Business - Business required a serious venue, right? Wrong, A Tiki bar would do. Setting up a meeting with the Iron Spear he had been directed too he decided double duty would work just fine. He had already hosted a small party at the Golden Tiki earlier so just stuck around and waited for their new contact to join them. Archie was easy to find, scarlet suit with reflective emerald pinstripes with a black shirt layered beneath and a matching bow tie and some purple hued oxfords. He was certainly a sight with his tiki head in hand hosting the Blue Lagoon he was nursing from an eccentric menu. The goal tonight was simple - he wanted to meet this maker, and see if he could find someone who would be able to help get something rather mundane done.Despite its non-magical nature he was more comfortable working with member from this community, in fact one of the few things her preferred having the Wyrd present. It always helped being able to make sure people couldn’t blab if you were feeling the need to stop that. Now, it was time for the two of them to vet one another. Wayland

She'd done her homework. She'd discreetly texted around the Freehold. Well, 'around the Freehold' this time meaning Linden and Riley. Both of them assured her that Mr. Hartman was legitimate, or at least Riley's string of emojis made it seem like they approved. Which at least means she shouldn't be walking into some kind of trap. Some might think 'Who would set a trap in a tiki bar?' Those people are insufficiently paranoid. You can set a trap anywhere. It's just harder when it's in public.
It's also reassuring (though not definitive) to sense the presence of a Seasonal Mantle around the loudly dressed man who is obviously waiting for somebody. Probably her, as it doesn't look like there are any other Changelings in the joint. She hangs back for just a moment by the entrance of the bar, eyes going to the room's entrances and exits to mark them in her head, before walking directly towards his table.

There was always important business on his phone, this time it was Candy Crush level 945, and he was on the verge of spending the big bucks to get some lollipop hammers and break through so he could get to 946 and get just as stuck for enough days that the temptation to spend again struck. His mood? Chill - he had finished up with a small party so if anything was a little spent, but a meeting was a meeting and there was no better place than a Tiki bar.
Why may one ask, a Tiki Bar? Because how could one ever set up a trap in a Tiki Bar. It was one of the least likely and hardest places to set up a trap. Now if you wanted to get someone to start worrying it was Jazz clubs all the way. For reasons.
Switching from the Crush to replying to a few messages, before lifting his head to catch the casual approach to his table. He wore a smile, gapped teeth showing as he raised his Tiki head in greetings. He had his guest settle in and grab a seat before he went off on anything.
“Menu’s yours to pick from, they're still running my tab from earlier so toss it on. Call it a business expense and let the accountant worry about it, am I right?”
He chuckled and offered his hand.
“Archie, it's a pleasure. Thanks for finding the time, it’s a pleasure.”

Oh this is that kind of meeting. The kind with business expenses and accountants. Interesting. When the server comes by, Wayland orders crab rangoons and a Coke. Always happy to eat on somebody else's time.
He called meeting her a pleasure twice, which Wayland finds a little odd, but she reaches out with a tarnished, silver hand and shakes his with a firm grip. "Ramona," she answers his introduction with her own. "Nice to meet you, Archie."

As he often did, a peek into one's desires would never hurt - so he took advantage of the handshake “Hope the place wasn’t too hard to find, or too eclectic. Fun place for parties, and everyone usually loves taking a little tiki head home. I suppose I am not explaining much am I? I work as an Agent to those seeking to make a name for themselves in one of many arenas. I work with a few members of the community, Riley Sorsa, and Agrippa from the Crown, and Firebringer from the Spear. Normally when I make these meetings it is to try and offer my services to take the load off someones back so they can focus on their craft - however, today I find myself in the opposite situation. As mundane as it sounds I do like to try and keep things in house.”
He let off his spiel, a bit about himself, some names they might know. He then returned to sip his drink through the straw as he finished his introduction. “Being boring about things, I literally am just looking for someone to melt some basic scrap down for me so it's easier to store - as unexciting as that is.”

Loud suit, loud man. Figures. Not loud, so much as wordy. Not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, Wayland prefers this. Let him be the one to open up first, to hand out details and explain his position. She waits patiently while he goes on, until finally he brings the one-sided conversation back around to why he called her here. By now her Coke has arrived. She takes a small sip, before filling the silence after his cacophony with a few words of her own. "I asked Riley about you. They say you're good people. Tell me more about this scrap."A plate of rangoons lands in front of her, and she scoops one up, munching while she watches Archie. “Well, out of everyone I am glad Riley has decent things to say about me.”
A soft chuckle. He had gone to great lengths for Riley - he had promised too. Sometimes that involved sharp words, and sleepless nights. However there were some people that always complained. It didn’t happen faster, it was never good enough. Etcetera, etcetera. Normally background noise, but it would have hurt something extra if it had been Riley.
“It is just that. Scrap. Sometimes people I work with - they can’t pay cash or card so over time I get a build up odds and ends. I may have an out there view of fashion but I don’t think gold chains, or thick and chunky rings are going to help me. I also don’t have any use to just go and sell the goods now. I’m not hurting. But - have you ever tried to stuff a box full of rings, or big showy pieces? Good grief.”
He shook his head to accentuate the problem.
“Last person I had helping me with this up and left town - sad too, they were good folk. So I need someone who has this sort of schtick.”
He spun the straw in the drink.

Wayland's brow tightens in a small, confused frown. Unspoken questions run through her head. Why would jewelry be not worth selling but worth paying someone to melt down and keep? Besides, hasn't Archie ever heard of regifting? 'Not my business,' she reminds herself. Since when did Changelings need to make sense? This is what he wants and he's willing to engage her services to get it. "I can help," she answers after a moment, frown easing. "If you're sure this is the best solution for you."
She bites a rangoon in half, chewing and swallowing before going on; "I can't give you a blanket quote until I see the pieces. If there are stones I'll remove them. And if there are different metals I'll separate them out. Do you want bars, or did you have something else in mind for the results?" It's not really her calling, just melting stuff down. And it'll hurt if she has to destroy anything of artistic or sentimental value. But it's work, and a way to help out a Freeholder. She'll bite her tongue.

“I can have everything sent to you, probably easier than finding time these days - busy planning for festivals and events. I’ll send along the information you can charge it all too, whatever you think is fair plus 10% on top for yourself. I know this is likely out of your wheelhouse so I want to be fair to your time.”
A moment to sip his drink.
“Spur of the moment question - since I am not familiar with your work, what is your production range? Do you just take on industrial, or do you do more cosmetic or out of the ordinary items?”
What did she actually make was a solid point of order as the first part of this trip fell into place.

He didn't answer how he wanted the results of his melted 'scrap.' Well, it's not Wayland's business. He can have it back in bars unless he tells her another way. She eats the other half of her rangoon while she listens to him talk. Just as she thought, he has money. Enough of it that whatever he's going to pay her for this service is a pittance. There's a familiar curl of jealousy in the pit of her stomach. Not that she doesn't have money, but just that wealth inequality exists. That poverty exists, and she grew up in it, and in the same society there are people who can pay for her to melt down their hoards of ugly jewelry without thinking about what it costs them. That thought turns the jealousy to wrath. Which is better, easier to manage. And easier to direct away from Archie, who's done nothing to merit it so far as she knows but exist and have access to wealth.
Thoughts that might have become toxic instead become motivating. Cleansing. She takes a sip of her Coke, and as she sets the glass back on the table, a small smile curling her lips and dimpling her cheeks as he asks about her other work. She shrugs, "I can do just about anything. Shoe horses. Forge gates and fixtures. I've made some armor; fitted mail hauberk, some plate. I'm good with blades, anything from chef's knives to Zweihänder. I dabble in some other areas; gunsmithing, a bit of automechanics, woodcarving, scrimshawing... I do make cosmetic items, jewelry. Ask Riley about their gauntlet."

He took note of each of the options she mentioned. Well you know what, he may as well take advantage of the situation.
“You know, that is actually quite the segway being provided. Riley actually just got a pretty big gig - and news is slowly getting out. We are going to be having a bit of a party pretty soon here to celebrate what they have done. I...I want to get something for them. But as you can see I don’t exactly have a normal taste and I won’t say I have any special insight.”
A sigh.
“Do you think it would be possible to make something special for them? I would leave it entirely in your hands, I can’t think of anything creative to save my life. But it seems like it would mean more to have something made and be unique then just go to some chain. Especially if it came from the community.”

That's twice now Wayland's work is going to be going to Riley in just the past couple weeks. Interesting. Wayland shakes her head as she picks up another rangoon, "How are they gonna know it's from you if you're not even involved in deciding what it is?" Brief pause while she eats the treat, before she resumes, "Look, I'd be happy to make you a gift for Riley. But it would probably mean a lot more to them if you had some input on what I'm making. So maybe we can figure something out together."

“I. . .Work off sentiment more than anything really. Since I came back from my out of body experience I find I am able to curate more than making any meaningful choices. Drawing blanks, staring at a page so to speak. Hurts even worse when your family has a knack for being good with their hands and you are the odd one out.”
He put his hands on the table palm up.
“Maybe I am cursed, maybe I am dumb. I don’t know. I am more than happy to see what you think and help maybe piece something together. I would appreciate it. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but it means a lot.”

She watches him with a neutral expression. Trying not to make judgements about his self-deprecation. She doesn't know him, after all. Doesn't know his wants and needs and trauma. After a moment's pause when he finishes speaking, she picks up her coke and takes a pensive sip, licking her lips when she sets the glass back down. "Hmm." The sound is pensive, and her eyes go distant as she stares down at the table. The pad of a silver index finger begins tapping against the table's surface. "I don't know if Riley cooks. If they do, I'd say I can make them an excellent chef's knife. But I know that they drink," she lifts her eyes back up to Archie's face. "How about a flask? Pewter or sterling silver. Engraved."

“If I can tell you something about Riley it is that I have never seen them cook - and compared to the amount of things I have seen her order Animal Style on ubereats I think we can say cooking is out of the equation. But a drinker? Absolutely.”
He mused for a moment, as he reached into his jacket and pulled out a notepad.
“You know I am normally hopeless...but I can think of once decent piece of advice I gave them that would fit nicely.”
He quickly jotted it down and passed it over. If Dreams Were Free, We Wouldn’t Need to Sleep.
“Sounds dumb out loud - but it came out during a special moment. If that’s doable I would be over the moon.”
