There were plenty of little hidden gems to be found in Vegas. Niches that only the locals would be able to find, and treasures to be found. But sometimes you had to hit up those sweet casino resort tourist traps BAY BAY! Parking was found, valets were paid, and two pieces of the newly minted Afterparty Motley were on the prowl for all sorts of goodies. And maybe would even end up spoiling themselves. This is what brought them to the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian - and it was going to be one hell of a trip! Or at least for Archie it was. Riley may be learning what they finally got themselves into. “Alright - here is the plan, three stops no matter what. Book store - sports store - candy store. That means you get three guaranteed stops, hit the app up for options. There is plenty to eat and drink but it has to be somewhere between trashy and fancy and I’m not settling for chain. No Panda Express, personal rule.”
Archie was looking basic today, in his salmon collared shirt, with gold framed Ray-Bans, nice Intra-Matic watch by Hamilton and some khaki’s. “Also - what’s the word on the street these days? I’ve been busy preparing to launch a campaign for a book. Our very own sweet unicorn.”

Riley was dressed "casual" as the moth came. Wearing a pair of glitter sneakers, short shorts, their white button-up, and meshed shirt. They have a big necklace that reads in glittery letters "Boi". The darkling protects their eyes from the sun with zebra tinted sunglasses. The darkling glanced around the shopping center as Archie gave a rundown of the shopping agenda. "I never been here, ya know?" Riley offered with a light chuckle. Candy shop maybe some sweets, to share with the troupe? Sports store, they had some supplies for work they needed probably could find that there. Bookstore...what was it Dani was currently reading again? "Oh, word on the street?" They gave a moment to think that over. "well, still struggling with the troupe to trust me. Laura has been riding my ass and not the fun way" You could almost hear Riley's eyes roll behind their shades. "OH! Heard there's some drama over at Absinthe." Absinthe was one of the competing cabaret variety acts in Los Vegas, hosted at Ceaser Palace hotel. "Word' got it a few creative differences are happenin'. But my money is on the troupe is a little incestuous after the new year party, and it's coming to a head."

“You really need to play tourist, you know? There are so many fun things here in town but you think you shouldn’t because it is touristy. Throw caution to the wind, hit the strip and make a day or night of it. You should take someone out for a night - fancy dinner, good drinks, maybe some craps. I know a great rooftop bar at the MGM.”
The devil's grin crossed the Fairests face. Maybe he could have joined them if not for that pressing business he had had happen that night. Real shame.
“And if Laura doesn’t back off the only ride she is going to catch is the bus to Newark New Jersey because it is the closest she will ever be to being on broadway.”
He dipped his glasses down.
“You can cash that cheque.”
Archie - casually threatening to take someone to task for crossing Riley. Probably not the professional he normally was, likely the Darkling could suss out that she was talking with the Motley Archie versus the more professional. It was an odd transition depending on how they had braced themselves for it.
“Oooh no, I love Absinthe - it's such a fun show. I was working an angle on that for you but I mean. If they are cousin kissing if you know what I mean, maybe it's better we didn’t. Though...Maybe misfortune for some is an opportunity for others.”
Shrug as he made a face about it, eyes hidden once more.
“So what is your call Riles - classic literature, or sports ball first? Always finish my must stops with candy because things are cheaper comparatively. "

" Oh, I love the strip. But sometimes the hotels are just a little expensive for my means..."
Riley turned their head, lowering their shades to give Archie a raised eyebrow as he mentioned the Foundation room. " yes. I recall," They say dryly. Riley couldn't blame Archie for that night; that night was their own mistake. But he did set the stage.
At the mention of Laura and what Archie was willing to do, the Moth gave a short laugh.
"Naw, she's too talented, and I hate ta say it, but she is right. Most of the time. But I will keep that in my back pocket if she crosses the line."
They smile at the fact Archie had looked at Absinthe for them. Next to Zumanity, that would definitely be a dream to be on that stage. "It's a great show, but I'll pass on the drama, maybe later. Where first? Sports Ball, I'd say."
Riley gave a confident nod at their choice
"So, how's Pen's book coming along? Horror right cryptids or some such?"

“What’re your teams? Don’t worry I am judging you the entire time, and there are right answers. Order of importance is Basketball, Football, Hockey, and Baseball - bonus points if you got a Soccer team.”
He was particular and he was testing the moth seeing if they could pass his trial as they reached the top of the escalators and wound into the interior portion of the mall.
“Book seems fine, what I read of it at least. And talk about a winning personality right? I haven't met anyone that agreeable without their mother-in-law hanging over their shoulder at temple. Dealing with books though? A real nudnik, but it’ll come along and hopefully we’ll see some stuff hitting the podcast or radio scene soon enough.”
He nodded.
“And you know at first look I was fully expecting erotica. Hardcore or otherwise. Like a sixth sense. Creepy New England esque horror though? That was like fifth on my list.”
He confidently led them through the mall, already knowing where he was going to claim the sports ball prize.

Riley followed along, pausing ever so often to glance in a shop before fluttering after Archie.
" Basketball? Warriors, followed by Blazers. Football got 'a represent, Cowboys," Riley said, shrugging with a smirk.
"Hokey, I don't know it well enough to have a team. I mean, the name I know in Montreal, right? Soccer...we talkin' state or world? Oh, okay, back at ya, do you have a Favorite Derby team?"
Sports were a bit thing growing up, and working bars and clubs made it nearly impossible not to be keyed in.
"Pen is a darling" Riley agreed before letting out a chuckle at the mention of Erotica.
"I would wager they have some of that somewhere if you asked. But I think from what I've caught, Horror is their thang. Which ya know, it's always the innocent one's right?"

“Uuugh, I should have asked sooner...I just can’t...The Warriors? I mean Dame time I can respect, I remember when Pippen was on the squad and they almost defied the odds - but the SPLASH BROTHERS? That is admitting you like inflicting pain on people.”
He shook his head from the reeling.
“As for the Cowboys? Swap up from the Silver and Black because Raiders are coming to town - so best to get in on the ground floor. The bonus is you may see a team win a game.”
Shots, shots, shots, fired.
“Now Derby, if we are talking footie, is Man U all the way and I have to root for the Homeland come World Cup or else I am not allowed to look anyone in the eye back home. If we are going off beat, I have a Roller derby team too, used to be a sponsor Sin City Rollergirls and particularly the Notorious VIP.”
Almost nearing their detitanation.
“See, I am afraid to ask because I am going to get Harry Potter fanfiction. I can feel it in my bones.”

The moth gave Archie a disparaging snort at his comments about the warriors. "Look, they were the hot shit back at college. It's not my fault they won all the time." They raised one hand as if to dismiss his comments.
"Ah, a manchester lad, huh? I didn't know you sponsored the Sin City rollers" Riley was pleasantly surprised to hear that of Archie; they wouldn't have pegged him for The roller Derby type.
"My heart lies back with the Texan teams. For flat track, Texas Rollergirls, home team Hell Marys. But it's Bank track that I prefer. The Texas Lonestar Roller Girls, The Cherry bombs"
The Darkling smiled, remembering the days in Austin when they would sneak to the games. Maybe they should check out the Sin City Rollers sometime.
Riley laughed at the mention of Hair Potter fanfiction. " Well, maybe keep to the horror. "
Glancing to the destination coming up Riley looked to Archie.
"Got In'thang you're lookin for?"

With the Field of Dreams store in sight, Archie made sure to motion to it.
“Less looking more buying. Signed Jersey, Kobe Bryant. A real tragedy there. Something came onto the market and my man Jesse hooked me up. So we are going to see how the mounting looks and pay then he’ll get it delivered to my office to avoid the hassle of carrying it around. After this Bauman’s rare books, where I have something on hold as well that finally came in. Fields up here is an awesome spot for sports and celebrity stuff so have a gander and see if there are any must have items. No time like the present and with me around Jesse isn’t going to jerk you around on price.”
Entering the store, Archie would jovially greet the man manning the counter, who quickly retrieved the yellow jersey mounting on a purple backing. They made small talk and it gave Riley a moment to look around and see if any of the sports or celebrity memorabilia stuck out to them.
Quickly the man - presumably Jesse - was off to the back again to finish having the piece sent.
“So tell me, what do you miss about Texas? Has to be something right? I’m not even far from home and there are things that I can’t even believe I would even miss. But hey - just hits.”

The twilight dancer let out a chuckle. They had assumed sporting goods, not sports memorabilia. But given the shopping center they were in, they should have guessed. " Always have someone for something, don't ya?" The moth smirked, nudging him playfully in the ribs.
"I'll have to look around then see if anything stands out." Following Archie into the store, Riley took in the walls of sports memorabilia. They had never been to a shop quite like this, and it felt for a moment like entering a foreign country and trying to ask for directions.
"Texas?" They raised an eyebrow and gave a dismissive shrug. "I got outta there for a reason. Wasnt my place." They paused, but that wasn't the question, was it.
"I miss the smell. I know, weird. But Austin had this smell to it. Hot cement, sweat, heat, and barbeque. I know it sounds a lot like here, but it's off, just ain't right. That and there was some good barbeque, nothing quite compares here or in cali"
For a moment, there was a forlorn look upon the darkling's face as they recalled something. But it was quickly replaced by a smile and shake of their antenna. Once Archie started his business Riley wandered the aisles looking to see if anything stood out to them. In time something did, catch their eye. It was a Dallas Cowboys jersey, signed by one of the players. Picking it out they went to find Archie.

“Oh I get you. Everywhere has a smell. The dry desert where a city sprung out of nowhere and tries to stay as dirty as it is sanitized has a unique smell to it. Sure it's hot, sure it's concrete, but Vegas smells like Vegas. But if you talk like that anymore, we are going to have to do Barbeque before we ever get to that cookout Linden wanted. Even found a place that may have space for a tiger.”
He smirked, proud of himself finding a barbeque shack that was willing to accommodate having a tiger around.
“Anywhere on the app look like a decent place to eat?”
He mused before the Moth went to hunt for something or other that would catch their fancy. Just as everything was being rung through he caught the sight of Riley with something in hand.
“Oh Herschel Walker, someone has taste. Planning to hang it up or do you have someone special who likes the Cowboys. Don’t say Dani please, my heart couldn’t take it.”

"Well if your cravin' barbeque we can make that happen. I think Linden would like that. But for today I thought Primeburger looked good. " Riley commented as they made their way back towards Archie. "Ain't no silver plate steakhouse, and ain't no panda express." It wasn't In and Out either, but who was asking. Riley looked down at the signed Herschel walker shirt and shook their head to answer Archies' next question. "Not Dani, don't think she's a Cowboy fan, haven't asked. It's for my sis Claire. Big fan. Thought it might give her a smile, little bit of home for her"

“Is that your final answer? I doubt they do their fries Animal Style. But I thought you were from Texas, isn’t Whataburger your religion?”
Eyebrows raised before he looked to Jesse with a nod as a sign to just add the jersey to his tab. He didn’t bother looking at the price, it wasn’t locked down so he could afford it. Plus it would make Riley happy, so worth the capital.
“Close with your sister? I have two brothers I keep in touch with every few weeks. They are insane with what they do - makes me kind of disappointed that real talent skips a kid. One is an architect, the other a goldsmith and jeweler. What about Claire?”
He opened up about his family, which was unprecedented for Archie, but Riley did him the courtesy of talking about Claire so it seemed fair...Besides it was more than just business now. They were just hanging out. It was refreshing - despite him being up to his antics.

“ Ya know, I actually prefer In and out. That was my joint in Cali”
Riley rolled their eyes a little at the generalization of Texans. When Archie mentioned his brother the darkling took notice. Family was not a common topic for the Fairest. Their antenna flicked slight at the topic change.
“Wow those are cool jobs. Are they local or back in L.A?”
The two stepped from the shop back into the venetian styled shopping center before Riley answered his question.
“We are close as you can be given everything. She found me and moved to Las Vegas to be nearby. Right now she works as a secretary. Which is bullshit”
The moth obviously felt strongly about Claire’s job. “ She’s too damn smart to be someone's daily planner”

“Both L.A. generally. One has a storefront, the other - the architect - he just got back from Mexico after 9 months. Designing a resort down there. Part of his pay was getting a house on the property. The real pain of this all - not being able to use a perfectly available resort house in Mexico.”
Archie was merrily tagging along, pointing towards the path they needed to take.
“Well hey now, clerical work is very noble. Depending on what level she is running office administration she is making bank keeping a whole office afloat. But if they are just running a barber shop, that is an oof. Did she go to school for anything? I mean I have a few hook ups here and there, maybe I can help?”
Archie wasn’t sure off the top of his head what he could find, but he knew some other offices that could always use a hand. It was maybe something better. Archie was a natural solver, seeing problems as needed solutions that he needed to try and execute. Almost anxiety.
“Also that's sweet you know...That she moved out here for you. You two must be really close.”
He poked gently, he wasn’t digging but had a genuine interest in getting to know more about Riley.
