad stuff that happened, and protect the community by running down the leads and solving the issue. Sometimes, that would be at the tip of an arrow, but largely, Kai expected that most of her work would be trying to piece together the truth.
God, this dude was poetry in motion. She was about to talk about the nature of doing shit for fun, but a smirk hit her face at the question of Buck being Abby's passion. That question deserved an answer. She wasn't about to interrupt.

Ivory listened as the skull spoke it's piece, relayed its metaphors, and, ultimately, pondered her passion.
"Agreed, if I had stayed as I was, you would be looking at a very different woman," she offered, clearly pleased that the Winter seemed to understand her desire to learn more than what had come naturally, "I am content to let that piece of myself rust a little while longer though. In time, I may need to dust it off. Give it a good cleaning... I do not look forward to that day."
Ivory was not blind to the simple truths of her new existence. She would likely need to access that part of her being again, either as a means of survival or a means to progress past her station. However, there were other avenues to try first and Desires to be fulfilled in the interim.
At the question of Buck's importance to her, the dragon merely smiled.
"Buck is worth knowing," she responds, "Do I need a reason greater than that for pursuit?"
The answer was indirect, but it was given.
