The empty toothpick twirled like a pen in Nott's fingers as she caught the glint in Sofia's eye. This was more like it, even if it did register as a possible threat. Realistically, though, someone who claimed to be as capable as her fellow Winter wouldn't be so transparent about something like that. To the shooting range they would go. "You've got a deal! I'm glad you've got a place you like, I haven't shopped around yet." In response to the mention of her sharp eyes, she simply winked without any attempt to make it subtle.
Swirling the wine in her glass, it seemed time to take the focus off of Abigail- her life before money seemed like a topic that she either wouldn't enjoy discussing, or the rest of them might not enjoy hearing. Hard to celebrate someone else's rise when you were still snaking other people's hair out of your drain.
Nott turned slightly to fix her full attention back on Rebecca. "What are you about when its not wine and cornichon? Some kind of researcher?" From limited context it seemed like a good guess, but she was sure the intimidating woman would set her right.

Olivia's wink brings a rare heartfelt smile to Blaze's face - an expression that quickly gives way to confusion when Ivory confesses troubles with the city's approach to her work. A note of frustration is detectable, which is made all the more profound against the context of the Dragon being nothing but polite and cordial.
"Why would the city not make it easy? I'd think it's all brownie points for them: the photo ops at fundraisers, the popularity boost, and they don't even have to spend anything. Admittedly I'm not an expert on bureaucracy, but that may be because I hate it. And I've always tried to keep my distance from things I hate."
She shrugs. Dealing qith the quagmires and quicksands of office politics lies way outside of Blaze's skillset, which is something she isn't concerned about in the least. Let others tangle with those issues, she's there for the more personal touch.
"But then, I have a luxury of not being anyone important."
And what a relief that is.

The smile on Ivory's face lessened slightly at Sofia's question. It beckoned the memories of the city's callousness towards the residents and the violence that coldness elicited as Maria Melnyk took advantage of the desperate. The situation could have easily cost Ivory her life, but she endured. In a small way, she even proved victorious with her goals on the matter.
"In this case, the city was aligned with the investors," she said, "So they created new ordinances and legislation that made it difficult for the residents to protest the gentrification. Alongside increased taxation, there were not enough resources to assist families in leaving. Coupled with a few internal issues, the situation was not a pleasant one and the outcome was already more or less assured."
Ivory wouldn't speak too deeply on the crime and violence, but there were many reports of such things.
"I... have no investments in Whitney personally, but I saw what was happening and understood what it meant," she continued, "I realized I couldn't stop the process from continuing so I instead chose to help alleviate the exodus of families from the neighborhood."
Sofia's comment on important people elicited a small laugh from the Pale Dragon.
"Nor am I," she said, "All I am is a wealthy widow with a loud mouth... along with an understanding for bureaucracy and business."

The four continued to chat, coming and going easily if they needed a top-up or a bit more to eat. Small talk occasionally hinted at deeper or more complicated truths, but between them they balanced each other out and kept up their disguise as mundane, if exceptional, women out on the town. At least, it felt like a disguise to Nott- one she was excited to peel back when there were fewer prying eyes and ears, jab a stick into the waters and see just how deep they went. The exchange of numbers may not have been her idea first but once it came up the Wizened was on board, even if she insisted on people dictating how they could be reached so other hands never touched her phone.
As they began to disperse, she aimed a fingergun at Sofia and grinned before heading off into the night.
