She’s been keeping her calm. She’s been keeping her cool. She has self control. Summer is the court of Wrath, not the court of anger. Anger is wrath without direction, without control. Anger can make you stupid. Wayland is not stupid. She keeps her breathing even as she watches the room. Trying not to focus on the Goblin King.
Because the Goblin King is familiar in a way that aches. A way that makes her flex her fingers and bare her teeth. Something about the way it deals. Part of it is the negotiation, the haggling. But mostly it’s the transition. The exchange of one thing for another. The taking of something, the sacrifice, the maiming, in exchange for a promised reward. The gathering up of treasures and discards and ill-gotten gains. Doling them out, shaping what you’ve taken into something new to barter with.
(A tiny voice inside whispers that she could wear that crown.)
Gavin’s inquiry gets her attention. She’s been listening to the negotiations with one ear, hoping she wouldn’t hear anything so terribly stupid that she’d have to intervene. She frowns for a moment in thought.

After a moment's thought, she tells Gavin; "Not to a Knight of the Leaden Mirror," of his suggestion of a fealty oath. "But if he swore to someone else? Maybe. It's dicey."

The Maker's response was as he expected and exactly why he sought her opinion. The politics were a mess he was not qualified to manage.
"Alright. Makes sense. Placing him in a room with the Magistrate shouldn't be too much of an issue though, I'd hope," he nodded.
"Whatever arrangements they cook up would be outside my business anyway, they can manage their own politics. Perhaps I could let them know I'll put a clock on it before informing Bastille, for transparency, to manage mine." Gavin glanced at each Archie, Riley, and Wayland while talking. His tone and expression showed he was more sounding out the ideas than committing to a plan. He was open to being swayed on his helpful, if tenuous, position. If he didn't tell a Summer Knight in a reasonable time, Wayland surely would, so it made sense to be forward about it. The Knight of Borders was the Beast had the most contact with and might be best inclined to be amenable should this crew come back successful--which it seemed they would. This was not a problem that could be easily managed if any member of this quest motley was not on board.

The exchange seemed fair enough. But, of course, Grendel would want some kind of insurance. Scampering back to Autumn, however, without oversight, gave Riley some pause. If he met with Icarus having a representative from Spring there didn't seem impossible given Icarus's relationship with the season.
"I can agree to that, as long as Archie or I can attend this meeting as well. To ensure the transaction is smooth and a third party is present"
That way no rumors, or suspicion could cause even more rifts in the courts.

“The Knight Knight of Dying Light would be fine. The blessings of the Antler Crown are strong with him, and he serves his court as the Magistrate. I think that it is fair that if fealty is sworn then it should be at the very least to a Knight or appropriate officer of the mantle you wear. Regardless of what happened all four courts form the Freehold, and the Chevaliers and other Vigilantes can’t be blamed when they were the ones blood hunting. If they wanted to be aggressive I don’t think anyone would have made it out of that desert so I think we need to take things into consideration.”
Archie the Spring would in this case be much more comfortable in the hands of a Noble of the Spring Court. There was less room to get the wires crossed. Plus he didn’t want the gaze of the Witch King falling on him for selling one who wore the same mantle to Summer. If Summer had issues they could petition the Fall Court, since all were pieces of the same whole.

"If I may, I think Herr Grendel's intent was to speak with the Knight of the Dying Light to submit to arrest for the protections awarded under your King's hospitality. Rather than...wishing to hide from the Court of Wrath." The Broker blinks slowly, mentally weighing the confidence the Ogre had had even in this state of disrepair.

"Right. Okay, that cleans up the math. I'm willing to attempt to arrange a meeting under that understanding," He nods.
"I still require a pledge from Grendel that he will not attack, arrange or knowingly allow an ambush of Sir Icarus going to, at, or on Icarus' return from the meeting for me to offer as an assurance to him. I will be letting the Knight of Borders know of their meeting sometime within the week after it occurs." Gavin glances to each of the others, "Alright, yeah. Simple."

"And the Hedge Gate?" Machina asked patiently, eye rolling to Archie.

“I was under the impression we were trading service to service, but I’m not looking to sour the streak we are on. If you are seeking a gate, I am happy to comply with 72 hours notice given - Mr. Connected needs time after all. Likewise I would like to request travel for travel - and would like to a safe road leading to your market from our Hold. In the end it seems like a wonderful use of Mr. Graves time that would benefit us both, no?”Archie was hoping Hedge Gate had been left on the cutting room floor but the insistence upon it put him in a spot where he would need to maneuver around it, trying to add more to the table now that they had discussed a trade of him for Grendal in simple terms. Could it earn ire? Perhaps but you would never know if you never asked. Plus the compromises he offered would generally be boon to both and hopefully keep him out of greater trouble. The safe's chains shimmered with heat.
"Ah, so you can inform your Freeholders of the time and location of my arrival for assassination. I give you information on the wants and needs of the sovereign on this Market. Information is the most precious currency we have. You have already negotiated every term put on the table. Gavin Graves has offered his time and strength rather than his finger. The road was a gift for this audience and exit for mutual benefit and you wish to take that away now by putting two payments into one. You have denied me friendship and equal power in this exchange, and now you plot my demise and with trickery and deceit. If you wish to have time for your gate, peasant, then I will take time for your exit in turn." The eye blinks,
"I do not like being cheated."

The King is literally in a chained up box and is excited to leave. He wants the Hedge Gate for a sense of freedom and travel and thinks Archie is trying to block that and set up an attack to either assassinate the royal or take him hostage in an attempt to circumnavigate the issue with the Keeper since everyone dropped the Heir thread. The name 'Andromeda' is probably connected to this consideration, but it's understandable for this entity to be cautious when Archie is offering no protections in return.
Since the nature of the deal is for payment of gaining leverage on the King's wants and needs, and was blocking the exit until that was honoured, he will likely rescind Gavin's offer of labour and take a "piece for a piece", and since Archie has been promised safe passage by the Broker, take whatever else he feels he is entitled to from the remaining motley if the Fairest skips on the perceived "debt." An eye for an eye. This information is being seen as valuable as a limb and ties to the world, and as crippling as having it removed and doomed to isolation.
Whether or not it's nefarious, it's a Hobgoblin. If it's nature is a sovereign of a market entity, it would probably be seeking new opportunities to expand commerce opportunities. Morality would never be on the table as a balance to its considerations unless it was to appeal to the individual it was bargaining with.

“You will get your gate, so there is no cheating. However I am protecting my greatest oath, that to my Freehold because I cannot risk leaving the backdoor open when I cannot be so sure on exactly what will be coming through. It is a two way street you see, a door opens with neither of knowing what's on the other side? I feel there is ground to be had, a guarantee of who is coming through and a guarantee of who is waiting. I would be willing to lower this threshold, let's say 24 hours, and under the condition that it is only your true self who passes through and into the custody of our Knight of Borders to discuss fair limits for all? That way your door opens quicker, and we are both protected.”

"A personal attendant and dignitary of the Iron Monarch. How fitting. And you give your word I shall be most protected?"

“I give my word that you shall be protected, as is befitting of one of your status.”
Archie was working his charms best he could so that he could honor the Goblin King’s request while at the same time respecting his Oath to the Freehold and ensuring that everyone who needed to be involved was.
The tension was palpable despite the more upbeat tone he used as he tried to close the deal.
