There was moment of free fall, a strange sense of vertigo as Yuan weathered the choir of the Pledge. He took the shot and focused on the burning feeling going down as the magic was woven between them. He felt giddy, oblivious now at how little attention was being paid to him. He had to see this through now, if only because it would make Mitch whole again. He didn't know what he had to offer, but he was going to offer all- most of it.
"I know a guy," he ventured. "If the pawn shops don't pan out. Not exactly legal, but at that point we'll have little choice." He was helping, right? Even if it was only for tonight, only for a little while and was bound to end, the Beast wanted to savour this connection.
To focus on the present, instead of the inevitable ending.

Mitch clasped the handshake with a grin that was more present, finally tipped over the edge that they weren't harmlessly jerking him around with guilty, empty sympathy. It wasn't that the Dancer was resentful of the Freehold; he knew his mental health was his own responsibility, and even then the occasional Lost asked how the noble was doing with awkward concern that wouldn't be followed up on. People wanted to know he was going to be all right—like Yuan had—but didn't have the resources or gall, frankly, to insert themselves into his troubles. Mitch's gratitude continued to radiate as he beamed at the Yuan, who seemed to be determined to follow through despite Playmate's misgivings.
He took the opportunity to wipe an errant tear or two to reflexively smooth his cracking visage—pressure trying to emerge from a limited shell. It seemed like a self-perception problem that Elementals should be dealing with; but he was strongly connected to Arcadia now and it was hard to choose what he really was at the end of the day. The thought led him to turn his head to glance at Fawkes and Kai, giving a small wave and snickering under his breath on what this chaos must have looked like without context.
"I can ask about armour along with the guns?" Mitch offered Henley, not wanting to rack up the Ogre's tab without pulling his own weight. It sounded weird coming out of his mouth. He also waved over one of the Autumn volunteers and a dutiful hobgoblin to point out all the glass they had just smashed.
Now that everyone had their ducks in a row, the Fairest was comfortable tapping Yuan. He waited a beat, to see if the Beast was immediately going to dart off somewhere or voice wanting to do something with the rest of his evening.

"Yeah, that's fine," Henley replied, nodding to the Dancer. "Let's go take twenty and get this ritual done. Excuse us."

Gavin had sauntered over to his Liege whom had been in the midst of a hand at one of the Blackjack tables. Scorpio seemed happy with the state of affairs in her leisure. The House showed a seven. It was one of the easiest hands to beat other than a dealer bust. It was the most likely to lead to a dealer stand on their hole card if it came up face or ten. If it came up a high number card, the dealer would then be forced to draw again until it hit seventeen or higher. The higher the number card, the more likely the extra card would cause a bust. The Knight's hand showed the five of hearts and the ace of spades, a soft sixteen. To Gavin's estimation, she was in a good position. She had to hit, but nothing that came up could cause her to bust and depending on where the deck was at she had a good chance to win. Any two through five card would place her above seventeen.
He smiled at her and waiting for the hand to play out. He wanted to wait for her to win before asking her for the favour. The Beads he wanted were not an infinite resource, nor one to be squandered. A happy Beast is more likely to lean the direction the team needed.
She indicated to the dealer with a finger tap to deal a card when her turn came up.
The dealer pulled a four from the shoe for her. Soft twenty, a very strong place to stand. She would need another ace to hit twenty-one and anything other than an ace would make things rough. She still could not lose immediately on the next card if she chose to take it, but the risk of busting afterward went up steeply.
She wisely stood.
The dealer played out the next player who stood on an eighteen. The two cards that went to the Freeholder would not have helped Scorpio. She made the best choice she could in that moment and now the rest was up to chance.
The dealer flipped the hole card revealing the queen of diamonds.
Each of the players that hadn't gone bust won the round.
The Knight smiled wryly as her chips doubled.
Seizing his moment, "Good evening. Seems things are going well for you. Do you have a minute?"
The Beast considered her a moment, somewhat apprehensive to leave a hot table, before relieving her seat with the dealer for the next few hands.
Stepping away from the table, Gavin was met with a raised brow. Apparently his face and context had been broadcasting he was about to ask for something, rather than anything social. "You want something," she stated knowingly.
"Yeah, you've got that right. Two things actually. We have a bit of an opportunity here. I'm looking to help cobble Mitch back together with a good bit of Spring support. That's going to take us into the Hedge to go hunt down an Icon for him. The influence of Samhain on the Hedge and the general expectation that we won't be there right now help mitigate the risks of taking someone who is run a little ragged, shall we say. Mitch helps keep a lot of Lost on track around here. It's probably good for everyone if we help him out in his own moment of need."
"The other. I need to speak with the King. Sooner rather than later. It can't wait for Wednesday if I'm going to use the cover of our ritual to help Mitch either. With the help of the Bishop and a few others showing and explaining their Spring magics to me and my new eye, I've seen the layers behind reality that pattern Spring's renewal and just how it failed to work this go around. Without the right questions, I couldn't rightly explain what I saw. From what I know, only Samedi or Nohoilpi could make use of what I've seen anyway. We have a chance at fixing Spring's healing and consequently their missing contribution to the Wards."
"Long story short, I need to pass what I learned to the King before taking any risk in the Hedge and four sets of beads to go help Mitch, in the Hedge, tonight." Gavin was clearly very excited.

"You should stick around a while," Scorpio suggested as her sharp fingers tapped at her phone, poking the She-Wolf for a high priority Dive. The Legate appeared to be responding with lots of emojis and approving GIFs.
"You've been so busy saving the day all the time, that we haven't gone out drinking since you pledged to me. Tanner's been buried in work, so the social chain's been losing a few links as it were." She wasn't looking to throw the Twilit Page under the bus, but Samedi seemed insistent on keeping the officer title as the troubled student's albatross. He was great when he was engaged; many finding housing, friends, and good parties... but the Jackelope had been on and off since last August.

Gavin smiles at the statement. His presence meant something to her, and it wasn't just for what he could do. "You know I would. I really would." Now he felt pinned between two driving desires. He had continued to line up all the work to get noticed and maybe earn a friend, and now here he was freshly sworn to a task with an open social offer on his plate. He laughed to himself at how he had gotten to this situation. "We'll make plans for another night in the coming month, yeah?" He really didn't want to let that opportunity go. "Could try inviting him along too, remind him a bit about what it's all for."
He thanked his liege for the trust with the valuable resource.
"I still have this burning knowledge in my head. If the King is too busy right now, you'll have to come pull my ass out of the fire if things go sideways," He laughed only half jokingly, "I'm ninety percent sure I have some kind of secret that only he or Nohoilpi could make work to right things with Spring's magic and the wards." The ten percent was the possibility they already knew what was necessary and they were letting the others stew until they begged the elders for their wisdom. In any case, the Freehold was beholden to their choices. The Beast couldn't rightly sort out the probabilities. Politics weren't his thing and his math could be way off. He decided to go with Scorpio's instincts on it.
