There was nothing comfortable about the conversation as it went forward. To be fair to Ivory, that was through no fault of hers; there was a deep purple flushing Kai's cheeks and flowing down her neck into her clothing that the dragon could tell was fear, confusion and embarrassment all in one. Still, though it was a bit absent, she sipped at the beverage and listened. "Sure. Take the broken pieces, glue 'em together with something pretty and make it new." She shook her head slowly, not rejecting the thesis but thinking it was clearly easier said than done. "You're right that that is what we all have to do. But it is a long road and a fucked up world we live in, so..."The Wizened let out a long sigh and emptied the drink. "Thanks. But, I mean... Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs starts with the basics before we can get to things like self-actualization. I'm keenly aware of how transient my life is, and it isn't easy to be there. If you want to help me, then cool. I'm fairly confident there is a lot I can do to repay the kindness at some point."
They all had ways of getting into trouble, after all, and she was excellent at resolving certain kinds of trouble. There was a bit of relief in her voice, but it was tinged with something unsaid, a degree of wariness of willingness to accept help.

Ivory lets the Wizened have all the time she needs to gather her thoughts. After all, the Fairest has nowhere to be. She too is considered low in the hierarchy of her own Court. None are clamoring for her attentions - and she has not yet done enough to gift her attentions to another. Still, all of that can change with a night.
And Ivory's Goodwill with Summer remains an interest worth maintaining. Further, Kai's signals that nothing was truly free was on point. Ivory was not likely to be swayed immediately without such promises, but... she had a love for broken things. What was the harm in offering a nudge? If the favor she asked for was beyond the realm of something simple, they could discuss it later. Privately.
"Then we will begin with the basics," she said as the Polychromatic ended her talk, "What do you need?"
There was no hesitance in her voice. If the Wizened truly desired aid in the pursuit of basic needs, she was now being afforded the chance to speak.

What was the harm? Ultimately, almost all recently freed Lost had the same problem she did. Kai leaned in and muttered, "The promises cover shelter and employment, but I could use paperwork," and shrugged. It was a common need, but not always an easy one to meet. She honestly expected to have to go to Winter about it, but hey. If this Fairest could get it done and it wasn't going to cost her an arm and a leg, that would be great.

As Kai leaned in, so too did Ivory to offer their conversation at least a modicum of privacy. She'd grant the Summer a nod as she spoke of employment and shelter. Consistent employment was always a blessing for the Lost and, while Ivory had no need for such things, she had the means to provide it.
"Ah... well my knowledge rests firmly in the legitimate for such things," she offered as paperwork was mentioned, "Arthur was a Congressman, you see. And I did more than look pretty when he was hosting his peers... I'm not sure who you should approach, if I'm honest, but we can find out together."
Leaning back, Ivory would observe the Wizened for a moment as she pondered what she could offer. And if she should.
"I have a large home," she finally said, "You may reside there for a week and a day. It's... in Spring Valley. So you can imagine the tensions that might arise for the long term unless you aim to build certain bridges and agreements?"
Spring Valley was Spring territory. Ivory doubted her fellow courtiers would take kindly to a Summer dwelling their long term without some form of Goodwill.
"As for employment?" she continued, "What would you consider your best assets to provide for a prospective employer?"
An informal interviews of a sort. Why not?
The night was young, the Pale Dragon was sated, and before her resided a chance to build her personal alliances with the Iron Spear.
What was more foolish? To do nothing with the opportunity or run the risk of ruffling a few feathers as she deepened her connection to the Summer Court of Las Vegas?
Something told Ivory that Buck Philicia would understand... though she doubted word of the matter would reach the Monarch

A Congressman? Talk about connected. God, what a notion - the idea of it was beyond anything Kai could really imagine in her current position. She gently shook her head at the offer of a place to stay and employment, thinking that perhaps the Spring Courtier didn't quite understand what she meant. "I've got a job and a place that won't create waves," she replied gently. "That being said, if you've a need for someone to do a little contract work on the side, I'm a..." Blink. Red and blue flowed out from her orbitals as she thought about it. "...very good read of people. They tend to follow my suggestions. I'm good at my Club's usual stuff, but... I don't think that that's a thing I want to be known as having for hire." She wasn't a thug for paper.
She tapped the table, though. "But if you were able to find someone low key who could help with the paperwork, then that would be really, genuinely helpful. Key word being low key."

A sly smile spread across the Pale Dragon's lips as she denied. It was a surprise, but not entirely unwelcome. Perhaps Kai was less desperate than she assumed.
No matter.
"Suit yourself," she offered at the gentle reply, granting the Spear a nonchalant shrug, "As for reading people... I'll bear that in mind. That could be invaluable to me. Although we'll need to exchange contact details... I can't very well make use of your services if I can't find you."
Then the Polychromatic spoke of her desire to be seen as more than just a thug. Preferably not known as a thug publicly at all.
"That would be for the best, I think," she said, "You're less likely to attract... unwanted attention."
As Kai spoke her final thoughts, Ivory listened as she raised her glass, downing the remainder of her cosmopolitan. Setting the glass down, she looked to the Wizened as she visibly mulled over her thoughts.
Finally, the dragoness would lean forward once again, resting her elbows upon the table as her hands cupped her cheek.
"Bureaucracy can be daunting, but... I can probably find the right people," she says, her tone dropping into an almost playful whisper, "I have the know-how to find them, Kai, but I lack the network. And what you need isn't exactly standard procedure... Silver lining? Your need aligns with with where I desire my network to expand. Once it is built, I can help, but that could take me some months."
Then there's a pause.
"I'm certain others could probably help sooner," she said, acknowledging her low status yet again, "They've been here longer, of course. That residency boasts a price. I will do what I can to identify them for you, but it pays to consider the cost that they may require."
A gentle reminder. Servitude, agreements of non-interference, and other binding actions could all be enforced via contract - and those who have been here boasted the status to enforce a steeper price for their service. Especially when they knew of a matter's importance to a given Lost. Ivory's advice was simple: Anticipate the Desired price and trust no one.

Kai slipped out a burner cell and asked, "What's your digits?" A text would be shot. Contact details would be had. She nodded pointedly about not wanting to attract unwanted attention.
The Fairest's points about the bureaucracy were... reflective of someone who really had no illicit connections. "Even if you can't help up front, that's okay. I'll work more than one angle. Fact is, it is in everyone's interest for people to have the right papers - for all kinds of reasons." It wasn't something they could easily discuss in public. "Don't worry. I'll hit up my clubmates. I bet I know someone could give me a hand -- but I appreciate the desire to help. I bet you'll have plenty of chances to make a difference here."
Paying a cost greater than a few hundred bucks for a fake ID sounded like some Keeper nonsense. If that was how upper Spring management was... well. Hopefully, that wasn't so.
She offered Ivory a hand to shake. "Thank you for the drinks, and the chat. You've given me a lot to think about. I appreciate it."

Ivory happily shared contact details, securing her newfound acquaintance with Kai Rose.
As Kai came to an understanding of what the Pale Dragon was sharing, Ivory smiled. It was not within the want of this Spring to build strong bridges in the criminal underground. She would if she needed to... but there was a security in being legitimate or as close to it as any Lost could management, even if it made some things more difficult. She had to seek help from Pendragon to gain her new identity, but now he was gone and his connections with him.
Not to mention the desire to remain apart from the networks of those Lost who might reside among the criminal elite, whether within the court of the Antler Crown or elsewhere.
"Fair is fair," she says as Kai elects to pursue the matter with someone else. It wasn't her business after all and she had said her piece on how she felt Kai should approach the matter if she wanted to build something concrete.
"Keep me in mind if you need something else then, I'm good for more than a little bureaucratic knowledge," she said before adopting a sly smirk, "Let me know if you ever need an escape, I always have wine if nothing else."
Then a nod as Kai's shake was reciprocated before Ivory signaled the server for her bill and a water before reclining in her seat.
"Of course," she responded, "I appreciate the company. Do enjoy yourself."
With the conversation reaching its natural end, she granted the Polychromatic a final, departing smile before turning her attention back to the writhing mass of desire below them.
