He would leave the actual, physical fighting to Dani and Linden. After all, that was the reason they were there in the first place. Rowan was more interested in those chains. Now that he had noticed them, he was curious to see what would happen if he attacked them instead of the bloated mass. If he managed to sprain his foot, maybe he had enough physicality to...
This was how he fought - he waited and bid his time. And then, only then, when the target was distracted, he struck.

Against what was expected, the glamour around Rowan's claws shimmer as he strikes, connecting with the barely visible links. As the weight of his swing pulls on the storm, black smoke coils and peels from the mass as if flesh were being torn from hooks.
Are the ghosts around the periphery closer? A few were on the ground, as if frozen in a position to scuttle towards him and Agrippa on all fours.

Agrippa glanced at the things encroaching in the distance. They needed to end this soon. They took in a breath and started back at the dumpster- if they did this enough times they were bound to do something right? Monkeys and typewriters and all of that...
Frankly, it felt like harmless harassment, but it pulled some focus from whatever was happening on the other side.

Dani's anger begins to rise, white practically flashing before her eyes. This time she's gotta hit. This time it needs to work. If Linden goes down, she's just as screwed. She focuses, thinks about the target in front of her, focuses on only it and smashing it to bits like she did that cow with Rowan. Fucking cow. Bull. Whatever it was. It was a zombie.
"We got this, Linden." She says, trying to bring up the morale right before the punch, for them, for herself. Yes. They can do this. They're Summers, dang it. No one can bring them down, especially not in the middle of their Season. But will the flaming fist connect?

There was no backing down. The ghosts were closing in and they needed to move on. He had a theory and it was time to put it to the test. Hopefully, the Summers would do their job of keeping the monstrosity occupied.
He aimed for the links again, hoping that he was breaking fetters. There was no time to stop and check that theory.

As Firebringer's fist connects, the meat sloughs off in sizzling flame. The monster's full weight collapses on top of Linden, skin wriggling with silent, twitching screams as muscles fail.
Rowan thrashes at the chain again as the spirits weave around Agrippa in swirling eddies, the Beast withdrawing in a blur of streaking white. More abyssal smoke vents into Twilight like the gout of volcanic miasma. As the pair back away, the storm dissipates...
As Danica watches, the corpse appears to be shifting.
Agrippa wastes no time, attempting to dash towards the graveyard with Rowan close behind. Their hearts sink as gravity starts to pull them back, realizing that they have a limited range of mobility like a horse on a lead line.
The ghosts, sensing the magic in the air, start to scuttle and flicker towards them, picking up speed in a feral, manic excitement.

"Extinguish your gifts."
Agrippa stepped backwards, relaxing the lead as they let their magic dissipate into the ether. They spoke through their teeth, voice hushed like a stage whisper
"Hide or run?"
They flinched as their back made contact with the dumpster. Wide eyes looked up and over it, hoping to spy Rowan on the other side.

The Darkling released the Glamour that was molding his body. He looked down at his ankle before meeting Agrippa’s eyes.
“I’m not in a position to run, really. I think the ankle’s sprained, or worse. The Anchor’s stopped for some reason, so it’s not like we can continue anyway.”
He was hoping that with the Contract gone, they wouldn’t be so much of a beacon anymore.
[Strength + Athletics -2 (Tilt) to climb into the dumpster Roll 2 0 successes]
Pain shot through his ankle as it gave way under his weight.

As Rowan lifts himself, Agrippa watches the glittering cord snake after him. As the spells dissipated, it's clear that the cord is unaffected, though they themselves are no longer radiating with power.

This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't supposed to happen. Her fist connects with the creature and it falls in a giant heap upon Linden. Linden is on the ground and isn't looking good. Fire is doing pretty worse for wear as well... God only knows how heavy that creature is.
She moves as quickly as she can, wordlessly trying to move the creature off of Linden. It's then she realizes just how heavy the creature actually is. This will crush them. No. No. NO. The Torrent rages against this fate. She just needs to work harder. Harder. She feels like she makes progress, something budging.
An arm under the disgusting black gore, trying to find whatever bottom exists to this thing, trying to find the Anchor. If she can just get ahold of it, maybe. Maybe her focus was off, maybe it is the smell of burning, rotting flesh, or maybe it is her footing, but she nearly falls. She catches herself and keeps trying, puts her full will into it over and over again. I can't let this happen. Her stomach is sick, but adrenaline is keeping her going.
She tries pushing bits away, trying to remove excess weight while the other arm lifts. More progress? She isn't sure. By the end, she knows it isn't enough and she begins to sob, still trying. Sickness builds in her, failure builds in her, rage brews in her stomach, but she doesn't feel like a Summer right now.

He hissed the pain that jolted through him. The legion was still getting closer.
"Something's wrong. I'm gonna cut the connection and we make a run for it. Let's head for **the graveyard. We'll worry about coming back later."
With icy talons, Rowan brought down his hand down on the tether that tied them to the physical realm. Right now, it was a dead weight.

The thread was drawn taught, hairs splitting as he pulled before his claw phased through the thread. It was an odd effect, like it was starting to work but something was missing.

"Run meaning dive back."
Agrippa hissed, panicked as they looked on the encroaching sea, trying desperately to see whether their own actions had made any difference to their approach. At the mention of cutting the thread, the unicorn looked back up and frowned
"You'll need glamour for that, but I can get us out."
